A Synchronized Volume Control for your Application
Posted by: mkenyon2 - 2008-01-16, 09:08 PM - Forum: Developers - No Replies

I thought this article would be good background for anybody doing plugin stuff.
It's C#, which will work for a plugin in GBPVR, but can be converted to VB .Net.

Settup both digital and analog with a hvr-1600
Posted by: Warrenpettit - 2008-01-16, 09:03 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I have setup my hvr-1600 with ota hd. Things are working fine. Now I am trying to also add QAM access. I tried to add another capture device. When I check the "Show only devices detected" checkbox, the configuration program terminates. (no error). If I g through the list and choose hvr-1600 (analog) and click ok, the GBPVR configuration programs just terminates. Again no error.

First display of channel latency.. 15 seconds.
Posted by: koornneef - 2008-01-16, 08:24 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Hi, I've been trying to track down why startup of some features are so slow.

When I open the TV Guide, it takes a long time to first render.. For others also with slow machines (2.2GHz Celeron) , here's what I found:
- Rogers Cable has duplicate channels and duplicate listings in Schedules Direct. Remove the duplicates, I think there is some extra processing going on when channels are listed as "7 113 CityTV" . Actually, remove highdef if your card doesn't support it (and I don't know of any that do right now...) otherwise you might accidentally pick that to record on. Huge speedup. Actually, S.D. lists some channels in the 1000+ range which the cable box goes screwy over when entered -- remove those channels.

Here's my unsolved problem:

I still have not figured out why first tuning to a channel (LiveTV or via guide) takes 15+ seconds. WinTV is almost instant so it isn't the HVR-1600 or tuner drivers. Some posters (Sub, I think was one of them.. Hi and thanks!) suggested using Live Preview for faster channel switching. Channel switch is fast (after the first 15 seconds), and the show is not passing through the hard drive.
I do see this in the native logs... At about the right time:
pFG2->RenderEx(pOutputPin, AM_RENDEREX_RENDERTOEXISTINGRENDERERS, NULL) failed: -2147467262 (trying normal render() next)

I don't know if its configuration or crappy onboard SIS video, but there is room only for 1 card in this mini case, and that's for the tuner. So I can't try a different video card Sad

I have to use GBPVR.exe on overlay.

Anyone have any ideas?

Another note for users setting up plugins:

I found through twiddling and a few posts that plugins need to be in the \plugin folder to work on GBPVR.exe (non X2).. However, I also found the plugin needs to be in a plugin\name folder in order to show up on the config? If it is not in both places, the plugin won't either work or configure. I didn't see any documentation or sticky comment. I may have missed it.

One final thing. A small request. When the system is doing something intensive (for a slow processor, everything is intensive) can the next version have a dreaded hourglass of some sort. The kids get all impatient when waiting for the TV Guide to come up, Episode Search Results, or whatever and pound the remote buttons -- which are, of course, buffered.

Overall, a great app. Thanks!

  Honour padding not working
Posted by: bgowland - 2008-01-16, 07:06 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I've just seen some strange behaviour with a couple of test recordings. Logs included.

I was testing the honour padding setting - at about 18:39 I selected Heartbeat from the TV Guide and used Quick Rec. I then selected The Two Ronnies on the same channel and immediately following Heartbeat - again Quick Rec.

Heartbeat scheduled endtime was 18:50 but the Quick Rec. would have added 5 mins post-padding. The Two Ronnis would have had 2 mins pre-padding added.

I watched the Recording Status systray app. My first Nova-t showed it was recording Heartbeat then, for a brief moment at 18:48, it showed Sleeping. It then came back showing it was recording Heartbeat.

The log shows that at 18:48, the rec. service had started to record the Two Ronnies seemingly on the same tuner.

Is/was this a known issue? I haven't applied all of the patches for 1.1.5 - only ones that looked relevant.

Cheers,
Brian

  MVP and screensaver
Posted by: steveum - 2008-01-16, 05:29 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (3)

Whenever I start a slideshow on my MVP, the screensaver will still kick in after a period of inactivity. I swear older versions of GBPVR would keep the screensaver from kicking in during the screensaver. Is there something I can do to temporarily disable the screensaver for slideshow viewing?

Unable to change channels with haupblast
Posted by: jpsmith70 - 2008-01-16, 03:07 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I've seached, but haven't seen anyone with this issue.

I have a Hauppage HVR-1600. It's working using my Motorola STB and composite inputs. I cannot get PVRX2 to change the channels with haupblast. It sends the right info (looked at the logs) and the transmitter flashes, but the channel doesn't change. I then tried GBPVR just to see what would happen, and it's able to change the channels. So I'm a bit confused as to why PVRX2 doesn't work.

I can change channels by running haupblast manually, so I don't think it's a config problem, plus the fact that it works in the old version.

Just checked and the remote works in GBPVR but not PVRX2 also (to control the program, still doesn't change the channels in PVRX2).

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Jason

  Problems with VistaView DA-1N1-I
Posted by: spaceghost - 2008-01-16, 10:50 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (29)

I put the card in an pc and freshly loaded windows xp pro and did all the critical updates. I then loaded the latest driver for the card from the VistaView website. I then installed GBPVR and the GBVPVR patch for qam on the card.

The scan for qam in GBPVR found no channels. In BeyondTV on another pc, I receive 20-30 qam channels on a HD HomeRun. I actually used the cabletv to that pc, so signal strength should not be an issue. I then tried to configure the card for over the air hdtv in GBPVR. I hooked it up to my antenna. The scan revealed the channels I expected it to (I had use a Hauppauge HVR1600 in BeyondTV on a different pc for ota hd – I knew how many channels I should receive). When attempting to view live tv in GBPVR, no picture was displayed with the message – problem with your signal – signal strength bar totally green – quality bar was blank. No picture – no sound.

I now have two of the cars - both display the same symptoms.

Does anybody have this card working with qam in GBPVR? The analog side works well. Any tips are appreciated.

Support for DMB-T/H or any users got this to work in Hong Kong?
Posted by: cwwny - 2008-01-16, 06:07 AM - Forum: Forum Issues & Documentation - Replies (3)

This is a new digital tv format being rolled out in Hong Kong and China.
I see there are tuner cards sold around town. Will they work with GBPVR?

After recording, How long does Comskip still run?
Posted by: zehd - 2008-01-16, 05:40 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

After recording, How long does Comskip still run?

I have comskip running in parallel with recording. I have

Code:
live_tv=0 ; set to 1 if you use parallelprocessing and need the output while recording

After recording, the PostProcessing.bat is called on the recorded file, but I think Comskip is still running for a few seconds so it can write final entries into the log, and write out the comskip.txt.

About how much longer does comskip need after the postprocessing.bat is called?

If I have live_tv=1 then it appears that comskip is finsihed as soon as the recording ends...
