Hi guys,

So I tried to assemble a PVR for my family room (I have one in my bedroom, but wanted one for the family room as well). So I went out and got a PVR-1600 capture card and put it in my spare Dell GX270. It turned out the motherboard on the Dell was fried, so I picked up a cheap, used, small form factor IBM Thinkcentre (2.8ghz P4, 768MB of ram, and a 200gh Hard Disk. It has a built on video card, but I added a spare I had with S-Video out (Radeon 9250 chipset with 128mb of ram). I get everything installed and the picture on my tv (standard definition... nothing fancy) looks AWFUL. The contrast is way off, the picture is bowed at the sides, and the colors are wrong (blues show as either reds or black... go figure). I tried tinkering with the settings in the ATI Catalyst Control Panel, but it didn't help. So I tried a series of cables (both S-Video and RCA with an S-Video adapter). So far nothing has worked. I decided to try it on a different television to make sure it wasn't my tv, even though my VCR and DVD Player both work fine. On the second tv, the one I have my other PVR hooked up to, it only shows black and white!

At this point I think the video card I'm using is messed up, huh? It's the same chipset as the one that's in my other PVR, but the manufacturer is different. I went online looking for a new video card, but I see a lot of cards now have power requirements (250->300 watt mostly). The computer I'm using (IBM Thinkcentre 8183) only has a 200 watt power supply because it's a small form factor PC. Do I really need to worry about this? Can someone suggest a video card that would work for me?

Just set up gbpvr as a client. I see the TV Guide, my recordings on the server. WHen I try to watch a recording the screen goes black for a second then back to the recording page. LiveTV is just a black screen and I cannot leave without ALT-Tab to another application. Suggestons?

I am trying to setup a client

Right now, in file sharing mode, I can see recordings , and watch them.
I can't watch live TV , I only get a blank screen.
Also the TV Guide does show listings and shows set to be recorded. I have all folders shared and gave full rights to all users.

When in streaming mode, I can once again see the TV guide but nothing more, recorded tv shows just show up as a blank screen.

I am using a WinTV-PVR-USB2 tuner.

Any ideas or help would be great

Hi - I have GB-PVR 1.2.13 running under Vista 64 & keep getting crashes anything from a minute to an hour after starting to watch TV. Vista reports these are caused by DEP (Data Execution Prevention) kicking in. Unfortunately, Vista has decided I cannot mark GB-PVR as exempt from DEP checking

What else can I try to solve this?

I have noticed there is an auto recording problem on my pvrx2 when I exit from live TV mode. Whenever I go into live TV and there is at least one recording file created in my recording folder without any pause button being hit during live tv mode or recording function being call. Is there a setting in configuration file I accidently set it? thanks.

I have an HVR-1300 to capture and control my Sky UK STB, an HVR-4000 to capture Freesat especially BBC HD, and a Nova-T-TD dual Freeview tuner for regular TV. With this setup I can do all 4 at once. However, although they will all tune, I cannot get them all installed and leave the HVR-1300 blaster working. The Nova-T and/or HVR-4000 IR hardware takes precedence it seems. I've tried all sorts of orders of installation and different PCI slot arrangements to no avail. Any advice on how to do this (without getting a USB-UIRT - separate thread)?

I can't get multiple Hauppauge tuners to work together and get the HVR-1300 blaster to work. USB-UIRT would appear to be my solution. Does this work in the UK with standard Sky digiboxes? Do I need some sort of extension for the blaster LED? Are they supplied complete? TIA.

Did a search and couldn't see anything about this. Has anyone tried using ffdshow post processing for dvds (scaling up, sharpening etc) combined with sub's built in DVD player?

I'm finding that with post processing on, the DVD menus don't seem to work properly, by which I mean the menu item selected isn't highlighted. Key presses or buttons on the remote still work enabling you to select options etc just it doesn't show on the screen, making it somewhat tricky!

Would be great to get this working as then I could enjoy all my DVDs in full scaled up glory!

Anyone got any ideas?

I've been out of the Gbpvr/Tivo scene for a long time now, due to a my divorce and moving around....... but now I'd like to get back into it, I'm just wondering what is being used for the tv guide now, last I heard, the free ones are gone, or is it all in the newest gbpvr software release ?

I'm about at my wit's end! I'm trying to IR blast a Motorola VIP1200 receiver with an MCE Blaster and am not having much luck.
Here's what I've tried:
1. Hip - Actually found a ccf file, but hip doesn't recognize the numbers. Menu, Guide, etc (in the ccf) all work well, but without numbers, I can't change to a specific channel.
2. Learning in Hip is fruitless - It just won't recognize the codes when I 'test' them. I even tried what one internet post suggested of pointing the remote to the floor, raise it, then point it back to the floor. Stupid, I know, however, IR Server Suite sorta works using this method....
3. IR Server Suite - Recorded the codes and found the most reliable method was doing the stupid floor, up, floor thing. Blasting is completely unreliable, but it sometimes picks up the codes. Sometimes it picks up another number altogether. Ie. Sending '2', and the uverse box shows a '5'.?
4. Finally got tired of 'guessing' where the IR receiver is on the box - I've seen pics on the 'net where people claim it's on the left and some say on the right, and some say in the middle. I popped off the dark plastic front piece and can definitively say that I'm positioned over the IR receiver Of course, I've re-tried to blast in HIP and IR Server Suite to no avail.

Has anyone gotten blasting to work on the vip1200 or vip1216(the dvr - same IR codes)?!?! Help!
