I"ve been running Sophos Antivirus for the last 8 years. It doesn't bother the recording service at all unless it's performing an active scan, and I've timed those for when I have no shows recording, or anyone is even home.
However, since I've switched jobs, I've lost access to the updates for it, it was free for employees.
Anyone got a suggestion for a good FREE av that plays well with GBPVR. The last time I experimented with AV's (Sophos wouldn't update on my machine, so rather than fix it, I removed it, and tried out some freebies) I ran into a bunch of perfomance problems. (Stutter on playback) It made me hunker down and fix Sophos.
My primary problem is that GBPVR is on our daily uses machine, so I need AV. Also, the machine is pretty low end now. (P4 2Ghz, PC2700 1.2GB of Ram)
So any suggestions? (Besides upgrade the computer)

Hello!! I'm not a programmer (just getting that out of the way). But...
I noticed that over time my system began losing memory. with Pvrx2 being the culprit.
With the task manager open, I found that when I click on a Netflix movie (and it shows the more detailed description,), it jumps about 5,000k and never drops down.
Because I use Netflix Watch Now (the best!) more than my recorded shows, it's quite noticable.
Hopefully this hasn't been written about yet (everyone uses vague forum titles), and extra hopefully, it's not just me!!
I use ATI Mux on my XP-PC, but i have now recieved a laptop with a geforce graphic card, and recorded in dvr-ms. I normally use Nero Vision to edit the movie in and to make a DVD.
Now the issue: Nero can't accept dvr-ms, from gbpvr. In Vision there is no picture, and it can't play in Nero Showtime. It plays well in mediaplayer though.
Now the puzzle. I have windows mediacenter in my laptop, so I recorded a little and there is no problem at all. Nero accept the dvr-ms all the way trough.
Why is the dvr-ms in gbpvr different?? and how to change it.
I upgraded to 1.2.13 Thursday night, without any problems other than having to manually create a skin folder.
I posted an issue with Net Radio, which Sub says is because of Shoutcast changing something, but I found another issue: When I tried to use LiveTV in the menu, the screen goes black for a few seconds, then returned to the main menu. Nothing else happened.
I checked the support threads and found a post suggesting that 'Use Live Preview Mode if possible' should be checked, and deinterlacing should be 'encoder pass through'. Both these have been set all the time in the config settings.
I've read in other support posts about using C:/temp, but my root drive is H:. Hopefully the C:\temp is not hard coded.
My LiveTV buffer file is supposed to be being built in my I:\ drive, where it used to be built last version ( a separate physical disk).
After adjusting the Live TV buffer folder, and making a root temp folder, Live TV works now. I then deleted the temp folder, and it still works. I don't really know what else I affected, but I figured there might be a glitch somewhere.

When I open up the tuning assistant for digital side of my HVR-1600, it will load the digital channel mapping screen, show an error "GB-PVR was unable to start the BDA device you have configured. Check the device is configured properly, and not already in use", and then it crashes with an exception. I have tried deleting the device and creating a new one but the new device exhibits the same behavior. I have made sure the latest Hauppauge drivers are installed as well as all other drivers on my system. System specs and logs follow.
** I may have been a tad dramatic but this is what is likely to happen:
Many people are using UltraXMLTV for the feature to add a New Show indicator (eg: "Boston Legal * ) This helps GB-PVR to know to only record new shows, and not repeats.
With UltraXMLTV receiving 'non-data' from the turned off server, it thinks no news is good news and continues to process your xmltv file, but without most enhancements. GB-PVR would not know to record new shows, and may very well skip over them.
That would definitely kill the WAF, and that's why I got dramatic...:p
But it's all good now... Have fun!
PS: When the new UltraXMLTV runs the first time, it will purge your xml cache. Depending on the size it can take a few extra seconds where the program appears to hang. Please have patience
HI I am currently using an hd-pvr for my tuner in gbpvr. I want to add a second SD tuner. But I do not want the SD tuner to try and record any HD channels. Is there a way I can say select all channels for the hdpvr tuner and only SD channels for the other. Any thoughts appreciated.
I just bought a new Mainboard and completly setup everythink new. Now then I run the program I can't access the setings anymore. It shows up for a sec and then goes back to the main menu. Any Sugestions?
Heroes has an 8-9pm show on 9/22 and then a 9-11pm show. I can't set a recurring recording and have a Pending item show up for all Heroes shows that are on that channel.
