As you might have notice i am having a diarrhea of all the questions I have ever had about GBPVR
So here goes another one. How do I make sure I am taking advantage of hardware acceleration? I have ATI 3450 and I want to be sure I am getting the best picture I can get.

If I bought a HD3650 graphics card and used the hdmi to output video and audio for watching normal tv, can i then use my dedicated sound card to power my amp for listnening to music and watching dvds?
Essentally my tv will be connected to the HTPC via HDMI, so the wife can watch telly wihtout the hifi being switched on. But when we want to listen to music or watch dvds we would like the audi to come through the hifi.
Current PVR system:
P3 850MHz
Asus P2B-F
224MHz RAM
ATI Radeon 64M AGP video card
Hauppauge PVR-150 capture card
Currently it is using WinXP SP2, and I've been using Got All Media as the PVR software, which for the most part is running okay, but I'm getting increasingly frustrated at the lack of support on the web site...not to mention, skinning is very difficult (or should I say, almost impossible, unless you understand xml files), so I've been thinking of switching to GB-PVR. I know the min requirements indicate a 1G CPU, but has anyone used GB-PVR with similar hardware on a lesser speed CPU? I still have older versions of GB-PVR for when I played with it years ago.
I've loaded the most recent GB-PVR version on a P3 733, and it loads and is pretty responsive, but I haven't dived into video playback or anything.
I'm only picking up SD TV, and outputing to a CRT 4:3 TV using the video cards S-Vid output. I'm not doing any HD on that system (of course not), and no post-processing of the video signal (DVD or TV). I was going to use GB-PVR when I first put the system together, but opted towards GAM because of its min requirements.
I have been frustrated in getting the GBPVR running on both my laptop and my desktop PC. I have the known error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" and the main window shows nothing but a red cross.
I have consulted the "Troubleshooting FAQ" in the wiki webisite and tried adjusting all possible decoders with no luck at all. It is not the plug-in that is causing the problem as I have disabled all of them and still unable to see the main window.
I searched the forum and followed one of the thread to upgrade my video card driver, and still no luck after that.
The same blank main window issue happens to two of my computers which have rather different specs (one HP laptop with ATI video card, one desktop with Intel GMA video card).
I don't seem to have anything wrong with the MPEG-2 decoders on both of my computers as I have been using the Media Portal fine on them, and I can play almost all available video format files.
The common things between those two computers I can think of are:
1. Windows XP pro with SP3
2. .Net Framework 2.0 with service pack 1
I would really appreciate if someone can shed some light on how to get it working on my computers.
Which ATI Radceon graphic card would you suggest for PVR*2. My requiremnts are that it is sillent and able to send audio to the Tv from the graphic card. It must also be capable of HD playback.
Can you copy the icon from GBPVR.exe and insert it into PVRX2.exe? I have PVRX2 as a shortcut on my desktop and previously had Windoze "borrowing" the icon from GBPVR.exe, but now that it's no longer included I just have the default icon. I miss the cool little TV, and my wife says she has to really search for it every time now.
I'm hoping someone can give me some advice. I have a GB-PVR computer with PVR-150 (silver Hauppauge remote w/blaster). I also have a Dish Network 311 receiver. I have Next Generation remote extender (converts RF "trickle" from IR remote to full RF -- this lets me use my Dish remote thru wooden cabinet).
The issue is this -- the Dish receiver has one little IR "eye" (there are two addt'l eyes -- one on each side -- but these are the built-in blasters used to control VCR recording), and if I try to use both the PVR-150 blaster emitter -AND- the remote extender emitter, nothing works. I've fooled around with this thing for months now, and it just appears that the PVR-150 emitter WILL NOT work if the remote extender is active.
So my question...
I'm wondering if I could just use my Hauppauge remote to control channel change for everything. In other words, get rid of the remote extender completely. Run the IR receiver to a hidden spot outside of the cabinet. Affix the Haupp. blaster emitter to the Dish receiver IR "eye". The trick is how to get the remote (both receiver & blaster) to work ALWAYS -- whether GB-PVR is running or not. Or even if it's running, but the live TV is not active. The computer is always on. I'm just pondering whether I could use something like EventGhost to do this -- script a call to the little command-line utility from Hauppauge that sends IR. GB-PVR could do the channel change for unattended recordings, but let EventGhost handle all other channel changes.
There is a logo on the upper right corner which seems to be the Digiwave logo. It is a square-shape having 8 small squares (like a rubic's cube with one square missing).
How to remove this annoying logo? Tried various sw (downloaded from author's sites), such as MT, ProgDVB & DVBDreams, but the logo remains.
I have seen several threads in this forum stating that users are using the ATI Avivo video decoder and getting good results. I have kind of a noob question -- where do you get this decoder? I have an ATI 3450 and installed the full Catalyst V8.8, but there are no new decoders that show up in Gbpvr configuration. Is there some trick to get them to show up in Gbpvr?

When I ctrl alt delete to close gbpvr when this happens I also see a white screen with the infamous red diagonal cross.
