For everyone who has trouble blasting with HIP and hipsend n hipwsend, try this one...
It does the same thing but uses the http server built into hip to communicate with. It also has added benefit of not needing 'Interact with desktop' checked on gbpvr service.. so troubles blasting because of Rec. service logon are no more!
From my use, it is also much faster and doesn't suffer that '3rd number pause' that seems to plague hipwsend...[where 1st 2 numbers are fast,third is after about a sec. delay]
Also, it can be used from another machine if need be...
Only requires a single localhost http port to be opened,so no firewall issues, and configures just like any other blaster .exe.
Any open port may be used..8084 is just a suggestion..

Channel # is only mandatory paramater.
examples: "net2hipsend 107" or "net2hipsend 107 500" or "net2hipsend 107 500 127.0.0.1 8090 002"
options must include all preceding options, so to specify port, you must also specify all preceding options, delay only needs the channel # before it.. In config for normal use on local machine,port 8084 and no delays, choose net2hipsend.exe as executable, and " {channel}" for params with both boxes underneath unchecked..ok out of config..
to setup HIP: go to preferences and turn on web server, set 8084 as port, and browse to the HIPDefault.htm under HIP\http\ and click ok...
[assuming you already have the blasting ir commands learned in hip, tested inside HIP to light-up blasters]
Just click on http://localhost:8084/index.htm for a nice screenshot and manual controls..
If you don't see that page then a firewall is probably getting in the way or try a different port..[like 8086]
The remote suffix is the second part of the ir blast command's numbers, eg for #1 in hip it's 1.001 for most, with the number 1 and a .001 suffix, adjust yours if you have different suffix on your blast commands to have multiple blast remotes.
[The vast majority of users will have 001, only multiple blasting remotes would have more]

my channel changes are so fast now, they are done before the video displays even!
[it doesn't use DotNet or anything bulky, just Autoit3 script, easily decompilable into source..]
if you'd like to take it and run with it and make it better, by all means please do..
just leave it de-compilable or include the source...
EDIT: Changed default port to 8084 to avoid conflicts with EWA web streaming, and removed logging to re-enable use from any account..
P.S. no longer beta,works fine for months, few user problems..
now even faster as i just get the size of the web page, not the data itself, so even errors on web page won't trip it up.
I haven't tried to watch everything yet but most of the shows starting at 9 got fritzed. I looked at the computer and the tray icon was green but would do nothing. I looked in the task manager and the recording service was not running.
Aaaaaarg! What happened? What can I do? It sucks that I can't count on this damn thing anymore.
It seems like I'm having problems with every single thing I do with this new version and digital recordings. I'm not sure where to even start.
Have a problem with the root pvr menu on the mvp. I have included a picture for reference.
Taking into account the actual boundaries of the projected image on the TV, the menu image is being clipped on the top, and is shifted to the right so there is a inch or more gap from the actual left screen boundary. When I tune to an actual video or live TV the image is full screen.
I have been trying to deal with the MVP and AVI dilemma...

mentioning copying the on-the-fly mpg file generated for MVP and an alternative on using FFDSHOW to convert to mpg.
But I'm wondering, is there any simple method to direct the gbpvr software to do on the fly transcoding but to a permanent file?

Not to keep hounding you about this but I'm still experiencing DEP problems even with the latest patches from the survival guide. I try to initiate a QAM scan and it crashes the config.exe each and every single time with a DEP error. Everything else seems to be fine such as recording, watching live TV, I can even preview already scanned channels in the config, but try to initiate a scan and *crash*. Swapping in place the old PsiParser and I can scan without issue minus some channels that keep coming up missing.
At this point after looking at all sides of the issue I think the problem actually resides in the config.exe itself. You did mention something about changing some of the logic involved with the latest patches and my guess something is occuring that the config.exe is not able to compensate for. Logs are useless as everything looks normal up to the point of the crash and the windows dump shows nothing that makes sense to me. I can provide you with a copy of it will be of any help, just say the word.
I've tried WinTV7 in Vista, 2 W7 installs and 2 XP installs. I've tried with both my HVR2250 and my HVr1600 and the 2250 only works with QAM in XP. Can't get it to work at all in Vista or W7. Once again, something about Media Center must be knocking it out.
I can't find where it saves the channel info to try and carry it over to Vista but it does have a much better, slicker face to it. Much improved but GBPVR has nothing to worry about.....it's not even close.
I have gone into Config -> Capture Sources to set up the tuner and tune channels.
I have set the EPG Source as DVB EPG Broadcast.
Now at the Edit Recording Source if I click on Update EPG a dialog box pops up saying Updating EPG then it disappears. But then there are no channels listed where there should be Channels.
If I then click on Map digital channels to EPG channels, Digital Channel Mapping pops up, then the entire Config box all disappears.
I can't seem to find the recording button on my PCH remote. Is there a button I can use that has the same functionality? I'd really like to be able to schedule a quick recording with just one push of a button.
I am trying to make a GBPVR client (PVRX2 1.0.16) boot straight into PVRX2 using the advanced method listed on the Wiki and initially posted on this thread about booting straight into GBPVR.
When PVRX2 is manually started the setup works fine using file sharing and has done for some time.
The client is XP and the server Vista home both on a home network (There is a mismatch in client and server versions, client:1.0.16 and server: 1.2.9).
I've followed the steps in the wiki, excluding a couple to remove the mouse pointer and taskbar as i wanted to check it worked before i got rid of them. PVRX2 starts with an unhandled exception in the attached file.
I thought it might be that the client tried to contact the server before it had an ip address (was DHCP) so i set fixed IP's for the client and instead of the server name in confix i used the IP.
So what i would like to know, is anyone using PVRX2 with this boot into gbpvr method? Does it still work. Or can anyone suggests why PVRX2 fails with an exception?
Edit: This should probably be in support now, not general. Can it be moved?
(Sorry i'm not using the most recent versions, i havent had chance to upgrade yet. She is threatening to make me buy a standard tv recorder if i miss any recordings for her and i darent risk it!)
