I've been having some shows freeze up during playback recently, so I ran chkdsk with the repair option & if found several bad sectors - the files were playable after that. I know this drive is on the way out (Aluratek 500 GB external USB 2.0), but while I save up for a replacement,
1) Is there anything I can do to tell XP to avoid those sectors when writing in the future (or does chkdsk keep this info somewhere)? and
2) Anyone have any recommendations (I'm leaning WD or Hitatchi)? This drive was new last September. Granted PVR use is rough on drives, but 6 months is pretty short for a drive to fail.
Does anyone have any experience with the HD3450 PCi-e video card and how it does decoding H264?
I have come to the end of my patience with the AGP version of the HD2600XT, and think it could be partly due to my crappy motherboard (and the use of AGP)
Brand new install of XP last night, same errors - Vid BIOS failures, non-enumerated calls GUID calls. (from event viewer)
Currently I use GB-PVR on my desktop pc to capture shows and watch them without commercials with comskip. I'm having back surgery in 5 weeks and would like to be able to watch my shows on a laptop while I'm recuperating. I can borrow a laptop with built in wireless g so I was considering installing a wireless router, would this work to watch? I would like to be able to do scheduling if something came up I wanted to see.
I have finally got IR server suite to work! Now I am confused. I have two STB's and when it blasts it sends the signal to both STB's. Is it possible to do this with IR Server Suite?
I'm trying to get my Nova-T-500 working with GB-PVR v1.2.9 but I am having difficulty setting up the channels.
My problem appears to have occured before; that is, when I scan for channels I get the error message "No channels found. Please check your signal and configuration settings." despite having a preview window with a TV channel playing.
The solution to set <BDAScanType>2</BDAScanType> in the config.xml appears to have worked for other people with different cards, but when I searched in my config.xml file I couldn't find this setting, and adding it at the top of the BDA settings didn't work.
I've attached a zip of all the log files as I'm not sure which ones are relevent. Any help sorting this out would be much appreciated!

i prefer having my dvb-t source as preference for viewing, but tonight, while watching champions league on sky, am recording 2 things from freeview so had to change my capture preference order.
My router at home decided it didn't want to play nice anymore. It is a decent Linksys one, model WRT54G.
I can only connect one pc at home until I get a replacement or fix the problem with this one. It no longer will pick up a IP address from my cable modem.
Hi. My name is Bryan Anderson and I have a HVR-1600 with QAM support. I am using the latest drivers and the latest WinTV application. When I scan for QAM channels in WinTV. I get about 50 channels that are detected. However none actually give me any picture or sound. Also i have noticed from screen shots of over people who use WinTV that when they scan for channels in QAM, they actually get the names of the stations like WFOX or WNBC. I on the other hand i get just qam-1, qam-2. Now I have done this in both NJ with Comcast and in PA with comcast and i get the same result. It pissed me off so much that i tried this program. Again i scan and get like 50 channels but no picture. Now my analog signal works fine and Im guessing since im detecting channels that my board is nto defective. I have everything installed and I have absolutely no idea whats wrong. Any help would be amazing.
