I followed some excellent looking advice on Geekzone to try NextPVR. I have been using MythTV for a few years, but it doesn't seem to be well supported now.
It has installed OK on my Ubuntu 20.04.3 server. I plugged my two USB turners into it and tried a scan. No channels found with any Wellington config file (I am using Fitzherbert, which should be covered by /usr/share/dvb/dvb-t/nz-WellingtonInfill )
I've got a vast amount of PC experience (using Linux since about 1998), but not a lot with UHF and tuners. I do wonder how the frequencies specified in /usr/share/dvb/dvb-t/nz-WellingtonInfill related to those listed on https://www.rsm.govt.nz/assets/Uploads/d...-table.pdf ?
I then plugged the tuners back into the MythTV box (without changing anything else) and that still works fine.
I would love to have a favorites list so that I can easily browse my favorite channels in one folder. I have an iptv service with thousands of channels and dozens of folders.
If I could pick my own channels it would be easier to find programs I want to record or watch and not miss as much because I did not check that folder.
I spent two days searching & trying to figure this out, gave up, and joined the forum today for help. I have a working setup of NextPVR on a PC running Ubuntu. I can play live TV or recorded shows via a web browser from a different PC. I can also play the recordings through KODI from a different PC or on my FireTV Cube. So basically everything is working except when it comes to using VLC.
I cannot figure out how to play a recording in VLC while running on a different PC. In VLC I have tried Media->Open Network Stream and entered http://<myserver>:8866/live?recording=<XXX>
What I'm doing is either wrong or I'm not entering the proper value for XXX.
Am I feeding it the proper URL path?
How does one figure out what recording ID number to feed to VLC?

Was hoping someone might be able to help me with this. I have a Dvico FusionHDTV7 Dual Express, which i have currently in an arch based server running Kodi-gbm standalone. I've finally gotten around to getting this tuner card in and it seems all installed well and fine. It found my local channels and i figured there was no issues. Went to stream it live, and i keep getting a Failed to create writer error on the adapter, as well as 404 and 500 errors from the clients.
I've tried to stream it via the webserver with no luck. It initializes the stream and then errors out with a 404 error. Please see the attached logs. Let me know if anyone knows anything.
I'm a newcomer to NextPVR, and so far have been impressed.
I have two AppleTV4 - one is a 4K, the other is a the first gen AppleTV4.
I'm trying to setup streaming for NZ Television (streams courtesy of https://www.matthuisman.nz) - however, I have the following problems:
TVNZ1, TVNZ2 + Prime all will play for about 15 seconds, then freeze, then play, then freeze. Playing from a Windows PC, these playback fine. Same thing happens if I record TV, then try a playback.
Also, Al Jazeera looses it's audio.
I've tried all manner of settings, but nothing seems to improve the feeds. (It *seems* to be related to when the stream is in HD or FHD, 576i seems to be fine, which a lot of the other channels are).
What I have got going is to setup nextpvr to talk to a tvheadend server, with that tvheadend server being set to perform transcoding on the fly - that seems to work.
Unchecking the box to "prefer direct stream" to try and force transcoding doesn't appear to work.
Has anyone else seen this? Perhaps it's a "feature" of tvOS15? (Both units are on the latest tvOS).
couldn't find the answer to this but perhaps I missed it... I have NPVR on my home (desktop) PC. When we travel in the motorhome I take a laptop. I have NPVR installed on the laptop - is there a way to copy recordings from one to the other? I tried the KISS approach (just copied one of the recording sub-folders from one to the other PC) and it didn't seem to work. Nothing shows up under Recordings.
