  High CPU utilization
Posted by: TomR - 2009-02-12, 11:30 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (12)

I'm experiencing high CPU utilization using PVRX2 v1.3.11.

When I start PVRX2 my CPU usage goes to 99%. This is when I start the application before I do anything else.

When I try to go into the TVGuide it is very slow at display the channel listing. It takes about 3-5 seconds for each channel to be listed in the guide.

Has anyone else experienced this and if so how was it corrected?

My computer is a Dell Optiplex GX260 P4 2.26 GHz with 1 GB Ram.

Is this what I can expect out of this computer or should I be seeing something more usable?

I have attach the pvrx2.exe.log and pvrx2.exe-native.log log file for anyone who can help me out.

Thanks for any help.

  Wireless MVP
Posted by: Bobins - 2009-02-12, 11:20 PM - Forum: MVPMC dongle - Replies (1)

Martin,

Is there anything special I need to do to get the Wireless MVP to load the mvpmc dongle?

My wired MVPs load fine but the wireless one loads it's internal default Hauppauge dongle.

Although it's wireless, I don't actually use the wireless and it's connected hard wired to my network. The XP firewall is disabled.

Regards,

Ray.

Recordingservice stopping - no error msg
Posted by: ACTCMS - 2009-02-12, 10:54 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (17)

1.3.11 - Nova-T500 - MVP - mvpmc dongle...

I've been having problems with the recording service stopping without any error messages (that I can see) in the logs - for instance tonight...

19:51 switched on MVP - tuned to STV3 (Pie in the sky)
20:00 STV3 Adventures of Sherlock Holmes begins
20:25 BBC Four scheduled recording starts 5 min pre-pad (Alison Krauss)
21:00 STV3 Numb3rs begins
21:08 BBC Four scheduled recording finishes 8 min post-pad
21:28 tuner 2 changes to Sky 3 (I didn't touch anything - honest gov)

around about then recordingservice seems to have stopped...

I don't have a clue where to start looking... unfortunately, I had 2 MVP servers started on this machine (and there was another MVP sitting on screen saver), so the MVP-PVRX2.exe.log looks like it's worth zilch - I've changed it to 1 now.

I did have ADplus running attached to gbpvrrecordingservice.exe - would the logs from that be of any use?

GB-PVR rec. service locks my classlib
Posted by: bgowland - 2009-02-12, 09:39 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (6)

The title says it all really. I discovered recently that when I try to copy a new version of the DvbrLib.dll into the plugins\DvbRadio folder, Windows tells me the file is 'in use' by another person/process. I found out I have to stop the GB-PVR recording service to allow the file to be copied.

I'm not sure what I've changed in my code or how this can possibly be happening. The dvbr solution consists of the plugin itself, the dvbr service (Windows Service) and the DVbrLib.dll which is purely for shared classes (collections and datasets etc. which both the plugin and service use).

What's really odd is that simply restarting the gbpvr rec. service still won't allow me to copy the dvbrlib.dll in - as if the rec. service stops/starts and regains its lock. I have to stop the rec. service, copy the dll then restart the rec. service.

What is there in the rec. service that would maintain an open handle on a plugin's class library.

Cheers,
Brian

  Missing recorded shows
Posted by: medic29 - 2009-02-12, 09:26 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

For the moment I have the config set to store recordings on a network share (tons more space than the internal HD) As I continued recording shows I would see the list of avail. recordings grow, watch a few and delete, and so on, but a couple days ago I noticed that the list was almost empty! Files are still there, but the refference to them is missing.

Now thinking along the network side, the server I am using for storage has always been up so no loss of connectivity should be an issue.
Is there a process which goes through and cleans out the the DB entry for recordings?

This is also reflected in the EWA manage recordings screen.
Thanks!

Pause then hibernate doesn't save resume location
Posted by: dslowik - 2009-02-12, 09:13 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (3)

I've got my machine set to hibernate after 30 minutes of inactivity. My wife will often pause while watching a recording and not get back to it until after it hibernates. I'm guessing it updates the resume location in the database when you actually stop rather than pause. I think it'd be nice if it updated it on a pause too.

  M780 qam
Posted by: jschoef - 2009-02-12, 08:31 PM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

I have set everything up correctly for QAM but when it scans for channels, it doesnt find any. Avermedia's tool finds QAM and Vista Media Center (with the TV Pack). I dont want to use Vista Media Center as it seems to change the mapping of the QAM channels almost daily...so NBC will be Fox and the guide thinks its NBC.

So if there are any tips on how to get GBPVR to find QAM channels on the m780, that would be great.

  Using ATI HDTV Wonder?
Posted by: Miles - 2009-02-12, 07:19 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (7)

GBPVR looks like it should be a great program! I'm a first time user and I can't get it working with my HDTV Wonder. I didn't get any search results here and the ones I found through Google didn't help. I'm probably overlooking something simple but I've spent hours already.

GBPVR installs and config finds the card installed. However I'm not using an EPG and don't know how to manually enter channels. I've tried putting the physical channel in the tuning request column. When I try to record or watch TV nothing happens, no errors either.

Is there an easy way to confirm I have .NET 2.0? I know I have 1.1 and 3.5. I have the other required software installed. Does it matter which version ATI driver I have? I've been using the card for years and haven't wanted to fix something that wasn't (terribly) broken.

Also, I don't see a way to use the analog portion of the card.

  Zero Byte Recordings
Posted by: jnikora - 2009-02-12, 05:47 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

I am having the same problem on two separate installations on a network with HDHomerun. On one machine I tried Quick record and got nothing. I changed the directories and tried again - go a 0 byte file. I then tried a scheduled record and got a 10.3 Mb file - about 10 seconds of a 90 minute show. I was recording the same show on the other machine and I got a zero byte file on that one, too. I tried another scheduled recording and got another 0 byte file. I am recording off of ATSC. The first time the BDA multiplexer was set on Microsoft DVR-MS and the second time on Full TS - both times Multidec enabled.

The first machine is set at TS Mux and the BDA Multiplexer is enabled - this machine I tried both on and off for multi-record.

I have read a number of threads relating to this issue and followed it to your sticky notes with updated patches. I downloaded them and unzipped them but I am a newbie and afraid to just replace them willy nilly or if that is even what I should do with them. I can provide logs, I think, but not sure what you would need or exactly how to generate them.

Thanks,

Jim
