2) I wanted to use my old MVP on a system for cartoons for my son. I know TS can't be streamed to an MVP without transcoding, but (correct me if I am wrong) any HD recording would need to be transcoded even if it was an MPG.
I saw a post about setting up transcoding. While I haven't tried it yet I set up the Config file like this:

My system is likely to be fast enough to transcode recordings, so no issues there.

Just finished a fan less, low noise, low power server currently running the evaluation copy of Windows Home Server. Pondering moving gbpvr onto this machine as its on all the time, rather than my main desk top, and accessing around the network. Any body tried an install under WHS?
It works great up to the very end. It produces a perfect xmltv.xml.tmp file but does not overwrite xmltv.xml. If I manually delete the old and rename the tmp and reload epg everything is fine. The fourth line in the log is:76: Path not found (cmdGo). The eighth is :Commited. The last line is:-------------
If I run it manually it hangs at the end.
I set up Heroes to record the season this season by setting it to "this channel, this timeslot" but the first time it airs this year there is a special airing the hour before it. When I set it this way I assumed it would only record the show at 9:00pm and not the special at 8:00pm but it set both to record. I didn't want the special so I canceled the recording so I could reset the season. It removed them both from my "pending recordings" list but when I do a search for Heroes it still has both times in red as if they are scheduled to record and I can't select them. I tried exiting out of PVRX2 and restarting the recording service but it is still showing them this way. Any ideas on how to get it to reset that so I can actually set it up to record would be great. It's still a few weeks away so no big deal.
I recently installed v1.2.13 . At first it seemed to be OK but now PVRX2 starts in fullscreen mode and I can't exit using the Hauppauge remote or the mouse or hitting the ESC key. I have to CTRL/ALT/DEL and use Windows Task Manager to end PVRX2.
I have checked windowed mode in config. I've also checked 16x9 but it still comes up in fullscreen with the wrong aspect ratio.
As a hypothetical example, say there were two channels with the name "NASA" but they were different channels with different programming content. From what I can tell from using GBPVR and reading other posts, GBPVR will only make one of the channels - the last one - available for enabling. Is this correct?
I recently purchased a Logitech Harmony 659 from Sam's Club today after scouring the forum's here for info (great place as always too!). There were also many reviews that praised the remotes so I took the dive. I have programmed my 'stuff' in but can't get the Hauppauge 45-button remote function working. Below is the way I have the Media Center PC setup for it. Is this correct?

Hi, I am new to the forum and I hope that I am posting in the right place.
I am located in western USA. I am using a C-Band system made out of a 7' dish with a motorola 4DTV 922 receiver.
I am planning on building my own PC PVR to try and record shows that the wife misses and then I hear all the complaints.
Here in US choice for recording is TIVO and subscription to a small dish.
I LOVE my C-Band dish and I would like to stay with it.
My question is: Does the GBPVR software using mapping for sats that is used on DirectTV or Dishnet? or is something proprietary?
I have just upgraded to ver 1.2.13 and seem to incurred a bug that was not there before.
My MVP now momentarily looses connection at the end of every (EPG) TV program. e.g. when the News ends and the next program starts the MVP drops back to the "connecting to server" screen and returns to the GBPVR main menu.
Does anyone have a idea why this is happening?
Currently I see it can Preview live-tv OR record live-tv and watch the recorded stream. Why can't it record the stream, but still show the live preview at the same time (until you pause or rewind, of course, then obviously it has to switch to the buffered stream)? It's been a long time since I played with ATI Multimedia Center, but I'm pretty sure it did this.
Example: you're channel surfing in Preview mode, come across an interesting show and start watching. The kids come in and fuss at you; after a moment you hit pause, but when you come back to the show you've inevitably missed a scene or two. you'd like to rewind, but too bad, GB-PVR wasn't recording until the point at which you hit pause.
Proposed solution: have GB-PVR start recording the channel you're watching in Preview mode once you've stayed on the same channel for 15 seconds or so. This way you can surf without having it constantly starting and dumping record buffers, but once you settle on a channel it starts recording behind the scenes.
(yes, of course I realize not using Preview mode would eliminate this issue, but at least on my setup channel changes are agonizingly slow in buffered live tv mode... I assume they are varying degrees of slow for everyone, else preview mode wouldn't have been added in the first place)
