I have seen several threads in this forum stating that users are using the ATI Avivo video decoder and getting good results. I have kind of a noob question -- where do you get this decoder? I have an ATI 3450 and installed the full Catalyst V8.8, but there are no new decoders that show up in Gbpvr configuration. Is there some trick to get them to show up in Gbpvr?

When I ctrl alt delete to close gbpvr when this happens I also see a white screen with the infamous red diagonal cross.

I was wondering if it is possible two modify irrremote.cfg so that an action happens when more then one button is pressed. For example I want to initiate a back up process from the remote but i don't want that to happen every time someone accidentally rolls over the remote So i figured I'll try to find out if it's possible to add action to a combination of buttons. I tried searching but forums searches leave a lot to be desired so excuse me if this has already been asked.
First i would like to clarify that i have been using MCE 2005 for almost a year, I have tried Media portal for a few months as well, so im not a total noob as far as HTPCs go.
I had seen GBpvr for quite some time and finally yesterday decided to give it a try, specially since im tired of MCE and media portal.
After installing and setting up GBpvr i had these issues (hopefully you guys can help me understand why i had them and help me find a way to fix them, or at least explain why they happened).
1.- Constant Freezing, the app itself froze up at least half the times i used it when navigating the root menu (tv, music, videos, pictures, settings, exit). i had to ctrl-alt-del to close and fire up again.
2.- Couldnt enter the settings menu, whenever i clicked on it , it would enter then quickly exit and leave me back at the root menu (most, if not all the crashes mentioned in "1" happened while doing this). all the other menu options worked though.
3.- Pause live TV is not instant. Whenever i hit the pause button on my remote the screen would go black for like 2 or 3 seconds, then the image would reappear paused. This is very annoying coz i basically lose those 2 to 3 seconds when it blacks out. for example, if the i was watching the apollo 13 movie on tv and click the pause button on the "7" in the launch countdown, i would get a blackout for 2 to 3 seconds then get the image paused at the "5" seconds mark in the countdown. so the time between 7 and 5 was missed during that blackout. its very annoying. In MCE 2005 pause is instant.
4.- Poor analog cable channel image. on live tv everything looks fine for most of the channels that are over channel #25+ or so, but for the channels that are below 25 most of them look horrible, with a lot of static and many of them cant even show a picture at all, all i see is static.
Now, i know for a fact that my cable signal is fine and that these channels look ok when i hook the same cable on a TV, and just for testing purposes i tried to grab the channels using the "winTV" application from Hauppauge (i have the pvr-150 card) and these channels look great.
For example tuning in to analog channel #5 on GVPVR gives me only static, and on WinTV i get a clear picture. Im guessing that it might have something to do with the channel frequencies

Now i really want to get these issues out of the way, because i really like what im seeing so far, i was able to get my epg working the way i want (not so succesful at this on MCE and MP), i like the plugin support a lot also.
So basically my question is: Are these issues common?, can they be fixed?

Is there an elegant way to determine what data type(s) an XML node InnerText value can be converted to? Or is it a matter of trying the conversion and trapping any errors?
is it possible to autoload from usb with new firmware? i use to have index_sd.htm and index.htm just so i could see what display mode i was running just befor mvpmcx2 would load gbpvr. this is the sd one and ive also attached my other files.
I would like to watch some DVB-S2 channels on the sats I can receive (Astra 19.2e, Hotbird 13.0e, Astra 23.5e and Astra 28.2e) and in the past I read something about that the data for DVB-S2 transponders isn't 'complete'.
For instance, my provider sends out several DVB-S2 channels on Astra 23.5e (1D/3A) and I defined it as followed (I changed a current value):
22=11720,H,27500,910,S2
During scan it (obviously) failes to scan this transponder. According to kingofsat it has the following information:
Astra 1E (23.5E) - 11778.00 V - Txp: 68 - Beam: Astra 1E DVB-S2 (QPSK) - 27500 9/10 - NID:3 - TID:3204
So, the information I possibly need, is how to setup the information in the .INI's for DVB-S2 transponders. Because several use QPSK or 8PSK.
I would love to have an area to enter custom commands, that would show up as buttons in the menu of photo viewer. All I would want to see is something where you would enter the following:
Name/Title (what the button would have for text)
Command/File/Program (the path/filename you would want to run on the selected image)
That way, I could perhaps create a batch file/command that takes the selected image, and copies it to another folder.
PVRx2 would simply execute the 'command imageFileName.jpg' when the button was clicked.
