Hi I had a quick scan through the forum & wiki and couldn't spot an answer (maybe it was too obvious for me ) so I thought I'd ask here.
I've been using gbpvr for a couple of months now and letting it leave recordings in the default TS format. So the hard drive is happily filling up
I never got around to turning on that task to auto-convert recordings to mpeg2, xvid, divx, wmv or whatever because I was unsure (a) which was most efficient/fastest and (b) which created the best quality (out of the box without endless hours of testing different encoder settings). I guess I'd avoid wmv.
1) So basically, is there a general consensus on which is best, or most popular? (This forum doesn't support polls... does it?)
2) Once I enable this post-processing, will gbpvr process everything? (How will it decide what is a recent recording and what isn't)
I'm having some trouble with my MediaMVP and Gbpvr and mpeg files. When I use the skip function, usually in reverse, audio sync is lost. If I repeat a few times, I can regain sync. Is this a format issue? If so, what format can I use that is better?
I have an HVR-1800. After installing, TV Pack 2008 and making the the required Registry entry, GBPVR no longer works with QAM channels. Removing registry entry, GBPVR works with QAM channels again. Any workaround so I can use both MC and GBPVR?

I previously got good service out of Yapi2xml with one tuner. Naturally, so many things have changed, including possibly the performance of the Yahoo server, that I really have no idea what's going on. Now I have two tuners, a 1250 OEM(885), and a 1250MCE. Both have identical reception characteristics.
The program guide wasn't working. My thoughts vacillated between something wrong with the Yapi2xml local data, or a damaged db3 file. Except for the blankness, the guide was arranged logically, with apparently correct channel mappings.
Faced with a persistently blank program guide, today I deleted the db3 file. I then reinstalled the tuners and scanned both, ATSC only, picking up an identical set of stations. Yapi2xml appears to have delivered data to the disk, though I have no way of checking for validity.
I then proceeded to "map digital channels", and this is where things went kaflooey. It seems that those stations which were actually scanned were automatically assigned channel numbers. But the analog channels, for which there is no tuner, were all brought in as channel zero. In order to tidy things up, I deleted each analog channel and reinstalled it with a digital channel number. For example, Channel 3, an analog channel, was reinstalled with Channel Number 301, for which I already have an appropriate Yapi2xml mapping.
Then I began to have the "but I thought I..." experience. Under the tab "Channels", I discover that the re-added channels now have numbers incrementing from 4401. Coincidentally, there is a digital station with channel number 4401.
I kept working at it, and continued to have "But I thought I..." experiences. I deleted the mis-configured channels, and added them again. Once again, they show up in the "Channels" tab, and "Remove unreferenced channels" has no effect. The program guide remains blank.
The more I work at it, the worse it gets. Eventually, my thinking tilted toward the idea that maybe something in the EPG is poisoning the database.
Has anyone found that, perhaps, Schedules Direct is a solution to the above?
Have you tried the Cyberlink Demux (PDVD8) filter from the latest PowerDVD 8 patch build 2217U?
It works well within graphedit for splitting the h.264 video and he-aac audio of NZ freeview shows. Can also play the NZ ts files succesfully in windows media player.
Was wondering if the Cyberlink Demux (PDVD8) filter would work in GB-PVR?
Would be great if i could use the CyberLink Audio Decoder (PDVD8) to decoder the he-aac audio since it sounds alot better than the MONOGRAM AAC Decoder.
I got a PS3 about a month ago and have been looking at the best way to stream recordings from my GBPVR pc to my HDTV using it. After much trial and error, here is what I have come up with:
Option #1 -
Use a UPNP server (like tversity). Works but the problem is that you are browsing files by filename. It's ok when you have an idea of what you want to watch (for example, the newest 'House' I recorded) but bad for my kids and wife because they are used to the MVP/Native GBPVR interface.
Option #2 -
Use the web browser built into the PS3 to browse the Web pages from my GBPVR box. Issues there are AJAX support (ps3 doesn't have it) so there are repeated Javascript errors that make it very cumbersome to browse because you have to repeatedly dismiss the errors. The other issues are the inability for the PS3 browser to run some of the Javascript so you can't uncheck 'pending' recordings so they don't show in the list. Frustration for WAF and kids.
Option #3 - Thought I could use the RSS feed, but again PS3 browser doesn't display an RSS feed, thinks it's a file and tries to download it.
Option #4 - This is what I ended up doing. I used the Yahoo Pipes tool to feed two aspx files I created in the Web/Public folder in GBPVR. The first page displays a list of all of the show names from the 'Completed' RSS feed. When you click on a name, a second web page loads with the episode list. When you click on the episode title, it streams to the PS3. Works well.
Just wondering if anyone else is using a PS3 to access recordings and how they decided to tackle this?
Just installed this on a gbpvr running 1.3.7 Setup video folders in config to point to my networked share loccation. On the gbovr system it shows all my folders no problem. I set it to a unc path and to a mapped drive. But when I go to the mvp it says there are no videos.
What am I not doing right?
Recordings from my HD-PVR lock up PVRx2 (or in rare cases I just get audio with no video). I can watch LiveTV fine (most of the time) off the HD-PVR. Recordings and LiveTV off my QAM tuners have no problems.
Short of getting you a log from one of the rare times that I get just audio what else can I try?
