  lost music streaming
Posted by: ricocarlos - 2009-01-09, 06:10 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (17)

I did something that hosed my music streaming. I can see some files in the temp directory but my pch quickly tells me it cannot play the file whether it is internet radio or mp3 files that it used to play.
What do I need to check?

Laptop connected to 1080p TV - Help
Posted by: vskatusa - 2009-01-09, 06:09 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (7)

Hi,

I feel a laptop with the right configuration will be the best bet for an HTPC.

However, I have a question.

My sharp TV is a FULL HD 1080p (1920x1060) 32 inch.

I want to connect the laptop to my TV using ONLY hdmi (with video + sound).

To get full 1920x1080 display in my sharp TV do I need to buy

(1) A laptop whose display is 1920x1080 (FULL HD)?
OR
(2) A laptop which has a display resolution : 1600 x 900 and with ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3650 graphics card will suffice?

In other words, is the display in the sharp TV a function of the laptop display or laptop's graphics card?

HVR 1600 advice EPG, Remote, DVD playback
Posted by: kputer - 2009-01-09, 02:38 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hi all, it's been a while and now I have another HTPC. Sorry if I’m being lazy but if anyone can answer the following I'll be greatly appreciative:

What do you recommend for EPG in the US with hopefully enhanced info? I saw a few options in the wiki and don’t know where to start or if they are free. Can I use my Snapstream login?

It sounds like the 45 button Hauppauge remote should work. So I want to also playback DVD movies on the pc, can I do this and control it with the remote? I can control the pc with my rf keyboard/trackball but it would be nice if the remote would work. So far I have Nero7 with Showtime to watch DVD’s installed, will that codec be a problem?

Thanks again, Kputer

  Picture freezing on Client machine
Posted by: Slice - 2009-01-09, 10:26 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Hi all,

Hope you are all well, been a long time since I've posted here.

I'm having a slight issue and was wondering if anyone could help, I have a new install of XP SP3 on my server and GBPVR 1.3.7 with the survival patches installed.
My client is also XP SP3, (not a fresh install)

The issue is that on the client machine on a change of show - the audio remains but the picture freezes, it's not a complete lockup, I can go back to the TV guide and then select the station again.
I've tried with the clent streaming and the DVR-MS Mux selected on the server and the client file sharing and the TS Mux selected.
The server doesn't show this issue!

Any ideas anyone? I've attached the logs of both client and server if anyone is interested!

Many thanks,

DaveR

new install only red button works
Posted by: tkgafs - 2009-01-09, 08:29 AM - Forum: Recording2, MusicLibrary2, SystemStatus Support - Replies (4)

For various reasons I have re-installed my gbpvr setup which had been working fine for years, going through each upgrade as it came out.

But for some strange reason I could not update the community skin or the skin plugin, their install always failed because they didnt apparently have write permissions to the folders they wanted to install into. Everything else seemed to be able to install, so I thought what the heck I'll just re-install the whole thing.

The re-install went fine without any difficulties and the skins stuff installed fine as well.

But since then Musiclibrary2 only responds to the red, blue, yellow and green buttons if I am using the standard blue skin.

If I use the community skin only the red button works

the keyboard shortcuts react in the same way

I think it may be some interaction between MLpanel and musiclibrary2 but I dont know why as this set up worked perfectly before

As far as I know I am using latest versions of everything

to get album art displayed I have to either use the blue skin or back out of musiclibrary and select the mlpanel plugin

has anybody seen this issue and if so how do I fix it

No Video Pinnacle PCTV HD Ultimate Stick
Posted by: Tonka - 2009-01-09, 06:07 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

I just installed a clean XP for this running SP3. The capture is a pinnacle PCTV HD Ultimate stick. It plays fine with the TV Center Pro that comes with it. It will scan and find OTA Digital channels with GBPVR but when I go to live TV there is just a blank screen. No Audio or Video. Also when I go to video library and point it to a ripped video_ts folder it locks GBPVR up. Any suggestion of where to start?

  ATI 550, playback video freezes
Posted by: Ommina - 2009-01-09, 04:12 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I'm not convinced this is a GBPVR problem, but, well, I'd like to rule it out.

We have here a machine built around the ATI 550 capture card, and it has worked pretty well for the past couple of years. Once everything was put together, it was pretty much forgotten about and it just did what it did.

Recently, however, we've been having problems on playback. If playing from the MPEG2 recording, the video will freeze, sometimes permanently, sometimes restarting again a few minutes further into the playback.

If I let the transcoding option do its thing, the video will play through, but the audio and video will get out of sync (starting at the same place the MPEG2 version would freeze).

If I take the same file to a different machine and play it back there (via Zoom Player in this case), it plays through, BUT, there is a definite burp (maybe even a belch) at the same point. Maybe only a stutter, or may skip forward a few seconds into the video.

With this in mind, I'm reasonably confident that the issue lies with the recording, not with the playback. Presumably, for example, the transcoding is also choking at the same place, skips by the corrupt video as best it is able, and picks up from there, and that's what is getting the sound out of sync.

No changes were made on the recording machine for... fow, months. It just, well, began misbehaving. I did upgrade the 550 drivers to the newest version after it started as a test, but it didn't make any difference.

Given that the 550 does hardware encoding right on the card and (I think?) just dumps the video out without too much processing, I'm guessing that there is a problem with the card.

Still, it's only a guess. Config does let me set up different bitrates and the like, so presumably there is some processing going on.

If the card has died, well, so be it. But I don't want to invest in a new one unless I KNOW that that is the case.

So, anybody have any ideas what could be wrong, or tests I can do to find out? I don't have another machine with a PCI slot that has enough guts to test out the card, so my first plan of just sticking the card into an alternate machine has been thwarted.

I'm open to ideas.

PVRX2 windowed mode from command line?

Is there a command line switch I can throw in to start pvrx2 in windowed mode rather than full screen?
