I have two questions. First, I am using XRecord on a High-def TV. I use the Community Skin 3 and it looks great...is there any easy way to modify the XRecord skin so that it uses the better fonts (smoothed curved letters rather than pixely)? I assume I'm asking if this skin can be made HD or not...I have no idea what is involved, but would love to do that if it is not beyond me (I've tinkered with skin alterations, but am really a newbie here).

Second, I really like the idea of password protection. Is there a way to set up the keys.txt file so that all shows taped have a password unless I specifically unprotect them? Alternatively, could I password protect everything in one command, then use a different password for selected shows. I'd like to restrict what my children can get to, but ratings are not available in my listings and I don't want to have to constantly remember to get in and password protect newly taped shows, so I want everything to be password-protected by default.

I am back looking at EWA after a few years. It really looks good. I am missing something though that I just can't find searching the forums.

I can't seem to stream live TV on my wired network (or even directly to localhost) and get a resolution that looks very good. The best so far is set to 1.0 but that still gives me really poor resolution. Should it be able to give me native resolution of the channel, as if I was watching it directly out of PVRX2? If so, how?

I just upgraded from 1.2.13 to 1.3.11. The new GB-PVR and recording service seem to work well. However, I experience a significant increase in navigation delay within PVRX2, especially transitioning to the TV Guide and Recordings pages, and navigating around the different Recordings menus.

My Live TV and Recordings source to a local disc, but a large portion of my recording library sits on a NAS unit elsewhere on the LAN, shared via SMB (//<ip address/<directory>/<recording>). I've used this setup for at least the last 3 or 4 versions of GB-PVR so it seems something has changed.

Through network sniffer, I verified that the HTPC is beating the LAN during almost every button push in the Recordings and TV Guide menus, especially when setting or deleting recordings. I don't know if it is PVRX2, the Recording Service, or both.

I'm not sure why PVRX2 or the Recording Service would need to access the LAN share more than once per navigation, but the delays render PVRX2 nearly unusable.

Short of adding additional HDDs and moving over 400G of recordings onto a local drive, does anybody know if there's a config.xml setting(s) I could flip to disable constant video library reads?

My playback was not good - the video looked OK, but audio would stutter a bit. Live TV looked OK, as long as I was not recording.

My system, while it meets the minimum specs, was a bit on the 'weak' side... (see my sig).
I have two hard drives (C and D). C (30 GB) contains my OS and that's about it. My D is 120 GB and was set for my recordings.
(edit) - C was set as master and D was set as 'slave' on primary IDE channel (end edit)
On a whim, I set everything to run on C - and that fixed my performance issues.

Next, I am going to try connecting my D drive to be the master on my secondary IDE channel - I will update this post with the results once I get a chance to test.

I'm having playback issues... recordings (and even items from my video library) are freezing at seemingly random moments. These are always catastrophic and require a full computer reset as the keyboard and mouse are inoperable.

I've run in windowed mode and checked cpu usage which seems very high 60-80%. I've also tried to recreate the issue in Windows Media Player or VLC and can't manage it, so it seems it's a GBPVR issue.

I'm using Dscaler5 as my video and audio decoders. I've attached the logs. Can anyone see anything that may be causing this?

I'm using Graphrecorder to capture from firewire on my STB. Recently I have had a problem with some entire programs not being recorded - perhaps 5 mins of a 1 hour program. This seems to be concentrated on a channel that has a malformed TS stream.

Attached is the recording service log from an attempt to record Medium at 2200 on 2/16/09. This was a back-to-back recording following a program on the analog capture source. Also, I'm running contig and comskip in postprocessing.bat file and have comskip set to play nicely and run at low priority.

This problem may have started after I installed the 1/26/09 graphrecorder dll?

Any thoughts?

I'm rebooting the HTPC daily using a Windows scheduled task, and then restarting GBPVR and trying to update the EPG with the following batch file:

I know this is a terribly overworked issue but...

How can I test, on demand, an EPG update, that calls the UpdateEPG.bat in the System session (NOT interacting with desktop)?

I'm reworking my tools, and to date they've depended on 'Interacting with Desktop' and I wanna stop that...

I've tried Updating the EPG from the Capture Sources in Config, From the GUI in System, from right-clicking the tray icon.. All of them launch the UpdateEPG.bat in Desktop session.

Of course if I wait to the Update Time, then it does launch, but then while testing, it's a real waiting game.

I'd like to be able to trigger it manually and instantly

I really thought that one of the other methods did that already, but it doesn't seem to be happening for me...
