Channel not showing in TV GUIDE?
Posted by: vskatusa - 2009-03-14, 11:49 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

The TV GUIDE does not show 362 nor 364! I did update the EPG! Am I missing something? I am using GBPVR 1.3.7

  Refresh Rate
Posted by: gh_speedyg - 2009-03-14, 11:13 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I am running GBPVR and have had slight issue with the picture I'm getting from my PVR card. I am wondering if my refresh rate would have anything to do with this. I am running XP pro with a PVR-150 & a STB (through s-video). I am viewing this on a panasonic 27' flat tube tv.

I am not having problems with playback of dvds or stuff I have converted to X-vid from DVDs but when I am watching live or recorded tv I am getting a slight combing effect when there is quick motion on the screen (UFC fights).

I am using FFDshow as my video decoder.

  wireless, i dont understand
Posted by: unruelysock - 2009-03-14, 09:17 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (11)

i am just playing around with gnpvr. but i don't understand why i can log in to my server and read an mpeg over wireless fine no problims at all. but if i use gvpvr to stream an mpeg to me it will play and stall and play and stall.

if i look at the bit rate it is never more then 25% of the bandwidth on the wireless cad. and on the server it is not even 6% and at that time i thank that it was streaming to two computers.

i just was wondering. it is my curiosity

i guess this in not relay a support question, rather just trying to learn things.

thanks.

VisionTek AIW HD PCIe (All-In-Wonder Junkie needs help)
Posted by: kayphoonstar - 2009-03-14, 08:04 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (8)

Okay, so I've looked around here a bit before asking about this card and haven't seen much about them. I'm in USA using Comcast Digital Cable on an XPPro SP3 machine, MSI MB W/AMD 64 X2 6000+

I've used All in Wonders for quite a few years and have always liked them despite their driver quirks. Vista killed the old AIW's and GBPvr needs the software encoder plugin so I'd kind of given up.

Anyway, I've settled into a very comfortable setup with GBPvr (It is THE program and way more stable than BeyondTV or any of the others I've tried - in my experience) and have a working HVR1600, a Kworld 115 ATSC and a WinTV USB . Never being satisfied or comfortable with being comfortable, I picked up one of these All-In-Wonder HD PCIe cards on sale at Best Buy thinking that with the 650 pro chip would work fine with GBPvr and I could get back to using All In Wonders. I didn't read enough of the fine print that said the QAM on these is only being supported in Vista Media Center. But who wants to read all that fine print?

So, I put in the card, installed the drivers that came with it, as well as the Catalyst Media Center and went straight into GBPvr Config. Digital Plugin showed ATI 650 PRO (ATSC & QAM). I tried both and hit Blue Screens. So I went to the Catalyst Media Center (No QAM option) and scanned and got several OTA Digital Channels.

I downloaded the latest ATI drivers (9.2 packages) still no luck in GBPvr. So I backed up and re-installed a clean GBPvr (1.311) and added the patches from the survivor's guide. That kept the dreaded Blue Screen away but still locked up Config when I tried Scanning.

So THEN I opened up Total Media 3 that came with a Kworld card and picked the 'ATI BDA Digital Tuner'. It then gave me the option for Cable or Antenna. Choosing Cable, TM3 found about 130 (2/3 were locked) QAM Channels and seems to function very well moving from channel to channel, w/clean picture and sound. So the drivers are working and the card seems to have Clear QAM tuning capabilities in XP. Now I REALLY don't want to give up on getting this to work since I know it WILL work - somehow - maybe.

BTW, I did try copying some of the QAM tuning settings from the Kworld 115 to the EPG settings of the AIW w/o scanning for channels but I got nothing - just black screen.

So, I'm really hoping someone give me some ideas what to try next to get this working. The Analog cable input option works just fine in GBPvr. But comcast's Straight cable selection just got cut back to only a few channels and the Clear QAMs are way better. I just need something to point me in the right direction. I don't really have any ideas about what to check or adjust in GBPvr to get the card to play nicely.

The card itself only has 3 connectors: HDMI, DVI, (Output) and a Coax input for capture. It's in a PCIe slot, not PCI or AGP. There's also a daughtercard that has Svideo and Audio input as well as Component and Svideo output. So, from what I gather, this is different from the various flavors of the ATI HD capture cards that are out there. But as I said, the chip is the 650 Pro.

