Hi I'm new to this. Just bought a Pinnacle PCTV DVB-T PCI card but have given up on the software, I've just downloaded gbpvr at the Download link but I can't figure out what to do from there. It would be a good idea to have a 'Getting Started guide on here.
I'm using WinXP Pro SP3.
I installed the program but all I see in my Start>Programs list is:
GB-PVR > Config, Mux Checker, PVRX2, Re-Register Filters, Restart Recording Service, Stop Recording Service, TuningAssistant.exe.
I opened Config but haven't a clue what it's all about. The window under 'Channels' tab is empty.
I opened Mux Checker but that says "NO MULTIPLEXER FILTERS WHERE FOUND ON YOUR MACHINE. GB-PVR will not function correctly unless you have WinXP SP1 or higher, which has a built-in DVR-MS mux filter." What's that about?
I opened PRX2, Clicked on it and it froze.
I clicked on TuningAssistant.exe. Set the card type to 'Pinnacle PCTV Deluxe (PAL), 'Country' to UK., and selected 'Antenna'. I cicked 'OK' and an alert popped up saying "Failed to find Crossbar filter. Wrong device type?"
So, with no guide that I can find, I'm completely at a loss. Can anyone help, please?
Just downloaded and installed and it seems to be working good. One thing i noticed and this may be the way it is for using a remote control but clicking on the list to scroll automatically selects instead of a double click.
The search function worked good. I was able to search a torrent and start downloading it. However one little irk here is that right click does not back up to the menu. It goes back up to the search box and then back spaces the characters and when they are gone then it will go back to the menu.
Additional search sites such as iso hunt would be a great improvement. Not sure if you have to write the gui specifically for each site but adding preferred search sites in the config or having them selectable from the Gui would be nice. Possibly basing it off of torrentscan.com would work as it is designed to search different torrent sites.
I am trying to get listings to download for the series "Coach". Well in the process it downloaded the cover art and details for the movie "Coach Carter". No matter what I do I cannot get it to remove coach carter. I have uninstalled twice, removed MovieWiz details from config.xml, but to no avail. I install again and am automatically staring at the cover art and movie details for cc. It's been since 2006 since I've used GBPVR so excuse my ignorance....thanks.
Running GbPVR 1.2.13 on Windows XP Pro SP3 UK, AMD X2 4050e, Gigabyte GA-MA-780GM-S2H mainboard, PowerDVD 7.3 MPEG2 codecs, MdAPI 2.1.1, Acamd 5.0.9b
If I don't enable MDec support using the config.exe, exiting LiveTV after watching a Free to Cable channel using the "ESC" key brings me back to the main GbPVR window. If I enable MDec support, exiting LiveTV after watching a Free to Cable channel or a scrambled channel using the "ESC" key briefly flashes the main GbPVR window and then terminates the application. The log doesn't give any clues, nor does the event viewer.
Any idea what in MdApi 2.1.1 could trigger this (WM_QUIT message) or why this happens? I'm happy to post the logs here if requested.

From what I've read, the cpuaffinity setting in the config.xml doesn't do anything for the PVRX2.exe. I can confirm that using Task Manager, both cores are used. Using this setting in LiveTV (Free to Cable channel), audio starts to stutter before it completely dies, video follows shortly after that. I also get random application terminations without any clue in the log files. Initially I thought it was this quartz.dll of DirectX9c thingy, however it turned out to be the cpu affinity.
If I set affinity to 1 core, stuttering disappears and LiveTV runs stable for over 2 hours.
Does anyone have a clue why I get such contradicionary behavior as most users have to enable usage of both cores.
Lately I've noticed that a lot of channels are duplicated in my EPG, with "No information" in the grid.
Investigating I find that in the Config program under "Edit Recording Source", I get the expected group of channels, 2 - 99 then another group but with channel numbers in the range of 100 - 400 in the "Source Channel" column. Sometimes the chanel numbers and names are correct in this second group, sometimes a complete mismatch.
I'm wondering where this group of channels comes from, and if it's needed for anything. Maybe it's part of the Digital conversion process? (This is an analog tuner connected to cable).
I tried to find a post about this issue, but nothing seems exactly the same, and I may not be describing it in the best way. When I select the "Settings" option from the main menu in PRRX2 the "Settings" screen flashes on screen, but then immediately returns to the main menu.
This is the only option that does that. So far everything else seems to work. I am using the most recent version on Windows XP SP3.
Can you advise as to whether the audio output will allow me to use my Tv and Media Centre audio without having to mute one or the other when switching between them
First of all, I would like to thank sub for fixing the teletext subtitles in the latest release (v1.2.13). They are now showing up properly as they used to way back with the old UI.
My problem with the teletext subtitles is that they are incredibly CPU intensive. Normally when watching Live TV (720x576 MPEG-2 DVB-T), the CPU usage stays at around 40-50%. When the teletext subtitles are displayed, the CPU usage increases to around 85-100% and several frames are dropped.
Is there something wrong in my configuration or are the teletext subtitles really that heavy on the CPU? I know my setup isn't one of the fastest ones but it should at least be able to handle this. After all, I can watch most if not all 720p x264 material I've tried (even with subtitles).
