Situation: Two sources have independent EPGs in XMLTV format. Both XML listings supply the same station with the same ID name, but on different channel numbers. For example, one source (source_oid=1) is analog cable NTSC and has the local WXYZ name associated with channel 7. Another is digital cable (source_oid=2) and has the same guide data for WXYZ on channel 107.
If the XMLTV guide data for source 2 identifies the channel as WXYZDT, then the EPG shows both channels as separate channels. However, if the source 2 guide data calls it WXYZ (same name as the analog) then only the channel 7 is in the EPG. The channel 107 is not.
In this case of two identical names, GBPVR will show one of the sources when live TV is selected and show the other if the first source is busy recording. This is good. It knows it can get the program even when source 2 is busy.
I'm trying to understand this operation better. Which source will it preferentially show (live TV) or record if neither is busy? Does it decide by source number? I prefer the digital as it's better quality.
Suppose they have the same WXYZ name, guide data currently appears under 7 (with other analog listings) but I want to have the data for WXYZ listed in the EPG under 107, and not 7 (so I know I have a good digital source, not just an analog source). What can I change to get the listing under 107?
I just installed GBPVR on my machine, in which I recently installed the Pinnacle HDTV PCI card. This card works ok with Pinnacle's software in terms of tuning/recording digital OTA programs. GBPVR can even find OTA digital stations in the config tool. But when i try to scan the channels found (i.e. preview them in the Match to EPG screen in config) the tool crashes. I only heard a second of program voice and then the confing tool crashes. i also tried to simply watch live TV in GBPVR and it also crashes. Anyone out there has had similar experiences?
I have read about a way to obtain a log of the session for qc purposes, but I have no idea how to get it or who could kindly look at it to try & make some sense of it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Wow, my typing sucks. should have been "Easiest" and "1.2.13" and "1.3.7" in the title. (blush)
Any advice on switching between these two. My 1.2.13 installation has lots of time in it, and I don't want to screw it up. I know I can replace the gbpvr.db3 and config.xml from a fresh 1.3 install .. I have lots of backups, including copies of the entire gbpvr directory, but what steps work well to switch between them. Do I use Windows remove programs to remove 1.2.13 first, then install 1.3.7, then copy over the two files? Or do I install on top of 1.2.13 without first uninstalling?
To go back to 1.2.13 do I again use the Windows uninstaller before reinstalling 1.2.13? To return to 1.2.13 - Do plugins need to be reinstalled from scratch, or can I just copy my complete copy of the previous 1.2.13 installation on top?
I have a slower computer running GBPVR and it just isn't worth the time to wait for the conversion to DVD using something like Showburner. Instead I am just burning the AVI and MPEG files directly from hard drive to DVD.
My question is, is there a way to let GBPVR play these files right from the discs as-is? I assume going to the "DVD" option in the menu wouldn't work as it may be looking for a DVD coded disc (like VOB files etc)
I've written a plugin that creates a background thread. It's causing a hangup (it seems) when the pvr app is exited - the gui goes away but I have to kill the process manually. I am assuming its hanging up waiting for my background thread to finish.
Is there something I should be looking for to know that the pvr app is exiting so I can kill my background thread? Is there a GBPVR.Public.EventTypes.??? that is sent? Are you tired of my questions yet?
