The following has happened twice so appears repeatable.
Scene:- two tuners, two consecutive progs to be recorded. During first recording also watching Live TV.
Fine for the first recording (1 min pre and 4 min post padding). At the pre-padding time of 1 min before the second rec is due, the rec svc sees no aval tuner so bombs off the Live TV. It then sees the now available tuner correctly and starts the second recording. Fine so far. However, a few seconds later it stops that recording and thinks the job is done.
The events are 15/1 at 1929 and 16/1 at 0759 (pre padding time of second rec).
(ignore the recording start at 15/1 1934 as this was a manual rec start when I saw the prog was not being recorded)
I've mentioned this before, but would it be possible to have a screen on the GBPVR GUI which controls the soundcard mixer?
I'd like to have a fader bar for Line-In and Microphone (which I can set on the soundcard software as a second Line-In), and also Wave (since this would be GBPVR volume) and perhaps a master volume. Mutes would be handy too.
Just wondering if there is a way to put any recurring recordings on hold. With the writer's strike, there is a lot of re-runs, so would like to put my recurring recordings on hold for the time being. Then when the strike is over, just put them back as active. Would also be nice at the end of a season so you don't get all the re-runs.
If this isn't currently possible, would it be that hard to implement in a future release?
I searched and read almost all support forum articles about client/server setup, and now I know how to set that up, but still a few things are not clear to me. Help me understand the followings: (BTW, I'm using HVR-1600 to tune QAM signals. The following questions assume Live TV Preview Mode.)
1. On the server side, what's happening? Does the server perform any extra work for the client/server mode, like writing video data to files?
2. What's the difference between streaming and file sharing mode? Which one is better for what kind of situation?
3. How long is the extra delay for watching Live TV, assuming the network connection is very fast and reliable like gigabit ethernet? What about the channel change delay?
4. Is it possible to use multiple clients with one server? Can they connect to the server simultaneously?
5. Is it possible to use other media player applications as clients? If so, how do the channel change and TV Guide work?
6. With 1.1.5 version, is watching Live HD channels (or SD channels) on the client side possible?
7. What's the hardware requirement for a client and a server? As long as I understand, the client side should have enough video rendering capability (not much of CPU power, but reasonably powerful video card), whereas the server should have enough video encoding capability (CPU dependent - but not seriously high, and any video chipset is ok). Is this correct?
8. Is the timeshift mode work with client/server setup? If so, will this improve the usability of clients over wireless network?
I have a 37" LCD 720 LG flatscreen. My GBPVR box is about 25 feet away and connected via a 50' SVGA cable I had laying around. My video card also has DVI out. I'm wondering if there would be a noticeable difference in picture quality if I got a DVI/HDMI adapter/cable and used that instead of VGA.
I just upgraded to newest version and love it. Sub, great work. Browsing around the threads I noticed some people having problems with back to back recordings... which made me think.....
I have two tuners. If I schedule two shows to record at the same time, say 10:00 to 11:00, with one minute pre and post padding, logically the recording service will use one tuner per show. What if I also schedule two shows to record from 11:00 to 12:00, with one minute pre and post padding? Will it start recording the second set of shows at 11:01 or will it stop recording the first sets of shows at 10:59? What if I add a third tuner?
I was recently given parts from an old dead HP media center PC.
It ran MCE 2005.
One of the parts was an Asus Falcon2 tuner card with a conexant hardware tuner chipset.
I cannot get this card to install to any OS other than MCE 2005.
Windows XP will not recognize any drivers I attempt to install as valid drivers for this device.
Even the drivers right off the HP website.
The drivers on the Asus site won't work either.
The only way i've gotten it to work is to install Media Center 2005 & let the OS scan the disk for the drivers.
Even having XP scan the MCE disk doesn't work.
It's very confusing.
Now, i've gotten this device to work on MCE with GBPVR so it isn't a total loss.
I just have to disable the MCE stuff.
I'd love to use this card on windows 2000 is anybody using one?
Hi
I've got my server going into standby and the MVPs sending WOLs to wake it and it all works fine. However, I have at least one MVP that I completely power down rather than putting into standby so when I power it up it can't load the dongle, presumably because the server is asleep. I'm assuming there is no way around this other than not powering it down - would I be right?
Cheers and thanks in advance.
I've started using GBPVR not so long ago, and am fairly happy with it... Apart from the regular EPG-troubles that is...
There is one thing i simply can't seem to get sorted:
The first channel in my list won't work. I've checked the frequency, altered the channels in the registry, tried to change the channel order, but it simply just won't show.
When i jump to this channel, i still get to see the last channel that i've watched... Quite annoying...
