I would like to use your program but my M780 card does not seem to work. I have noted on your forum that others seem to have it working.
I know it work with the Aver Media Center program because I get all the cable stations. (I do not use the OTA digital part)
With GBpvr the config will see the card (I added both the M780 qam and the M780 - plain) and I update the EPG. But when it does the san it does not find anything. Also when I run the PVRX2 it will either do nothing or crash.
I am using winxp pro with all the latest updates, even sp3 rc
Thanks for any help you can give to get me started in the right direction.
Okay I know this is a weird/silly question and I'm not sure even where to post it, but I thought I'd just give it a shot on the off chance.
Background: I've got GBpvr installed on my main PC, on a XP partition, so that I can mess around with the skinning elements. I don't have a capture card in this PC so I just select any old capture device and point it to my listings xml, this then lets me see the layout of the TV guide page with listings included.
The Problem: I had a bit of a IT related melt down yesterday and because I'm right in the middle of finalizing a theme for the Community Skin I've tried to move everything over to my main Vista partition. Unfortunately I can't get GBpver to display the TV guide page. If I try to open the TV guide in PVRX2 the program hangs and if I try it in GBpvr.exe I get the "No channels have been setup" message. I've tried every different capture source combination in the config, but no joy.
My question: Does anyone have any ideas how I could , kind of, trick GB into thinking that I have set up a capture source? I downloaded SQLiteSpy and tried to have a look at my gbpvr.db3 file , predictable thought I had no clue what I was looking at :o. I've tried copying over a gbpvr.db3 and config.xml backup from the XP partition, but again no joy.
I fully understand if this is just too left field but I'd really appreciate any ideas or suggestions.
hi!!
i have a Hauppauge HVR4000, i try to "Map digital channels to EPG channels" and no channels found. If a try with the hauppauge software Cyberlink Power Cinema there is not any problem....
what's wrong with it?
thanks!!
While I've fixed my live TV, recorded and videeo playback issues (by and large) I'm still struggling to get pvrx2 to play DVDs in a watchable way (get lots of stutter to the point its unwatchable). Using graphedit I've got it to playback DVDs from the disk no problems so it's not the drive or reading the disks. PowerDVD plays them back OK too, but I cant get gbpvr to work. I've tried using Cyberlink, nVidia and dscaler but to little difference. The only real difference I can see in the graphs is the DVD Navigator being used. The cyberlink one doesn't work within gbpvr - I get a blank screen, so I'm using the default DVD Navigator. Has anyone had problems with this? Should it work ok? Are there others people would recommend? No idea why the cyberlink one doesn't work, I assume that's what PDVD uses...
TO start, I recently had this same hardware working perfectly (GB-PVR wise) under MCE 2005. However, I was having some issues, so I formatted and went back to XP Pro. Now, I cannot watch TV.
The Error I am getting is this:

I know the drivers for the card (AverMedia M780) are correctly installed. I know it works, because I used it with GB-PVR 4 hours ago in Windows MCE 2005. I am just clueless... Any help is much appreciated.
Hi all i just ran across this great looking program hoping it fixes my problem.
Ive got Vista 64bit ( i know i know terrible) but I recently changed to directv. Now ive lost my DVR functionality. Ive got a Hauppauge 1600 and was curious if you can get the EPG for DirecTV on GBPVR? Is the best way to import this video into my system via Svideo and stereo audio instead of the run of the mill coax cable like i used to use on my cable tv. Thanks for the info i look forward to experimenting with my directv setup if you have any tips let me know!
I wasn't finding the specific answers to my questions on the site or wiki, so I decided to levy them here.
First off I'll describe my situation. I was recently relaxing when I decided that I wanted to start playing the game Earthbound, on an emulator that is. I was
sitting in my living room and I thought to myself, âI've got to get something set up so I can play this on my TV not my computer.â I've been kicking around the idea of making a cheap little computer to put on the home network so I can watch all of the digital media I acquire, listen to my entire music library on the big stereo (sans iPod relay that is), surf from the couch, emulate, etc...
I have some spare parts lying around from when I upgraded my PC last fall, processor, RAM, HD, DVD drive. So I finally decided I should buy a barebone PC off of newegg and get this done, relying on the fact that I'm being thrifty not impulsive so as to spend the bare minimum. I should point out that I'm not hugely computer savvy, but I'm computer literate and have an engineering background, so I can pick this stuff up with the proper resources. I've built a computer from parts once, and upgraded it once w/o complications, but thats not saying much.
I then got to thinking that paying $300 for digital media playback, web browsing, music access, and game emulation on my TV might be not be cost effective, when my XBOX360 can now handling video files on my TV, I'll always have my main PC for the web, my iPod hooks up to my stereo, and earthbound will always be on my PC. Which led to the epiphany, if I can make this potential little box that could into a DVR with all of the above mentioned to boot, that would be worth it.
Heres my current entertainment setup:
37â Olevia LCD TV, 720p
standard cable (HD not worth a cent more, well not a few thousand cents more per month)
cable highspeed internet
Computer parts wise I've got laying around:
3.0GHz Pentium D processor
1 Gb of RAM
a 150 Gb HD, IDE
obtaining windows XP not a problem
For this prospective box I'm thinking of getting:
Shuttle SG31G2S, barebones computer, would be hooking up the DVI to my TV
Open to a bigger HD
DVD ROM drive
One of those Haupguage TV capture cards
So now comes the negotiation part, would the above equipment be workable with GB-PVR? If I couldn't use that processor lying around I wouldn't be happy, I'm also quite partial to the form factor of those shuttle barebones.
As far as functionality of the program itself, I would stress that I'm really looking at being able to have this box as a fully functional PC as well, it wouldn't just always be stuck in PVR mode, I still want to surf the web, browse my main PCs files, and use existing applications like a normal computer. So, all of that considered, does anyone think that GB-PVR is right for me or not?
Sorry if this has been asked before (my searches came up empty :eek I'm having a small problem when viewing closed captions via SRT file and the SRT Viewer. I'm getting the italics tags displayed along with the text. IE:
<i> Whatever text is supposed to be italicized </i>
If I use DirectVobSub, everything is displayed fine. I just like being able to turn the captions on/off via remote.
Is this normal behavior for the SRT Viewer? I'm using GBPVR v 1.1.5 , but experience the same if using PVRX2.
I'm using PowerDVD decoders, in PVRX2. Anytime you exit a DVD and it comes back to the main menu, the next button pressed will return to the DVD player. Any button will return it. I have to eject the DVD and then it will return to main menu and restore normal operation. Sometimes re-exiting the DVD restores operation.
So you have two setups in config, QAM and Analog. You set up two different sources one for each. How do you switch in GBPVR from one source to another?
