Hi! I'm very excited to be here, after spending a couple years capping via Firewire with CapDVHS. Hope I can get this all working, so I don't have to keep manually changing channels on my cable box to record with that software. :-)

I recently got an HDHomeRun to receive clear-QAM from my Comcast digital cable account. Until now I have been using Firewire and the cable box and thereby I am able to cap all the US network channels, plus MOJO and UHD and A&E and Discovery HD Theater. Other channels are visible when I view through the cable box, but are encrypted on the Firewire port of the cable box.

I don't know for certain if Firewire-cappable channels are clear-QAM, but I believe that they would have to be. . . ? Or is clear-QAM orthogonal to whether the Firewire output is encrypted?

I have xmltv set up apparently correctly for my area, and have the network channels and MOJO et al (and only those) enabled. When I map the EPG channels to my cable internal channels using the GB-PVR config application, though, I can only find the network channels, not the channels like MOJO.

I can use the EPG in GB-PVR and can cap the network channels. If I can get MOJO et al working, then I can retire CapDVHS, which I would sure love to do.

So. . . any clues about why I can't map MOJO et al?

I currently have a WinTV-PVR500MCE (Dual Tuner). I have two Satellite boxes connected to it, and each has an IR Blaster. Everything on the system works fine, I can record two shows, watch two shows etc etc.

But, something happens when i'm watching livetv and recording that I'm not sure should be happening.

Scenario:

1. Watching Channel1 (LiveTV)
2. Have two recordings scheduled for the same time (Show1 on Channel1, and Show2 on Channel2)
3. Even though I'm already watching Channel1 it kicks me out to the guide when the recordings start. Then I can go back in and say "Play" and i can watch the live recording

Shouldn't the system realise i'm already on Channel1 and to just switch me over to the recording? by the same logic, after the show, if I was already watching Channel1, why not put me back to a live feed of Channel1?

Is it standard for the screensaver to come on while viewing a slideshow on picture library? Is there a way to prevent it if it is standard?


Different question:
I had a crash while listening to music library. The screensaver came on part way into the first song. After 4 songs, I decided to stop the music and go to the main menu, and it wouldn't stop or come out of screensaver. It then crashed with the big X. Logs:

I'm running fine on my 'host' pc that is set up in our living room that we use to record and watch shows for over the air ATSC broadcasts only and love it immensly. I am in the process experimenting with a client PC that is set up in our study for the fun of it and have run in to some performance problems. The specs on the client PC are as follows pentium 4 3ghz processor, 1 gb ram, nvidia 7600gs 256mb ram video, Nvidia purvideo decoder, cyberlink mux 5.0.137. The network is a 100mb wired. I know my client PC has the stuff to play the videos with no problems as it was used before when I just first started experimenting with GBPVR. I've set it up as both streming and file shareing with the file sharing having slightly better performance but the recordings will stutter about every 5 secs and live TV is unwatchable. The host pc is speced out in my signature. I've tried both when the host is idle and while watching tv/recordings. Just wondering if there are any tips on this type of setup. I wanted to see if this would work before committing to purchasing a dedicated client such as the popcorn hour. Has anybody else in the US been able to get this type of setup working? Does the host pc need to be beefier to suppor clients?

i am sort of lost here, i am sure it's a woods-for-the-trees-thing, but how do you tune in on analog channels? :confused:
i use a hauppauge hvr-1300 and i am about to set it up, and so far all seems working, except the tuning part (i can watch ant wars 23, but after a while it gets boring)

Im still a new comer to the whole pvr side of things... and h264 is my newest foray into this.


i have cyberlink muxes - which work fine if i record off dvb-s (creates .mpg file).


the new dvb-t card has channels that create .ts files (and reasonable size ones at that!). Is this how it will always be? or is there a way of setting h264 to save in another format (e.g. mpg / dvr-ms)... there doesnt appear to be a h264 dropdown box to choose which mux to use.

i have a suspicion that theres a good reason for this - and i hope this question hasnt already been asked - but if possible id like to know

Are wmv files supposed to play on the PCH? They don't play on mine. PCHServe log attached. Nothing in gbpvr logs.

I found a "helius" mvp version on ebay and i'm wondering if those who got this one have good or bad things to say about it - compared to the standard versions. this one appears to be 86001 EM1. in other words should i stay away and get the standard?
i'm particularly interested in the modulator (for an old but perfectly functional TV). is there a way to change channels (3/4) in the firmware and is that setting kept when switching to the mvpmc firmware?
