Would it be possible to add the capability for PVRX2 to accept a command line argument of a filename for it to play - if it's not already running I would like it to just go straight to playing that file. If it's already running and doing something else such as watching live TV or another recorded file, I would like it to stop doing that and then go to playing back the new file.
Alternatively, or even better perhaps, in addition to this, could you make some improvements to the way that it handles files in the Video Library section:
When deleting a file and the prompt comes up asking if you're sure, please include the name of the file to be deleted in the prompt window - usually the highlighted file is no longer visible when that prompt comes up.
Add a keyboard shortcut - e.g. either the Del key or the letter D which deletes the file (with the normal prompt) rather than having to press several buttons to go to the left, scroll down and then hit enter on the delete option.
After deleting a file, rather than having the highlighted entry go back to the top, just select the next file in the list.
When using the menu on the left to delete a file, have it automatically go back to the list of files as the active control - either that or fix it so that the highlight doesn't appear on the list of files as it does at the moment - that has caught me several times with the highlighted option going down on the menu instead of the file list.
Within the Video Library section, perhaps add a column to the right indicating the duration of each file, maybe also the actual file size as well.
Within the Video Library file list, it would be nice if you could optionally scroll past the top and bottom - i.e. when the first item is selected in the list and you press the up arrow, the selection goes to the bottom of the list. Conversely, when the last item is selected and you hit the down arrow, the selection goes back to the top.
Separately from the above, whilst watching a recorded file, it would be nice if you could press F2 and have it take you straight to live TV instead of having to go back through the menu.
I recently wasted a full day constantly reinstalling Windows XP trying to work out what it was that I was doing wrong with my nLite setup that was causing GBPVR to not work properly. In the end, it turned out to be a problem with GBPVR itself, so hopefully this post will help others with the same problem and also allow sub to fix the problem in a future version.
The problem that I was having was that with a fresh install of Windows and GBPVR, I could scan for digital channels and view live TV, but I couldn't get it to download the over the air EPG data, or watch timeshifted TV. When I tried to update the EPG information, it would just go straight to saving information, without actually tuning into any channels. When I tried to watch timeshifted TV, it would give an error saying that no tuner was available.
The cause of the problem turned out to be that with a fresh install of GBPVR (1.2.13) the configuration was defaulting to C:\Temp\ for both the recordings directory and also the LiveTV Buffer Directory. Since that directory doesn't exist on a fresh install of Windows, anything that involved those directories was failing - unfortunately not in a way that would actually give even a small hint as to the reason why they were failing!
So, for anyone else experiencing either of these problems, make sure that those 2 directories actually exist (and are also of course writeable by GBPVR and the config program.)
For sub, may I suggest that you add in some code to check for the existence (and writeability) of those directories - perhaps just auto create them if they don't exist or at least give a meaningful error when they're not there?
Hi, I've search the forum for the answer... i found the same question, date from 2006, with no answers following it, and now i have this problem:
All is good, except at bottom of screen, there is this green flashing stripe always there while watching tv. I have a good ol' CRT tv, set to 4x3 format.
I press F7 repeatedly, and there is 1 setting that is almost good, but then it cuts off the top of the screen by I would say 1/4 of the image, so that is not a good option for me. The Auto, or Fill options are the ones that seem like they would do best (they fit the entire image on the tv), but they result with this green flashing bar.
Also, this green flashing bar is actually below the tv image, in a black stripe. This black stripe is only at bottom of screen, not at the top (unlike when watching a wide screen movie on a 4x3 tv).
I tried VRM9, VRM7, and all other settings related to VRM9 with no good results.
Please help! I don't want to take the GBPVR system down, it is so awesome...
Anyone else get this? When you pause live TV, and leave it paused for 10min or more or so, and when you unpause it, it can take almost a minute or even more to start playing again (depending on the length of the pause spool).
I'm wondering if there is a setting (GB or system) that causes or can fix fix.
It's been a while since I did any thing with my PVR, I decided to update date from 1.0.08 to 1.0.213 / Latest. Backed up my whole directory and updated to XP system to SP3 and did the install, my analog tuners show up and work fine, but my HDHR tunners are MIA, I unistalled and Installed the Latest HDHR Software and firm ware, VLC works fine with it, but not GB-PVR, I went to manually add the tunners back into GB0PVR and they're not in the list at all, I checked the BDA.ini and they're the 1st one's on the list, so I'm at a loss as to why they're not showing up in GB-PVR. Help please. Thanks
Is it possible to change the order and channel numbers in GB-PVR? For example, if my local CBS station was channel 19, could I change it to channel 4, etc.?
I reckon it would be a good idea to implement some kind of feature similar to other video/media applications like VLC media player. What it does is show what your listening to or watching on TV in GB-PVR, it could be the name of the channel, or the data from the EPG programme guide or something like that.
Is there any way of doing that? I think it's a great idea?
I'm getting a lot of stuttering while watching live tv. Typically the broadcast will stutter a bit, then stop for a few seconds before coming back in. Sometimes I get bounced back to the TV Listings screen. I also fairly often get some stuttering a couple of seconds after tuning in to a channel.
Any ideas how to sort this out? I upped my LiveTV pre-play delay to 900ms, but it didn't seem to help.
I'm using a Nova T-500 card and running version 1.2.9.
