So ive setup my HDHR and can view channels via VLC within the HDHR config utility. Now when I launch pvrx2 I see the guide with no problem, I then click on a show to watch live tv and it comes up fine (the first time), I then go back to the guide and select another channel, click watch and i get an black screen with white text "No signal detected. Please ensure that the antenna cable is connected or that the antenna signal is strong enough." The odd thing is that if I just click + or - it lets me flip through channels, but as soon as i go through the guide I receive the error. I see the error in the PVRX2.exe.log, but I cant figure out what the problem is. Ive attached the PVRX2.exe.log file in hopes that someone can provide a solution. Thanks in advance. Peace

I have been using GBPVR for a long time now for Freeview using the Freeview EPG with no problems.
However after recently adding a second DVB-T card I'm unable to get both cards fully functional even though both cards work OK when installed individually.
Depending on the installation sequence I use I can't always get all the channels to show on the both cards and some channels which appear after scanning can be viewed but not recorded via the EPG.
I also had to copy Scan-1.cache to overwrite Scan-2.cache.
1. Can you run through the installation/Search/EPG update sequence for two cards i.e. does each have to have its own EPG. If so will both EPG's update automatically.
2. What is the best channel update procedure to follow when the Plympton transmitter channels change in August and the analogue signal is turned off. At the same time the BBC transmissions will change to QAM 64 from the present QAM 16. Will a complete re-install be required.
The two cards are Hauppuage Nova-t USB2 and Pinnacle 310i PCI.
I have DVB EPG Broadcast working fine. I'm wondering if there is any advantage in using an grabber like XMLTV. Does this give you any additional EPG information?
Also I see some stuff on the forums about using tools to further enhance the XML information through post processing. Can these be used with DVB EPG?
1. When I pause tv I just get a black screen. Audio and video stops. However audio and video is recorded (see 2). The total time (right hand side time counter) doesn't appear to increase either, and starts off at 1 hour. It looks to save to disk correctly, starting with a 0 byte file and increasing.
2. Playback of recordings has no sound, but video is fine. Video and sound play back in say VLC, so audio is recorded ok.
3. Is it possible to transcode the saved streams on the fly? 1gb per 10 minutes of footage is rather disk space consuming
4. I'm trying to determine if hardware decoding is enabled. What sort of cpu usage should I expect if this feature was working? I'm on a core 2 2.4Ghz, 4ghz ram, nvidia 9600 mobile gt, XP pro sp3, .net (all) is installed, using VMR9.
5. How does the EPG work here in NZ? It's set to use the DVB EPG, but I often get no data...It seems I only got data when I first updated it (and then still there was missing data). Do I still need to update it manually? I thought it would have just got new data as the tv streams come in?
I've tried to research these issues but get lost and over my head.
Some questions about the usage of the software.
a. For some reason, I'm finding it rather unintuative. I've tried reading the wiki but still get lost. I understand how the livetv preview vs timeshift mode works, but for eg, when I pause livetv and enter timeshift mode, how do I unpause and play?? There is no OSD play button.
b. What does the "..." button on the timeshifted tv OSD do? It does nothing for me. But neither do the other related timeshift buttons, so perhaps it's due to the video not showing...?
c. Also, why is there no record button? Ctrl+k doesn't seem to work for me.
d. When I paused livetv just now, at the top between current time and total time is the progress bar. This is red and is about 1/3 the length between the two times... shouldn't it be at the far left if I've only just started timeshift mode?

ok, the primary problem is that one of my wife's recordings was bad, and this is a problem for the reputation of my stupid pvr project (married guys, you all know what I'm talking about).
House was started recording at 8:00pm tonight. We ended up with two files, the regular .ts file with zero length, and another -1.ts file that is about 75% of the size it should be, but the -1.ts file is unplayable. In the the recording-service log just after the recording started I see this:

So something wasn't working, and it restarted, thus explaining the 0 size first file and subsequent -1.ts file. I notice then in the native log this when the recording first started:
The signal strength and quality reported the second time is insufficient (I know different tuners report things differently, but for this tuner that is bad). So that appears to explain pretty much everything - it got zero signal at first, recorded nothing, tried again, got a lousy signal and recorded a file with too much garbage at the start to be playable. The signal came back at some point, since the next episode of House on the same channel at 9:00pm recorded fine (frustrating though, I don't recall ever having a problem with the signal on that channel before, it's been one of the very reliable ones).
What I'm looking for first is if anyone else has a different take on the matter?
Second, what is also interesting to me that I'm looking for comments on, is that throughout my logs I frequently get the same message when recordings start on my primary recording tuner (the Kworld atsc-340u):
What could cause it to report no signal yet record anyway? Is there a timeout to adjust, or tuning parameter? Could any of this have anything to do with the failed recording of House, or was that just an honest bad signal?
I've been using GB-PVR with MediaMVP on Vista 64 over hard-wired network for some time with no problems. I recently changed to verizon FIOS, and was forced to use their router instead of my Linksys BEFR81. The Linksys was downgraded to a switch and verizon's actiontec router is providing DHCP service. Since that change, I can no longer connect to the MediaMVP to the server. I just get "Connecting to first server" and it fails after Attempt (30/30). This is the only change. My network is otherwise fully functional: sharing between os-x and vista, print servers, everything working, etc.
Any ideas as to what might cause this problem? I'm assuming there is some config I need to change on the new router, but I don't know what it could be.
When i select the "dvb egp broadcast" option for the source and click "update epg" no listings are showing up in gbpvr tv guide. I'm using atsc for the channels.
Is this supposed to work with antenna tv or just for cable?
I can not get the OSD resume to work it always starts the file at the beginning. If I enable <UseMenuResumeButton> in the the config it functions properly but I prefer the OSD.
I was wondering can anyone advise on this. I'm wondering if I can get the HD channels on Freesat (UK) using a DVB-S card, or is a DVB-S2 card required?
If I buy the much cheaper DVB-S card, will I be able to receive SD versions of the channels?
Is there a way of exporting (to txt file or similar) a list of all the channels that are assigned to a particular capture source? Perhaps querying the database somehow...?
