Apologies if this has already been covered, but I was wondering if it is possible to implement a web controlled backend, similar to MythTV's backend. Sometimes I leave home for days at a time, and it would be handy while on the road to be able to manage what my system is recording as I leave it running 24/7.
Having replaced a motherboard and reinstalled Windows XP, my PC has been working fine - until last night.
But now GBPVR is crashing frequently again: Faulting application pvrx2.exe, version 1.0.0.0, stamp 00000019, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180, stamp 411096b4, debug? 0, fault address 0x00011e58
This happens randomly whilst viewing TV, and most frequently when changing channels - either DVB-T or DVB-S.
As always seems the case, there were several things I did last night that could have caused this, and rather than just wiping the HDD again I would like to try and resolve it this time...
The most obvious problem is with MSI. I was tinkering with C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\media\ChannelLogos - I was adding some new logos and made the mistake (again!) of deleting some of the NZ TV logos residing there. This causes an instant problem with GBPVR; as soon as config or PVRX2 is launched, it detects that files are missing and MSI starts up. But it just goes into a loop - it goes through the install process for GBPVR, the progress bar increases from left to right, but then it seems to reverse with the progress bar decreasing from right to left. MSI says 'finished', but as soon as you try to launch config or PVRX2, it just starts up MSI again:-(
Even a system restore could not sort this out.
So I had to totally uninstall GBPVR and install from scratch. It now works, but it was after all this that I started getting the dreaded ntl.dll errors again. I have about twenty of them in the event log from last night - there have been no others since I reinstalled XP 2 weeks ago.
However this is not the only possible cause! Whilst I was tinkering with the logos, Windows update popped up and I downloaded and installed some updates;

I have uninstalled the updates, system restored to the day before any of this, but the ntl.dll problem persists. This is all very similar sequence of events to last time I had problems and returned the motherboard /reinstalled XP. IT is almost like one of the above actions causes some kind of permanent change, even after restoring / uninstalling.
There is a third possible cause, seemingly unlikely; rain. In the past a recurrent issue with Hauppauge cards is that they seem to need a very strong signal to work well - compared to STB's that can function with quite low signal strength & quality. It was raining hard here last night, and I know in particular satellite can be badly affected - especially using the 45cm mini-dishes common in the UK. But I don't know if poor signal could cause these ntl.dll errors....
i think a tagging feature in the default photos plugin would help a lot. Just like stepping up to an id3 tag based music library "musiclibrary2" the viewing system should be based off of the content, not folder structure.
I know back at release 1.0xxx that the GUI native resolution was increased from 720x480 or something like that, but what is it now? Is it fully scalable?
I seem to get a clearer menu image, and text at 1368x7?? than 1920x1080, which could be a lot of things so I thought I should start at the start of the process.
Well, I've reinstalled GB-PVR on a friendly "C" drive directory, and did the install and imports and most things are happy, all but my beloved ZPROCESS. (Using GBPVR10213.msi, and latest ZProcess dated 04/04/08, piping down to two MediaMVPs).
From the logs, I'm seeing a message:

Funny thing is, if I add a GB-PVR MediaMVP Transcode pre-play delay, I get pretty much that much longer transcoded output video (which doesn't play to the MediaMVP - it's just in the dump directory).
So it seems there's something out there watching for a dead ZProcess and killing it, but... it isn't dead! What's intentionally killing ZProcess? :confused:
I've even manually run the generated "RunTranscode.cmd" file, and it works to completion, so it can't be ffmpeg borking.
Based on the suspicion that _no_ transcoded video gets seen on the MediaMVP, I've tried both versions of the Trans2MVP.exe (original, and ZTools version), but to no effect.
Whut to try now? Suggestions? I really prefer ZProcess to the standard GBPVR transcoder...

I have been trying to diagnose this problem for a while now but I'm not sure if it is a signal problem (as I fitted my own 90cm dish) or a mux problem or even something else. As I am playing back using the MVP that should eliminate playback problems like decoders etc. shouldn't it?
So far I have tried the cyberlink 5.0.0.1307 & ATI mux's, the ATI seems to work quite a bit better in that I can actually watch Stratos & Cue where as with the Cyberlink they just stutter & jump all the time. I noticed this message from sub this morning in another thread & wondered if the next thing to try is the TS mux, would this tell me if it's a signal problem?
The MVP server is an athlon 64 3.2ghz, 1gb RAM, SATA Raid1 320gb HDDS with a Twinhan 1027 DVB-S card so I can't see it being a problem hardware wise.
My Application keeps going back to the main menu and crashing this seems completely random and also the 'settings' screen is also completely empty.
can anyone help or even suggest if these two things are related?
Has anyone else experienced this? Every once in a while, I get a recording that halfway through, the time goes back to zero (if I bring up the progress indicator on the PCH & it shows the time starting over).
This isn't an issue if I just let it play the rest of the way, but if I try to skip or FF after that point, it jumps back to the first half of the show.
I can post logs if they would be helpful, however, if this is a problem w/ my HD-PVR, then I don't want to waste anyone's time here.
My tv option, when I click on it, doesn't start, just stays the same.

When I configured it, I selected Digital Recording Plugin; inside: When I tick "Only show devices detected...." it founds "Avermedia Volar DVB-T". I tried it with no luck, and I also tried adding my own one like this (using your manual):
