I've been using GBPVR for the past few years with great results. I use Hauppaugh's WinTV-PVR-USB device hooked up to my laptop which in turn is connected to my analog TV via a s-video connector. Now that mandatory ATSC conversion in the USA will soon be here, I need to upgrade my setup.
I would like to find a ATSC tuner device that works with GBPVR, is USB based and has a remote control. Any ideas? Anything I should look out for?
1. where's it drawing the search info from - is it the webui default search?
2. If I open the info for a torrent I can't seem to scroll the page - only the download and close buttons are selectable. Is this work in progress or am i missing something?.
I have a WinTV 1800 MCE card, a GeForce 8600 GTS and Windows MCE 2005, running the latest version of GBPVR and DirectX. When I've tried VMR9 I've gotten a message saying my system doesn't support it. With the overlay renderer, I get no response when selecting "Live TV". With EVR I get sound but no picture. This is the second WinTV 1800 card with which I've had the problem (I've had no other cards). I returned the first one and thought the card might be defective, but it works with the WinTV software. Please help.

Basicly all of my recordings are super choppy like maybe 5 frames a second. Are there any known concerns with the nvidia? I have the latest drivers. (got from website because I don't have a disc) But so far my ATI Radeon was Waaaayyyy better. I tried changing the MPEG 2 playback codec (I have about 7 available. It played perfect with the Cyberlink DVD codec but the crashed when I tried to exit from the show back to GBPVR's recordings menu.
Also It will only run VMR9 Custom. If i try full screen exclusive it's so slow and choppy it's unusable, and EVR says the system does not support the codec required. my ATI card would run all three with no noticeable difference.
If anyone has any idea whats going on here it would be of great help. if you concur the nvidia card is poor could you recommend a good pcie 16x card?
So my friend has just had his new house fitted with loads of gear that sends his DVD, TV, PC, radio, games console, CD and ipod to any room in the house all controlled by some master remote thing - It cost him tens of thousands of pounds, looks like a nightmare in a spaghetti factory (well in the 'server' cupboard and behind each TV anyway) and utilises 14 boxes of individual rack mount kit sucking away on kilowatts of electricity. I asked him why he hadn't just had an HTPC put in each room (OK so GBPVR isn't for commercial use, but we'll leave that for a mo) and run a bit of cat5 around the house.
His answer was that he (and I guess his professional installer) wasn't even aware of the concept.
So that leads me to my poll. Are we (HTPC / PC-PVR users) really that cutting edge????
thought i'd write a quick success post rather than stating something doesn't work...
added a 1TB samsung disk for my videos/music etc.
(if you're uk - aria selling cheap here)
so needed to relocate stuff including recordings.
exported them, moved them with robocopy (still don't trust vistas explorer copy)
edited the recordings-dump.xml with new drive letter
imported
all sweet
very nice when something just works!
When I scan for channels on my compro T300 (DVB-T), it goes through the channels and briefly shows a figure for quality, but zero for signal. at the end it says "No channels found. Please check your signal and configuration settings." It works fine in MediaPortal. Any Ideas? Thanks for your time!
