  TV Guide Line Missing/Faint
Posted by: hasso - 2009-03-25, 09:17 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (14)

Anyone else notice that the line between the first and second channel program guide is missing/very faint compared to the others?

Prepare for the future capture card question
Posted by: newguy25 - 2009-03-25, 07:12 AM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

I would like to anticipate changes in the future and invest in a card that I can use if I change service and/or PVR software. No particular budget but nothing over $250.

Which capture card would you recommend?

Current Need:
Sonicview 1000 on DTV

Future:
If Charlie turns the lights off for good (yep, news is out) then I have to consider other options such as Cable or Fios.

Or if I plan to switch over to SageTV later on. I pretty much settle between the SageTV or GBPVR as my product of choice.

If I can avoid the USBIRT setup then that's even better. But from what I read so far, I will need this for the Sonicview remote to work.

Do even we need analog support nowadays?

Recording Directory set to use USB drive
Posted by: Dale - 2009-03-25, 06:56 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

I use GB-PVR v 1.3.11 with Config -- Directories -- Recording Directory set to use a 500GB external USB drive.

When the external USB drive is not ON (not powered up) and thus not available, can GB-PVR still execute pending recordings? Is there a default alternative recording directory used, perhaps on C:\ drive somewhere within the program's directory?

I searched but did not find an answer so I set Config -- Directories -- Recording Directory back to use a C:\<directory> location and will have to frequently move recordings from C: to the external USB drive.

Any opinions?

Best Audio Codec (comaptible with HD programming)
Posted by: qaxooti - 2009-03-25, 02:40 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Hey,

I have 2 STBs hooked up to an HVR-2250 Dual Tuner Card.

I am connecting both STBs by S-Video (and L/R audio). Everything works pretty well until I navigate to an HD channel on my Comcast box. It will work for a little while, then the audio will start stuttering.

I haven't really had much problems with video after installing the NVidia Pure Video Decoder, but I haven't been able to get the audio to work exactly right yet.

I have tried a ton of different audio encoders (NVIdia, DScaler5, MPA, Intervideo,Mpeg, System Default, FFDshow, etc.), and haven't been able to find one that works perfect on all types of programming.

Any suggestions? Maybe an audio decoder that I haven't tried? Anyone know the best audio decoder to pair up with the NVidia Pure Video Decoder? I'm pretty intent on keeping the video decoder the same.

  Contacting Server...

Thar's all it does, then reboots. If I disable the plugin it works just fine. So wtf?! I followed the instructions exactly. The only part I am unsure of is the skins part. What skins? Where are the netflix skins?

Ok, found the skins...my unzip didn;t extract them. but I still have the same issue...GUI server not found.

Cannot get TV listings, no matter what.
Posted by: reboot - 2009-03-24, 09:59 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I'm using the latest gb-pvr and have been using mc2xml successfully for a year. Now I get nothing. No Show Details.
The xml file is there, at 17,098kb and i've set config to read it from it's location.
I've tried updaing the epg from:
a) right clicking the icon in the taskbar.
b) the Settings button in the interface.
c) the config screen, xmltv source, settings update epg.
I've emptied and redownloaded multiple times.
I uninstalled, removed and deleted all of gbpvr and reinstalled.
I've looked over every post I can find, with xml epg issues, and nothing i've tried will work.
I've downloaded and am using the latest version of mc2xml.
I've double checked that my zip code and location are correct.
I just cannot get gbpvr to "read" the xml file and put any data in the tv listings.
Any clues?
Attached are all the logs i could find.

  Free Hauppauge Remotes
Posted by: fuzzweed - 2009-03-24, 09:58 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (12)

I've got two haupauge 45 button remotes (NOT the MCE type) and the receiver / blaster wires clogging up my cupboard. If anyone wants one PM an address (UK hopefully Smile) and I'll post them on.
They're off my HVR1300s but seeing as I'm using a USB MCE remote I can't realistically see me needing them and thought they might do someone as a spare or replacement.
Pretty sure the remotes are 100% Ok. I think I remember the receivers needed a wiggle sometimes but I imagine this was more likely to be the card socket and not the plug/wire as I can't see any obvious damage.
First come first served or they're going in the bin.

  Bell TV 6131 receiver
Posted by: dIggl3r - 2009-03-24, 09:51 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (7)

I'm about to swith to Bell TV HD, with the 6131 receiver, and that receiver has the ability to add a USB drive so to enable a PVR.

I've searched alot to know if it would be possible to rip what was on the EHD (external hard drive), and pretty much all I read is that the data would be encrypted. Thing is though, all the forums I found are several months old, even some years old. So I'm wondering, now...

Any canadians with the 6131 and EHD can confirm/infirm about being able to rip to the PC?

thanks

Record Fails if PC not Restarted Every Day
Posted by: johnnyb - 2009-03-24, 09:13 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I have been using GBPVR for a few years now, but re-installed a few months ago and recording works for about a day and then fails for all recordings until pc is restarted. Restarting pc every day fixes problem, but it would be nice if it worked. Have attached logs.

Using WinXP 32 bit SP3 and GBPVR 1.3.11 (I think - can't remember if I installed it - if not, using 1.3.07)
