  Static ip address problem
Posted by: Armsp0 - 2022-01-31, 10:30 PM - Forum: Linux - Replies (4)

Probably more of a linux question but after changing my headless Ubuntu 20.04 server to a static ip address the old address is still offered as an alternative to the fixed address in the NextPVR app on my apple TV 4k. I can swipe it away but it immediately reappears. To ease the pain for my technophobic family how can I remedy this so that NextPVR app launches directly to menu?

  subtitles
Posted by: gilroy - 2022-01-31, 04:35 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (1)

I cannot get subtitles for live UK TV. The 'Subtitle Stream' box allows selection of English(DVB subtitles) but the (Apply&Restart) button doesn't seem to do anything but halt the display for a short while, and checking later it still shows None.  Am I missing something? I have the current version 5.2.5229111.

  Recordings terminate early
Posted by: Stanno - 2022-01-31, 02:11 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (9)

Hi all,

Running NPVR on an Intel NUC with a HDHR Quatro, win 10, NPVR windows client to view recordings.

Had to do a fresh set up of the HDHR on Saturday due to UK Freeview changes (plus I updated the HDHR firmware) and since then I have been experiencing early termination of recordings.  The client shows no errors and the correct start and end times but the files themselves are short.  The files play correctly.

For example, I have just recorded two programs that were scheduled for 13:00.  They both started OK but failed with a length of 6:58 so at around 13:03 as I have 4 minute pre-pad set.  The programs show in Ready Recordings as 12:56-13:34 and 12:56-13:49 and no errors.  The HDHR log for the period shows:
20220131-12:56:06 Tuner: tuner0 tuning 1 BBC ONE W Mid (t8dvbt:514MHz-4165)
20220131-12:56:06 Tuner: tuner0 streaming http to 192.168.1.202:49798
20220131-12:56:06 Tuner: tuner1 tuning 2 BBC TWO (t8dvbt:514MHz-4287)
20220131-12:56:07 Tuner: tuner1 streaming http to 192.168.1.202:49799
20220131-13:18:42 Tuner: tuner0 http stream ended (remote closed)
20220131-13:18:42 Tuner: tuner1 http stream ended (remote closed)

I do not have sufficient knowledge to figure out if the error is with the HDHR, the network, the PC or NPVR (or anything else) so would appreciate any help/advice that can be offered and if I have omitted any information that might be needed, my apologies.

NPVR logs attached.

Thanks,
Stanno

installation problem with V5 on Win10
Posted by: gilroy - 2022-01-30, 02:04 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (4)

Trying to install PNVR 5 on WIn10. It halts with message Cannot connect to Local Host.
Starting NVPR Client results in a box with System.ArgumentException followed by many lines of code. I cannot copy this box. It seems that the the server has not been generated? I have tried with Edge and Firefox with the same result in both case.
Version 4 , installed under Win7 continued to work with the upgrade to Win10. This was deleted before I tried to load version 5
Your Help would be appreciated.

  smart TV access to server
Posted by: Armsp0 - 2022-01-30, 01:29 AM - Forum: Linux - Replies (5)

I have nextPVR running on an Ubuntu 18 (Bionic) headless Mac Mini server using a WinTV-dualHD tuner. I successfully remotely setup all available DVB=T channels and EPG using Chrome running on a Mac running on the home network. I can watch TV and schedule recordings on the Mac. The server is also accessible from my iPhone using the NextTV app.

However although the LG smart TV I wish to watch TV from can access the NextPVR web page with its TVOS browser but none of the tuned channels are evident and the devices page cannot be selected on the setup tab. What am I missing?

  No listings in OTA EPG
Posted by: computerworm110 - 2022-01-29, 01:19 AM - Forum: Linux - Replies (4)

Hi everyone,

I'm trying different PVR apps to see which one I like best. I installed NextPVR yesterday on Linux Mint 20, and my TV tuner is a Hauppauge WinTV-dualHD. My problem is that I've updated the OTA EPG several times, and it still does not have any listings. I've tried rebooting, and increasing the seconds per frequency, first to 120, then 180, then 300. I also looked at the logs, and I didn't see anything remarkable, but then I also don't really know what to look for. I don't think my tuner is the problem, because all the other TV software I've used does the job in about 5-10 minutes for all the frequencies, and I get actual listings when it's finished. The other ones I've used are MythTV, Kaffeine, and the official Hauppauge WinTV app (the WinTV app is Windows 10 only). I know I can just pay a few dollars to get listings from Schedules Direct, but I don't want to waste money doing that, when the over-the-air listings are sufficient for my needs, if only they would work. I know I could also go back to using one of the other apps I named, but I want to give NextPVR a fair shot too, and I believe that this issue is fixable, but I'm just missing something. I will greatly appreciate any help you all can give me. Smile

Recipe for failure: 3 generations of HDHomeRuns
Posted by: turmbrown - 2022-01-28, 02:22 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (4)

I have three different generations of HDHomeRun tuners, HDHR-US, HDHR3-US, and HDHR4-2US.  The HDHR4-2US is the only one that has the channel lineup inside of it via http.  My issue was that I only want NextPVR to use the oldest one HDHR-US.  NextPVR sees all of them at startup by default so I disabled all but the dual-tuner HDHR-US that I want to be used.  Channel scans after this will run but only a couple channels could actually be tuned.  As a test I tried temporarily using the newer HDHR4 instead and all was well.  All channels could be tuned OK.

There is only one way I found for me to be able to use only the HDHR-US.  After starting NextPVR I must go into settings and delete all but the HDHR-US tuner.  Then I must also untick the box that says "Scan devices at startup".  Now after restarting NextPVR I can do the channel scan on the remaining HDHR-US and all is well.

In summary it seems to me that NextPVR isn't differentiating between these three different generations of HDHomeRun tuners if they are all present at the same time.  This is true whether two of them are disabled or not.  I do not have logs and don't want to break my working setup, however, I could easily re-create all of it in a VM if it's worth pursuing so I could produce logs if asked.

  New NextPVR Install on Chromebox
Posted by: dmgaspari - 2022-01-27, 11:23 PM - Forum: Linux - Replies (3)

Hi All, I need some guidance:

I have a Chromebox CN62 that has been used to host libreelec, Kodi, Tvheadend for a few years.  I would like to repurpose that Chromebox and use NextPVR to record NTSC on WinTV Dual HD USB tuner and save recordings on Synology DiskStation NAS.  The libreelec currently on the box is pretty messed up so I'd like to do a clean install from scratch.

1. What is minimum linux distro that should be installed to support PVR functionality, with minimal overhead? (i.e. no docker, kodi etc. if possible)
2. Are there any good guides for installing linux and NextPVR on Chromebox? (I have basic, but limited libreelec/kodi tvheadend experience)

I did spend some hours reading forum entries; please excuse if this is an ignorant request.

Thanks,
Dave

  UK Freeview changes
Posted by: mvallevand - 2022-01-27, 02:54 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (7)

I am not sure how this change impacts UK Freeview users https://www.freeview.co.uk/help/service-...ree-launch but I figure it could be a bit of work for some of you.  Perhaps NextPVR  experts could share some insight on what the impacts are and how to adjust their guide and schedules.
