Hello,

I have used Windows Remote desktop to access the PVR for maintenance etc, instead of hooking up a keyboard and mouse. After I upgraded from 1.1.05 to 1.2.13, it appears that remote desktop hangs once I start PVRX2 application.

There seems to be an incompatibility when using together. Is this a known limitation or is there a setting that can be done to have it work?

Thanks.

Remote desktop don't really like pvrx2 Were you on gbpvr before?

I use ultravnc (with video hook driver turned off) to be able to see the pvrx2 interface and the playing video.

I seem to remember that pvrx2+ now uses exclusive screen control .. GBPVR was (just) OK with RDP but pretty slow.. The exclusive screen control has killed this possibility.. havent experimented with alternatives yet..

There is overlay as well, available to pvrx2, but it doesn't render on rdp.

Does it do sound? I used to have a RDP session to play music in my office. Unfortunately that is no longer possible, which makes me use GBPVR less than usual.

I use Windows remote desktop for maintenance all the time WHILE wife is watching PVR without issue. I have a second windows account just for me to do maintenance (or whatever else I want on the GBPVR server). The trick is to enable CONCURRENT USERS for Windows, this way the other local user is not disturbed in any way while you logon remotely and you don't need to actually use the PVRX2 GUI at all.

You can probably google 'WindowsXP concurrent users' for the howto enable (hack) instructions.

I do that as well. Look for termserv patch. There's a nice install for it. I do this when I want to do something on the box on a secondary session without affecting playback.

But sometimes you also need to jump on the primary pvrx2 session (or I just sometimes jump on cos I'm on the laptop and can't be bothered turning on the tv and want to change the music.

I run pvrx2 in overlay mode (which seems very different to the gbpvr overlay mode) and for this I have to turn the video hook driver off or I can't see what is on the pvrx2 screen (it's just black). On ultravnc this was in the admin properties (or the properties) from the system tray. Theres options to have it installed but not running. But YMMV.
