  lost shows
Posted by: cgilson33 - 2009-04-17, 08:15 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I ran into issues with titantv so i rebuilt my capture devices and mapped the QAMs to a new xml file
To clear the old stuff i deleted the gbpvr.db3 file, because i saw this suggested somewhere in the forum
but now the shows that were already recorded do not show up in my "recordings" section of pvrx2
Is there any way to get these to show up, the shows are still located in the temp folder (at least the folders were still there when i looked, i guess i didn't check if the files were still there)
or would deleting gbpv3.db3 trash my recorded files, doubt that though

Digital cable / HD tuner card
Posted by: joeinbend - 2009-04-17, 05:11 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (8)

Hi all,
I am putting together my client/server live TV setup, currently using a PVR-150 to capture video audio from my set-top box. This works, however the video quality is not perfect, and the channel changing time is slow.

With the US converting to digital TV, the old method of just running your cable TV coax into the tuner cards' coax and having it doe the actual video render and channel changing/tuning, are quickly about to disappear, then the only method (that i know of) is what i described above, with the capture card managing your cable providers' set-top box, which sucks.

My question is, are there options for PCI cards now, where I can still run my coax cable directly into the card, and have it read my cable providers' signal, change channels etc, without the need for a set top?? Also, is there a card that will do all of this, as well as read my HD channels (in my case, the 600 - 780 channels)?

Such a magical card would definately greatly increase my video quality and frame-rate, as well as speed up the time for channel changing. I equate my current set up to "screen scraping", which is never an ideal method in any environment.

UK Users - EPG data for freesat channels
Posted by: imilne - 2009-04-17, 04:57 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

I'm using mc2xml for guide data, and although it "finds" most of the channels I'm interested in, it doesn't actually pull back any listings for them. I think it's probably the same problem that's described here: http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/permali...hread.aspx

Does anyone know of other sources for guide data for these channels? xmltvgui couldn't get them via its radio times grabber. How about digiguide? I don't have a current subscription but if someone could check?

Thanks all

  Recording (*)ed shows
Posted by: cgilson33 - 2009-04-17, 03:55 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (3)

I don't know if this is out there already but...

Is there a plugin for setting the recording type option to record only new episodes

Seems like an easy script but i've never written a plugin for a program

I just mean 'easy' if you can set the plugin to look for the * that mc2xml places in the tv guide, then you would be able to set a daily or weekly season recording option that would only record the new episodes

If anyone knows of a plugin or skin that has this option let me know
Thanks!

  Holland Ziggo Digital HD TV
Posted by: -=TJ=-Stefan - 2009-04-17, 09:06 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (22)

Hi everyone,

I'm having some practical questions about changing to Digital TV (just bought a samsung LE40A856) Big Grin The question is what would you as Ziggo user build or buy to watch and record digital (HD) tv?

As I see it I have a few options:

1. Buy a Humax 5050C HD for the living and buy a popcorn for the sleepingroom. I've read somewhere you can connect them so you can watch the recorded TV in the sleeping room.

Pro: digital HD recorder with EPG from Ziggo
Con: no GBPVR (big disadvantage)

2. Build a new PC with digital HD decoder (not sure what to buy) and put it in the living. Must be a quiet PC. Install a DVD burner in it and a Blu-Ray (or buy a seperate one). Ofcourse with optical out and HDMI. Buy a Popcorn for the sleeping room and connect it to GBPVR.

Pro: keeping GBPVR with all it nice features
Con: probably more expensive, not every channel on EPG (HD channels missing).

I prefer a new PC with GBPVR on it but I'm not sure what to buy for hardware (got an idea but could use some help).

PC: quadcore, ATI 4 serie graphical card, Sound ?, Decoder PCI card (which I can use with the smartcard from Ziggo) ? maybe more then one or can you watch and record with one PCI decoder card?, maybe solid state harddisk to keep it quiet and store the recordings on a Windows 2003 server or a new NAS

Now I've got the following hardware:

PC with Windows 2003 server. On it runs GBVPR with 2 PVR 150 analoge cards. It also runs iTunes which I can control from my iPhone so it runs music through airport express.

In the living and sleepingroom I've got a MVP with scart.

I hope you guys out there can give me some advise what to do and what to buy. Is popcorn the way to go?

Tnx in advance.

Stefan

Weather Panels Working in Community Skin
Posted by: blacks1093 - 2009-04-17, 05:01 AM - Forum: Community Skin - Replies (2)

I have been out of the loop for some time and recently got my old GB system up and running on the latest version.

So I installed the Weather plugin with the latest community skin and I noticed that the old weather panels were not available or "working" with the current setup.

Now I know that the weather plugin has not been updated or supported in sometime but I figured I would load it since it is such a nice plugin. The plugin works fine in all aspects other than the loss of the panels on the main menu screen. Seeing that panels were available and working for other plugins, I took a look at some of the skin and weather panel xml files and added the lines that would enable the panels for weather in the panels folder and weather plugin folder, but no luck.

Maybe I need to make some adjustments to the xml files that i overlooked, not sure. I wanted to make a post to see if anyone has had similar experience with this topic before i got too deep.

Thanks!

PVRX2 stops working when tuner changes
Posted by: blaster556 - 2009-04-17, 05:00 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I have an HDHR with 2 tuners. GBPVR 1.3.11

When I start PVRX2 and watch a show, it works. As I change channels, as long as the channel I'm watching is on the same tuner, it works. As soon as I switch to a channel on the other tuner, PVRX2 says it can't get a signal.

It fails both ways. If I start watching a show on 0 and switch to a show on 1, it can't get a signal. If I start with a show on 1, 1 works, then I switch to a show on 0, PVRX2 can't get a signal. After this happens, neither tuner works.

If I quit PVRX2 and restart, I can watch again.

PVRX2 log files attached.

  EPG Update
Posted by: fhmanas - 2009-04-17, 04:31 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Am using GBPVR ver 1.3.11, I get my tv guide from an xml file generated by TVxb. I checked the xml file generated, and it has all the necessary info needed by GBPVR, this is the same file that I have been using before.

But earlier this week, any attempt to update GBPVR with the xml file results in an empty TV guide. I have updated via PVRX2 gui, and through the config program to no avail

Please help.

Need help with hip and gbpvr
Posted by: corycs - 2009-04-17, 04:05 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (14)

I can control the menu in gbpvr with hip but when I go into live tv the up button on the remote which is the up key on the keyboard, can't change the channel or anything else. I have to use the keyboard instead and when I go back to the main menu I still can't control anything. So I have to restart gbpvr again to get it functioning.

Live TV with new WinTV HVR-1950
Posted by: Paul D. Bellamy - 2009-04-16, 09:47 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

For the past 5 years or so, I have been using the Hauppauge PVR-250 and GBPVR, v0.99.5, with good success. However, Comcast, which supplies my video over a cable, had some failure which (I suppose) put a glitch on the cable and damaged the PVR-250 card in my machine. Since the card was past the warranty date, I felt it best to buy a new video device. The HVR-1950 appeared to have what I needed, plus some new capabilities. The device attaches to the computer with a USB cable, which makes it usable on my laptop as well.

However, when I open GBPRV and click on Live TV, I get the following message:
"Failed to Locate Configured Capture Device".

Can anyone suggest how to use the new HVR-1950 with GBPVR? Thanks for any help.
