well i have about givin up on the calbe company ever stopping changeing the qam tunnings setup. but i was wondering if it was possiable to add a audio filter to the qam tunning scanning so that it only shows channel with a auctul audio track where the levels change. not sure that can be done simply since the hd channels are ac3 audio but i really dont much about the api for things like ac3filter and such. just a idea.

I discovered that gbpvr.db3 channel table has 4 columns: name, number, favourite and display name. 3 of them are visible in config-channels tab. My request is that the 4-th one "display name" would be visible in there also.
I also noticed that some components use "display name" - they are gbpvr configuration file, TV guide and list of recordings. Others use "name". They are: EWA, TV Guide details page and Recordings detail page. Also when you do manual recording, the "name" is used in recorded file name.
Would be great if everybody used "display name" across the board.

Background for my request:
The local ATSC stations have names difficult to remember like WXYZDT, WJKBDT, WDIVDT etc. EPGuides use these to identify the station, so I have to use them for configuration. But after it's done I would prefer to use more friendly names eg. instead of WXYZDT call it ABC-HD.

I found out that the gbpvr.db3 has mentioned above "display name" column and using Sqlite Database Browser I was able to rename them to what I like without upsetting TV Guide. So I am half there. The rest requires few changes in the code, hopefully not to difficult.

I think i could be down to the crapy internal aereal im trying to use in a room facing away from the transmitter.

Is there any way/software that can show me what signals are being received?

can't think of anything thats changed on client or server since it last worked.

When selecting delete in the video library, the confirmation window can obscure the selected file. It would be nice is the file name appeared in this window so you can check if you you are deleting the right one.

title says it all. kind of like subtitles on and off with dvds.

Hoping you guys can give me a few suggestions for improving playback. Playing back analog recorded channels is fine, but ATSC digital channels play back choppy. The bitrate that I get when playing back files is 6-7 Mbps, and the frame rate is 12-16. If I open graphedit and put the mpeg2 splitter in place of the mpeg2-demultiplexer I can get bitrates of 12-15 Mbps and frame rates of 27-29, and probably 95% or so of the choppiness is gone. I've played around with all the different combinations of deinterlace and overlay/vmr9, and nothing makes it better, only worse. I can stream the same show to my popcorn hour and it plays back perfectly, so I'm fairly sure it's not the disk or IO problems. The CPU is usually not at more than 40%, and the machine has 1 gig of memory and nothing else running. It's a 3.2 GHZ with an NVidia GEForce 7600GS, running latest video drivers and Nvidia's decoder so I get the hardware acceleration.

My questions are:
Why is there such a huge differene in the splitter versus the demux?
How do I set the splitter as the default versus the demux?
Should I set the splitter as default? Am I giving up anything?
Is there a better demux?

Anything else you guys can think of? I'm kind of stuck on this, I've been working on this for a few weeks now. I want to eliminate all the stutter, this is the first thing I can think of that has helped.

I recently install GBPVR (current version)on VISTA home Premium OS. After recording several TV shows some Analogue and some HD, I am unable to play the HD recordings from within the GBPVR blue skin. The analogue play fine. When I go to recording and click on a particular HD recording and then click on Play it immediately returns to the menu. The software is configured to use the Nvidia video decoder for playback. I can play these recordings in VLC which was installed with the HDHomerun. I have the recording directory set as C:\recordings. I did notice that the HD files in this directory all have the Microsoft Media Center icon for what its worth. I have attached a zip of the log files any help would appreciated.

i managed to get gbpvr running using usb stick, i can navigate the menu with ease and i even manage to view photo's over the network

but............

i can't seems to play back any movies.. .mkv, .avi etc
the screen turn black... after 2 sec, i return to the gbpvr menu screen again.

and i missing some settings in config.exe ?

I am planning a new HTPC focused website for users of all HTPC software and hardware. A community to share knowledge, frustrations and successes. It will be a community site where everyone is welcome to contribute and will be not-for-profit. There will be advertising, but just as a method of covering operational costs.

As a place where everyone is welcome what would be a good name? I have a few ideas already that I'll post and see what you think. Hopefully someone doesn't register them just to try to make a buck but if they do then I'll just pick another name.
