I am thinking of upgrading to Vista now service pack one is out. I was going to install it on my main HTPC rig which is networked to a GBPVR client and also to my office PC. Both of which access the internet through the main HTPC.
Probably the main reason for my moving to vista is that I would like to try EVR renderer. As I am not really interested in the trendy aero interface would a copy of Vista Home Basic be suitable as its a few quid cheaper?
I use an Asus P7131 Hybrid (appearently about the same as Dual), with the latest drivers (checked).
I change my computer (yeaaaah...) but I change Windows, too (From Media Center to Xp Pro SP2). So, I tried GbPVR which I know for long to watch DVB-T Live TV.
Unfortunately, the DVB-T function glitches awfully (same with the spammed Cyberlink software which came with my card) on the new PC for some channels.
If I re-put the Asus card in my "old" media Center, it works with no glitch... (same place; antenna not touched; only PC is other)
It annoys me a lot as the "old" PC is crap from Acer (this one a least) :
DualCore 2.4Ghz
Ram : 1Gb @ 266Mhz (yes, you read well... max for the ACER motherboard...)
HDD : 5200 rpm-thing
and the new one is :
Motherboard : Asus P5K C
RAM : 2 Gb @800Mhz
HDD : Raptor 36Gb
CPU : Intel Quad Q6600
I have the last version of GbPVR so I do have the last .ini files mentionned in other posts.
Of course, the channels I don't wnat to view work perfectly. Only 4 out of 7 always glitch, saying "Quality = 100; [signal]= 45".
Does someone have an idea? I do not understand that MS-@|#|#|@ works better.

I noticed a conflict flagged in my recordings that I wasn't expecting. The scenario looks like this:
Show A and B are recurring recordings (Record Season -- all episodes on this channel)
Show A has higher priority than show B on my recurring recordings menu.
On some day, show B runs 9pm to 10:30pm, show A runs 10pm to 11pm.
I expect show A (higher priority) to record and show B to be cut short or not record at all because of the conflict.
GBPVR seems to indicate that show A won't record due to a conflict with show B. On TV Guide, show A is orange (conflict) and show B is red (will record). The conflicts menu lists show A as having a conflict.
I do not know what will happen when the time comes to record, since this case happens sometime in the next week. However, the UI seems to indicate that the lower-priority show will record.
Is this a bug? Is it known/expected? What will happen when the show is actually aired?
When I load the EWA at times, it only loads partially... It does not seem to matter if I load it over the internet or my home network. Also it does not seem to matter if I load it from XP or Vista.
I have attached a picture of the "partial load" so you can see what I mean, as well as what happens when you try and click on something. I am at a loss, I have even added it to the "trusted sites" in IE. Does the same thing if I try and load it in FireFox as well.
Any suggestions? If need be, I can try and grab the logs off the pvr and post them.

Could this be applied to navigating the MVP menus please?? Mine just went to sleep whilst moving up and down the recordings list.
I don't know if this one is possible or worthwhile?
Any chance of a extra option on "settings" where alternative power schemes may be selected? I currently have "always on" and "sleep" and if I remember and am near the server, I set always on in the evening and sleep when I go to bed.
If/when I get a spare MVP, I may well have a deeper go at mvpmc and it's WOL which may make the above redundant.
I don't know if anybody else noticed this (couldn't find another post about it), but when a recording has a filename with a comma in it, it doesn't show in the recording list and it can't be imported.
For example, here in the Netherlands there's a show called "Help, mijn man is klusser" (translated: "Help, my husband is a handyman"). The recording is not shown in "Recordings" and I can't import the recording (but the file is there and in the wright place!).
But when I rename the file to "Help" it can be imported, so I guess it's the comma in the filename that causes the problem.
I'm really wanting to switch from Vista Media Center to either GBPVR or MediaPortal. I've settled on GBPVR due to some nice recommendations. I have figured out how to set up my tuner card and actually got video through it earlier today. My biggest issue right now is making the IR blaster and remote work. I have tried both HIP and IR Server Suite with little luck. I followed the IR Server Suite tutorial until I got to the Learning function. I once got a Both in the Port drop down but soon after I could no longer get it to come back. In the HIP tutorial I fail at the same thing. The Microsoft Remote I am using is a Version 2 (I think... it says Model 1039 on the bottom) and it works fine under Media Center. The blaster is a USB one that I have running two STB's. I have removed the suggested registry keys and even tried the replacement driver. No matter what I do I cannot make either recognize my remote. It is like it is no longer functioning. Have I messed up in changing the driver? Any help would be appreciated!
