Did i read right that multi record only works for dvb-t ?
If so why cant it do the same for dvb-s ?

I have a pvr-1600 capture card and updated the Hauppauge software to 6.4a. Now there is no audio on live digital channels but they can still be selected. In addition, I get the "unable to start BDA..." error when in config. Unfortunately, the earlier drivers no longer work correctly either. However, it is possible to record digital programming with audio and using the pause/play option works properly. WinTV works as usual also. The log file from filtercheck is attached. My HD (ATSC) DVR-MS recordings made with WINTV-HVR 950 Usb Card are pretty huge. Something like 5.5 Gg for one hour show.

Comskip takes forever to run on these files.

I would also like to transcode them into avi divx. But I guess I am asking too much as these files take easily 3 to 4 hours to convert and my computer would be doing this all night long.

Does anybody know of a commercial app that can cut commercials out of the dvr-ms file reliably and faster than comskip. I am hoping something that takes less than one hour per episode.

My mpg recordings are scanned, closed captions extracted and cut to about 550 MG in 20 minutes.

I upgraded to the latest version of gbpvr yesterday. I had no problems installing the new version and I haven't made any other changes. Now when I try to access one of my menu items under the "Video" category it doesn't show the directory listing of the movies, nothing happens, it just stays on the same screen. This video menu item is linked to a directory on another computer on my network. It worked fine before I upgraded. The other menu items under my "Video" that are linked to a directory on my gbpvr computer still work. This problem only happens when using the Popcorn Hour, when I use PVRX2 on my computer directly it does work. I hope the above makes sense. Any help would be appreciated.

Made the mistake of upgrading to 1.3.7 (was hoping the HD-PVR 5.1 would work) and after the upgrade my PCH will not play any video. Any video I tell it to play including Live TV just drops me back to previous screen after a few seconds. Looked in the logs and don't see any errors.

Ideas?

I'm new to this forum and hope to one day use the gbpvr on a laptop of mine as a PVR solution

I'm currently looking at buying a PVR input device which I can use to feed my digital box receiver into my computer which will then be recorded using a PVR software and outputted onto the TV.

So if I understand everything correctly...

1) there is no way to surpass my digital receiver (set top box) with some computer component? The digital cable receiver gets an encrypted tv signal over my cable connection and unencrypts it, which gets fed to the TV.
It seems that there are Cable Cards, but in Canada non of the cable providers offer them: CableCARD - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
furthermore cable card 2.0 specification hasn't yet been implemented which supports Switched Digital Video

2) this means that the all feeds that would go to the PVR would have to be intercepted between the HD receiver (set top box) and the TV.

3) The way I see it I could buy either the Hauggauge WinTV-HVR-1950 or the HD-PVR. Are there any other good products out there worth looking at?

4) If I were to use the WinTV-HVR-1950, I would have to connect the HD receiver unit to the TV connection on the 1950. That would mean you go from component output (connected on HD receiver) to coaxial TV cable (for 1950 input). Would this work? Would there be quality loss in either video or audio if you go from component to coaxial? I don't think it would...since it's coming in initially in through this connection...but I'm not sure.
The computer would then output to the TV from VGA to composite (for CRT) or DVI to HDMI(for LCD TV).

5) For non-HD channels you don't need a HD receiver box for your TV. You can get channels 1 to ~58. So this means I could also input another feed into the HVR-1950's RCA (composite) input connectors on the other side of the 1950 unit. Can gbpvr/the 1950 device use two inputs at once? Could I stream the this second input over the UPnP mediaserver? I could then watch non-HD channels in the rest of my house without affecting HD shows that are recording?

Great release. I can't find your new tool to designate the epg transponder. I am sure it is under my nose, but I can't find it. When I finish the channel scan, it asks if I want to update the EPG and when I do, it almost immediatly goes back to the "edit recording source page" It does not even try to update the EPG. And I do have the source set to DVB-EPG broadcast.:confused:

This is an early release for those that actively look at the forums. I have not managed to do all the items on the wishlist as work and family stuff has taken almost all of my time up recently.

4. Xtraemulators support using the display nane of the selected file (used in Final Burn Alpha) - Done
5. Added some additional tooltips to the config applet.

sub....love the ability to record multiple shows from a single digital stream.

I mapped my SD channels today and Verizon has most of the major networks all on one channel which makes it convienient.

I noticed that the tray monitor could use a format change to space out what is recording on the tuner....the horizontal approach runs it off the side of the screen.....perhaps taking the vertical approach and having each recording listed on a separate line under the tuner would have better usability.

With the new 1.3.7 GBPR the system doesn't wake up to record the TV scheduling.
