Now only MPV filter codec works
Posted by: tjc - 2009-02-20, 08:14 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

After trying several different video codecs, only the MPV filter is working now, but it has problems with fast moving video or panning video. Before recently registering and testing several codecs, the Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder worked the best. (clvsd.ax ver 8.1.0.1608) I have tried three versions of ffdshow, ATI mpeg, Dscaler, Nero, and two or three different Cyberlink codecs, some have no video, some crash gbpvr, some have jerky video. Even the once working Cyberlink codec was not perfect video during fast moving or panning scenes but it was better than MPV filter. I even downloaded a trial version of NVidia PureVideo but it also crashed gbpvr. Could I have messed something up with gbpvr while testing the other codecs?

As the title says, XRecord is not working on the MVP, it hangs GBPVR. But it works in the GBPVR server.

Am using GBPVR ver 1.3.11

Where are you, FFMPEG Gurus, I need advice!
Posted by: Reddwarf - 2009-02-20, 08:20 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (11)

After countless trial-and-error I'v finally managed to get a fairly good conversion of recorded analog TV-shows using FFMPEG. I'v given up MENCODER since it works for most of my recordings but not all. The quality of the resulting -avi file is, as far as I can see, good, but the conversion is slow.

Evan with my new AMD64-X2-6000+ cpu it takes more than an hour to convert a 45 min show. Tha commandlines looks as follows:

"C:\Programfiler\devnz\gbpvr\Third Party\FFmpeg\ffmpeg.exe" -i "%~dpn1.mpg" -threads 2 -an -s 768x576 -pass 1 -vcodec h264 -b 1200k -flags +loop -cmp +chroma -partitions +parti4x4+partp8x8+partb8x8 -me epzs -subq 1 -trellis 0 -refs 1 -bf 16 -b_strategy 1 -coder 1 -me_range 16 -g 250 -keyint_min 25 -sc_threshold 40 -i_qfactor 0.71 -bt 142282 -rc_eq "blurCplx^(1-qComp)" -qcomp 0.6 -qmin 10 -qmax 51 -qdiff 4 "%~dpn1.avi"

"C:\Programfiler\devnz\gbpvr\Third Party\FFmpeg\ffmpeg.exe" -i "%~dpn1.mpg" -threads 2 -s 768x576 -pass 2 -vcodec h264 -b 1200k -flags +loop -cmp +chroma -partitions +parti8x8+parti4x4+partp8x8+partp4x4+partb8x8 -me umh -subq 7 -trellis 1 -refs 6 -bf 16 -directpred 3 -b_strategy 1 -bidir_refine 1 -coder 1 -me_range 16 -g 250 -keyint_min 25 -sc_threshold 40 -i_qfactor 0.71 -bt 142282 -rc_eq "blurCplx^(1-qComp)" -qcomp 0.6 -qmin 10 -qmax 51 -qdiff 4 -acodec mp3 -ar 44100 -ab 128k -y "%~dpn1.avi"

Is there a way to reduce the processing time without reducing quality or increasing the file size too much (the converted size is now about 30% of original size)?

Recordings being cut off, multi record problem?
Posted by: psycik - 2009-02-20, 07:19 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

Getting an issue that I think is multirecord related.

Recording shortland st every night off tv2 7pm to 7:30. Comes of DVB-S generally.

On Fridays (and other days the same problem shows up), Americas next top model starts at 7:30. Shortland st is generally cut off. Looking at the log you can see the Americas Next top model start bang on 7:30. Again off the DVB-S.

Why, when there are two pvr500 tuners sitting there idle, will it use the same tuner?

Logs are attached.

Code:
<PreferAlternatingCaptureSources>false</PreferAlternatingCaptureSources> <TryToHonourPaddingIfPossible>true</TryToHonourPaddingIfPossible>

Not sure what effect these with have with multirecord, and show I turn on the PreferAlternatingCaptureSources, but not sure what effect that will have on two recordings off same frequency?

  PVRx2 stalls on start
Posted by: gwerstiuk - 2009-02-20, 06:33 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Older computer, but brand new install of everything after HD bit the dust. I believe I installed all pre-requisites with new windows install but may have missed somthing. When I start PVRx2 I get the blue title bar at top of screen and tray icon but nothing else. I've attached logs from multiple false starts. Let me know if any other info would be useful.

Record using 'Search Guide' not working
Posted by: plum - 2009-02-20, 03:59 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (14)

I upgraded to the latest version and when I search for a show using 'Search Guide', I can't double click to chose for recording. Also, when I select a show from the 'TV Guide', it does not give me the option to record all shows for the season. It only gives me the choice of 'Record Once'. I am running XP and using Schedule Direct for the EPG.

  RadioLogos folder?
Posted by: toboR - 2009-02-20, 03:43 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

What's the purpose of this folder?

I checked the wiki and I searched here, but I couldn't find a mention.

I'm guessing that it's supposed to work like ChannelLogos, but I can't seem to get any logos to display.

Help! Switch to Comcast digital, dont know what to do!
Posted by: lxmustang89 - 2009-02-20, 03:04 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Hello,

Ive been using GBPVR for about 4 years now on regular cable and its been great. Im about to move in a week or so and the only service where ill be moving is Comcast digital (the guy I talked to on the phone, probably in india, was hard to understand but Im pretty sure digital w/HD is the only option). I was told that I would need one box (provided free of charge) which would work for the entire house, and that the only reason I would need set-top boxes on each TV is if I choose to get an HD package w/video on demand, which I dont need. (this does not sound accurate from what I have been reading)

I currently have a hauppauge PVR-250 (i think its a 250, its the one with the video out that locks everything up, but I use an s-video out vid card anyway). Its also got an FM tuner, which I dont use, and a remote w/IR reciever which is a must have. The machine is a P4 2.4 ghz w/ 1.5 Gigs of ram, audigy sound card.

If someone could point me to some required reading on what I will need to do to get up and running again once we move it would be greatly appreciated. Any recommendations on tuner cards? I really dont want to have to juggle 3 remotes just to watch tv (TV, tuner box, and the PVR remote) so im thinking if a box on each tv will be required Ill just try and build 3 systems, one for each of our TVs... however two of them will be quite slow machines as thats all I have laying around (a P3 1 ghz w/512 of ram, would it even work?)

How difficult is it mapping out all these QAM channels?

Thanks, Im just really lost on this. Its all totally new to me!
