I originally caught this blog post because the author said he had given up on Battlestar Galactica, which I think is the best show in TV by far, so I started out reading this being ticked off.

But he does have an interesting point. I remember while Alias was still on, I had to race through three seasons of DVDs before I could start watching the broadcasts and it did sort of seem like a bit of work.

How many of us have blown through entire DVD sets of shows to 'catch up' to a show in progress?

I've just been trying some TS Mux recordings which seem to go without a hitch but when played back with PVRX2 at my computer (not MVP), the video is fine but there's no audio. VLC plays them without a problem.

I use the MPA audio decoder which normally gives no problems. I tried the Intervideo for Hauppauge decoder which is the only other one I have, and I got sound but it was like people were talking in slow-motion.

Also, if I find the .ts file in Video Library and select Transcode and the TS to MPEG2 option, the popup says it's starting the transcode then disappears within a second or two - nothing in the logs to explain things and no transcoded mpg file (obviously).

I tried opening/rendering one of the .ts files in Graphedit using the GB-PVR TS Reader and the demux 'grew' three audio pins (AAC, AC3 and Audio) which were rendered through audio decoders to three Default DirectSound filters. The PID mappings for the Video and Audio output pins were correct for the relevant streams but still no audio on playback (video was again fine).

The playback issue seems to be audio decoder related but I don't have any other mpeg1/2 audio decoders installed. Any suggestions?

As for transcoding, this is essential as we do pretty much all viewing via the MVP.

I don't have problem with older version though. I have uninstalled the old version completely before installing this 1.3.7.

Did I miss out anything?
I have selected my tuner + country, but I still couldn't add any analog channels to the list.

I cannot seem to get the default save location to change from C:\Temp to my desired drive on a fresh install.
I am trying to save recordings to a different drive but no matter what I have done it keeps reverting back to C:\Temp. I know I saw this in the forums before but I can not seem to find.

Using 1.3.7 I am trying to configure a client. On the Capture Sources tab I have "Configure this machine to act as a client" checked but the Recordings Share and TV Buffer Share are grayed out and disabled. I am able to set the Server and Database Share.

How can I set the Recordings Share and TV Buffer Share? Thanks.

I installed the newest version today - it looks great with the new skin and it looks like it reverts back to blue skin with plug-ins if the new skin isn't available which is a great improvement as well.


However, a slight concern. I use it standalone - no web server or PCH but the first channel I selected to watch windows firewall came up and asked me to unblock pvrx2.exe. I kept it blocked and it still works but where/why is it calling to the outside world?

(Could this be a filter I am using? ie cyberlink or pure video?)

I am having problems finding QAM channels. I am using the device type "Hauppauge HVR-1250MCE (QAM), in the Recording Source options. It does scan, but does not find anything. I am not sure if this problem is caused by my xmltv EPG (optained via yapi2xml). Anyone who has the same card, or similar, that can offer some advice?

Using Cyberlink codec for video or live tv playback if we press any buttons on the remote like pause, ff, stop, prev, etc the screen freezes and I have to use task manager to end the PVRX2 process thread. The VMR and Overlay settings do not change the behavior. Also noticed occasionally video will not even start to play initially.

Using the nvidia codec is better if I use VMR FSE for best results but still have issues with playback occasionally not starting (black screen) and my machine sometimes struggles with VMR. Overlay and nvidia codec used to work best on my HTPC server but now that combination has same or similar issues as the cyberlink codec (e.g. freezes when you try to pause or exit video playback and live tv).

Does this mean multiple channels will work with the HDHomeRun.
