I have 2 strange things that occur on my PCH when using gbpvr.
The first thing is in skins. When I browse the skins and click up and down the list, the preview does not show up. Also, when I make a skin change, it is not reflected until the next time I use gbpvr.
The second this is with TV Guide. Sometimes when I click on TV Guide, I get 8 boxes. They run down the screen and each box is numbered 1-8. When I see this, I go back to the main menu and scroll through the options. I'll go back to TV Guide and everything is fine.
Is everyone experiencing this behavior or do I have something strange going on?
I went on vacation and my TV Guide was fine. I get back and my guide shows only "no show details". Since an update was release while I was gone I updated first - hoping that that would fix it. It didn't.
I use Schedules Direct with one analog (cable) and two OTA digital tuners.
I recently installed WinTV-HVR 1600. I also installed the included software plus GBPVR. I am disappointed in the picuture quality. I have a Magnavox TV 2 feet from my computer monitor being fed from the same cable outlet. the picture on my monitor is less detailed and washed out compared to the Magnavox. I play DVD movies on my computer all the time and the quarity is exellent. I don't expect this quality, but shouldn't I at least have as good a picture as on the Magnavox when I watch live TV on the computer?
Any possibility of having scrollable text like Alibert's TV Listings Plugin? I use Radio Times/XML for EPG and often the description runs off the end of the pop up window.
I'm trying to set up GBPVR with a Hauppauge HVR-1600 to receive and record QAM digital channels. When I scan the channels, I don't find/get all the QAM channels that my new HDTV can find. The HDTV has a signal strength meter and the channels not found by GBPVR are the weaker channels. The TV says the signal strength is near 10 for some channels (scale of 10) and near 3 for others when I bring the cable straight to the TV.
Unfortunately, I need to split the cable for other devices, and when I do that the signal remains near 8-10 for the strong channels, but drops to around 1 for the weak ones. (I haven't tried bringing cable straight to the HVR-1600 yet). I notice that during rain, the weak channels tend to drop out.
OK, the obvious answer was to buy an amplifier. I tried 6 different amplifier models! They ranged in price from $25 to $130 and in style from single output to 8 outputs. Every single one produced a DECREASE in signal strength measured by the HDTV as compared to the unsplit cable. I'm comparing bringing the unsplit cable directly to the TV from where it enters the house vs bringing it directly to an amplifier under test, then straight to the HDTV. The weak channels would measure 3 without the amplifier and 1 with the amplifier in-line!
I know this isn't directly a GBPVR question, but can anyone make any suggestions for me? Surely there is some way to get a strong signal from the point where the cable enters the house to other points in the house.
Unfortunately, two of the channels I really want to record are weak ones, so I think I need to get this problem sorted before going farther. BTW, the WinTV scan has the same problem with these weak channels - it doesn't find them. They look fine on the TV, particularly with the direct cable feed, but occasionally drop out or stutter when split/amplified.
The amps seem to help the analog cable. The amps varied between 900 mHz and 1000mHz top end. I'm pretty sure that my cable system is below that.
Here goes, sorry if this turns out to be long winded, and i'll try and explain as clear as possible.
I have always had this problem, when i accidentally set a recording in the guide and forget to set the record all episodes option,
1)when i go in to the recoding update option, i cant update it to record the whole season, it will not allow me to change the option from record once to record all episodes, (on an aside note, non of the recordings reflect the record all episodes if i go into update screen via guide, I only find this info in pending recordings menu)
2)If i cancel the recording, and then try to reschedule the recording for a season, it does not change from green to red in the Guide, and i am unsure that it has set a recording, my inclination is that it has not.
3) last night i went into pending recordings, and from what i gathered all the season recordings are listed first, then all the individual ones are listed under it, and i see that it has duplicated the one recording i tried to set up in option 2 above (this is because i tried several times to get it to change from green to red, by selecting record all episodes, but it never changed)
So my question is, is there a way to update via option 1 above,
and how do i correct option 2, get the recording to update (does anyone else have this problem, does it relate to a limitation or is it just an issue i have)
and will my recordings still record even if there are duplicates as stated in option 3 and the actual tv guide does not change?
I use a postprocessing command to create Moviewiz entries of recorded shows in my Recordings Dir. I then sometimes archive these shows and the MW has duplicate entries of the show, one with the old path and one with the new one.
They show up in the recordings area with a red failed on them. This seems to be only for files that i have set up to record on a recurring basis and not ones that i just pick from the guide to record once. I dont know if this is a problem with coming out of standby or not. It was working a few days ago coming out of standby so i know my computer is capable of it. I attached two files here because i have multiple copies of the logs. I put all of them in the all.zip and just the normal four in the 4logs.zip. Also a couple of times the screen has been black and the PC is unresponsive. I have to hard reset it to fix this. Not sure if this is related. Specifically the MLS Soccer game and Jay Leno from my log file failed to record.
Also, i seem to be having trouble getting the volume key on my remote to work the way the left and right arrow work on my remote. The volume keys controls it with a percentage display while the left and right key use a little bar at the top of the screen. It doesn't seem to matter what selection I make in the config for what the volume key controls.
Finally often when i skip back on a show i am watching i have to press play to get it to play again. If i skip back twice in a row it usually plays just fine. This isn't a big deal but if its an easy fix that would be cool.
