I'm trying to revamp my HTPC using an AIW x800GT PCI-e card and an MSI RS480M2-il motherboard, but can't get it to boot. Before installing this graphics card, I had tested an 8600GT which is going to go in my HD HTPC, and everything worked, so the problem would seem to lie with the ATI x800 card.
Tellingly, I presume, the DVD drive won't open now when I switch the computer on- only the fans on the CPU and the Graphics card are obviously working- so I assume it's a problem with power supply to the motherboard or something. But can an x800GT really be drawing that much more than the 8600GT I had in beforehand? Or is the problem likely to be something else entirely?
All I could think of trying was swapping the power connectors to the optical drives around (I have 2 hard drives and the DVD drive installed) so that they weren't using the chain of connectors which had the 4 pin CPU power connector on it, but this made no difference. My power supply is rated at 350W- the recommended amount for the AIW card- and gives 16A on the 12V rail, if that is important. The CPU is a Venice Athlon 64 3000+, so that shouldn't require too much power itself.
The only other thing to point out is that the motherboard has a 24 pin socket but my power supply only has the 20 pin connector, but this obviously was not a problem with the 8600GT installed.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what I might try next? I'm a bit stumped. I don't have another power supply to test with unfortunately.
Now, not getting output from card to TV. Recording works, because I can watch shows on the PC, though.
Also... off topic... hitting the arrow keys to maneuver in the channel guide bounces me back to the menu. weird. remote works ok, though. the arrow keys act funny when used to navigate any menus. anyone with similar issues?
I'm having a problem where I can run UltraXMLTV manually just fine (no errors), but when GBPVR calls the program, it runs only as far as to say something like:
in the log and then it freezes. I end up killing the process with the Windows Task Manager (have let it go as long as 30 minutes with 0 cpu usage and no change in mem usage, I/O reads, or I/O writes). UltraXMLTV never creates the two temporary XML files it uses (backup original xmltv and the BeforeReformat file).
I added a tuner card the the other day (I think 2 days ago) and I also emptied the EPG for all 3 tuners on my system today. That is when I noticed the first incident of the problem (but I see from my log that I had the problem this morning as well, which was before the epg purge in GBPBR). I've gotten listings to import into GBPVR after a manual run of UltraXMLTV, but can not get it to do so automatically. Any idea what could be causing this behavior? I've included the log for what it is worth...but I canceled a run or two while testing this, so it may be hard to follow. Let me know if you want any other files.
I found two potential bugs with the new release. I was watching a show so decided to stop the recording. so I went to the bending screen where it shows recording. I selected the cancel option which this cancelled it out but when going to LiveTV it told me that i have no tuners available. Which brings me to being able to find the second bug so I went to the system menu and selected the restart option this just shutdown GBPVR and did not bring it back up. Had to restart the machine to get liveTV back. Anyway just wanted to report.
Finally updated to the new version and I'm having problems with the settings option in pvrx2. It opens for a second than closes again. I saw in the update thread that this happened to somone else, but there was no follow up by him. Any suggestions or ideas?

Here is my problem I can only get one turner working correctly at a time, where as on my old system I got all three tuners to record at the same time, without any problems. No the 2nd and 3rd turners record but with no sound and the picture is scrambled.
Hoping other ATI users can help...
I am using an ATI 3450 card with latest 8.9 drivers (having given up on my 780g IGP).
Hardware acceleration works with all H264 content.
But, with DXVA working, I get a strange effect in PVRX2. The video plays but there are constant 'flashes' of previous frames, which is very distracting! The repeated frame is from maybe 2 seconds before.
Happens with PowerDVD H264 decoder or MPC HC decoder, when watching live HD TV, or HD TV recordings.
If the same recording is viewed in Power DVD, it plays fine.
Have tried searching the web, but it's hard to know how to phrase the search...so far have not found a single person reporting a similar issue!
In the UK HD TV is 1080i, and this does seem harder for decoders to handle.
CoreAVC works fine using only software decoding, but it has problems seeking in 1080i recordings...
Okay, I looked in the sticky thread and my problem wasn't in there. Also I searched and again my problem wasn't in there.
So I decided that I would reformat my HTPC. Before I used Vista Media Center for my Analog channels and I would use GB PVR for my QAM channels.
It worked great but ever since I reformatted I can't get my GB PVR to work correctly.
I copied all of my guide data over with the reformat and it works fine.
I did a scan and it found all my local QAM channels just fine and I mapped them and that was fine to.
HOWEVER... when I go into GB PVR and hit watch Live TV it say "No Tuners are available"
Nothing is recording... I can see all my guide data but I can't watch any of my TV?