Anybody got any ideas about what direction to go next? Or anybody have QAM working in XP w/one of these?

  More HDHR trouble
Posted by: pcostanza - 2009-03-14, 07:55 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

Earlier this week another machine gave me trouble recording, giving me 0 file sizes and not showing live tv. I thought it was the firewall and removed then readded gbpvr and it worked.
Now a second machine is doing this as well but this time, nothing I do, reregister filters, remove and add to the firewall, turn off firewall, turn off antivirus etc. will allow the HDHR to show live tv or record. Again, works just fine in Media Center. The channels mapped perfectly as well.
Logs enclosed.

  Firewire as second capture card
Posted by: JimmyA - 2009-03-14, 07:24 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (26)

I am using graphrecorder to define my unsupported Avermedia Bravo Hybrid card as an analog device. I am using a firewire connection for channel changing. I also want to be able to record via firewire.

I have a couple of questions about this setup:

Can I have separate EPGs as the firewire connection will only pick up unencrypted channels?

Can I randomly choose which device to use for LiveTV and recording?

Currently, it appears as though it is using firewire for preview and I lose audio after a few seconds. It plays fine in GraphEdit.

Thanks in advance.

  Minimum requirements, upgrade?
Posted by: McBainUK - 2009-03-14, 06:14 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (12)

What is considered to be the minimum requirements for GB-PVR and the pvrx2.exe UI?

I've been thinking of upgrades latley and after trying GB-PVR on many machines due to plugin/skin dev work I've realised that my actual HTPC is probably the worst of them all Rolleyes.

CPU: AMD Athlon XP 1500+ (1.36GHz)
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce FX5700 128MB (AGP)
Sound: Integrated 5.1
RAM: 1GB generic
(for full specs see link in sig)

Renderer: VMR9 FSE
Video decoder: ffdshow Video Decoder
Audio decoder: AC3Filter

Which one of the hardware specs do you guys think is the bottle neck here? Or is it all of it?

Would also be interested in hearing comments from people with similar specs and their experiences with GB-PVR menu performance aswel as video playback quality/reliability.

  web scheduler
Posted by: stangdaman - 2009-03-14, 05:37 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (15)

I have two PCs running GBPVR. The web scheduler has been working fine on one for quite some time and I'd like to be able to acess it on both. It's been a while since I set it up though and I'm having some trouble figuring out how to get it going. I can't just use the same port for both of them I'm assuming but how do you determine what to enter for the server port in the GBPVR config?

  EPG not auto-updating

Manually running Update EPG (on UK freeview) works fine.

However, the scheduled run fails. GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log shows multiple entries like this:

  Windows 7 Beta and H264
Posted by: richardw456 - 2009-03-14, 04:33 PM - Forum: General Discussion - No Replies

Didn't know where else to put his, but I wanted to let everyone what happened here with Windows 7 Beta 7048 and PVRX2 yesterday.

I had a day off, and I had downloaded the 7048 beta of Windows 7. I thought I would try it as it had built in h264 decoding, and I saw an article on how to play MKV files in Media C3enter. So, I thought I'd play a bit. Loaded Windows 7 7048, installed FFDshow and Haali Splitter, then a couple REG patches. Set up Media Center, (easy setup, busy program) and when I went to Videos there were the MKV files. And they played!!

I was playing just pieces of them, and I when I got to my DVD rip of Iron Man I started to notice it was sputtering" badly. The sound was fine, but the video looked like everyone was doing the "Robot" (remember that dance?) I tried to get it to use FFDshow, and Media Center just kept using it's internal codec. At least I think it did, the FFDshow tray icon never showed up. Then I installed PVRX2 and set that up. I set the preferred decoder in PVRX2 to FFDshow and tried again. The same stutter, and no tray icon. I tried Media Player Classic Home Cinema and no stutter. (Using the internal codec). I tried forcing the merit on FFDshow to highest and still no FFDshow.

I think when Microsoft included the H264 codec they block all others in Windows from using any other codec for H264 playback on the computer. I wish I had thought to try Graphedit to figure it out, but instead went to Beta 7022 (no H264 codec) and everything went back to normal. I smell a rat here.
