So, you have DVDs, and want to have your entire collection at the click of a remote, just like your CDs. GBPVR does it, with a little help. Here's the formula I've used, compiled from sources here on the forum.
Viewing, Sorting, and Organizing: Movie Wiz
Pros: The UI in PVRX2 is simple, which is key in my system. It provides a way to have thumbnails and details for your movies, regardless of whether they are .mpg, .iso, or .avi. Does most of the lookup for you, but even if that falls short, you can type in your own description and even generate a thumbnail from the video itself.
Cons: To set up the movies/videos to see in Movie Wiz you need to go into the config app.
Creating files suitable for streaming to MVP: Video Archive (with add-ons)
Pros: Allows a simple interface in PVRX2 to import DVDs.
Cons:
1) UI, I don't use it... I like MovieWiz better.
2) SETUP!!! I installed the 3 suggested apps for DVD importing, but Cutteraman didn't have mplex.exe (only the .dll) Note: To get the required mplex.exe I installed DVDAuthorGUI.
Once everything was in place, I was able to put a DVD in, do 'DVD to MPEG', run the Movie Wiz config app, import the movie (and tweak details), and then watch my DVD in PVRX2 via Movie Wiz.
I think I've given a good overview to get people started. I pieced this together with the help of Sub, gEd, and others.
I am new here. Just bought the Hauppauge! HVR-1300. Also download and installed GB-PVR. However I can't watch live TV. It keep asking to use the configuration tool to set up the EPG. However I don't have the EPG. So I can't never setup the channel.
When I used the tunning assistance, it picked up the channels. But it doesn't help in anyway.
I must be missing something. I appreciate your helps.
I currently use Schedules Direct to recieve my guide info. I have searched the forums, but everything looks a couple of years old. When I record a show, it gives me the name and date in the title. Is there any way that I could get the name, season, & episode in the title?
This is one extension I would love, I'm not sure if this can be handled by a plugin.
- Block entire categories
- Block shows by name (Reg. Ex. even better, but partial is good)
- Password protected on/off toggle, if you see fit. If I'm blocking the kids, I prolly don't want to watch it either, but I can see people wanting that feature.
In the standard TV Guide, I can assign colours. I would also love to block the same way (block by colour?).
This would:
1. Not allow me to choose the item in the guide for playing or recording
2. Remove the result from search.. Same reason
3. Disallow me to channel surf to that program in live TV (this may require Core code changes??)
Basically, I would love to block out "Adult" content by category, maybe other categories like shopping
I would love to also selectively remove shows by partial name match like "Paid Advertising" or "Infomercial" or "Trailer Park Boys" (sorry, my kids really don't need that show at their current age.)

Config info for the record (in case you're collecting stats):
ASUS Prodigy P4S333VR, Celeron 2.2GHz, 1GB RAM, Hauppauge HVR-1600. ASUS supplied AGP DVI/Composite out video extension) All other components are on the Motherboard (SiS).
I'm using GBPVR.exe since my old 'spare' machine won't handle X2
It will run Overlay, or VMR7 -- but VMR7 is choppy on DVD playback at 85%++ CPU.
Please count another user in Canada looking for Closed Captioning. I had the HVR-1600 in the Vista machine and it supported CC in Media Center -- but not WinTV2000, so it is capable -- don't know what drivers/tricks, etc. Microsoft is using.

I'd like to see a utility after running a gbpvr restore which will check the plugins directory, skins and the gbpvr dirs. and tell me if the problematic files, dlls etc are the correct versions or identify if files are missing or conflicting and then allow better download or restore. Currently I'm running a restore install to sort things out, which often leaves other plugins or skins broken.
GB-PVR Config, in BDA Device conf say me "No know cards detected on this machine". I have tryed all Twinhan models show on pulldown, but when i try to map digital channel to EPG, i have an error.
GraphEdit start graphs (and preview windows with stream from USB Stick) with this filter name: "DTV-DVB UDXTTM6000 Crossbar" -> Video decoder out -> "DTV-DVB UDXTTM6000 Capture" .
With ProgDVB and DigitalTV the usb card is normally detected.
I've just got into using the BBC iPlayer and Channel 4 On Demand services - both currently playback through other players (see new iPlayer thread on Wishlist forum).
It'd be great if I could control these other players using the remote, rather than the (slightly unreliable wireless) mouse. A brief look at the Wiki and the remote .ini file makes me think that it can be done, but if anyone can give me any further info or advice I'd be grateful.
I have running throughput tests with mvpmc and am only gettings ~2mbs with my wired setup, and terrible stutter on video playback. (mpeg-2)
MVP<->Router<->LAN Adapter (Devolo 85Mbs) <-> LAN Adapter (Devolo 85Mbs) <-> PVR Server (on board NIC card)
I have tried tweaking the TCP settings, but this has very little effect.
I then setup a wireless adapter on the PVR Server and then the throughput went up to 5.5mbs, with no stutter on playback.
However I want to use the wired option only. I am hoping it is just the onboard NIC that is at fault and not the devolo hardware! I have another PC with a PCI NIC card, that I will try next.
Just wondering if anyone else experienced something similar with either powerline and/or onboard NIC setups?
I have recently purchased an MVP and have been following the guides for setting it up. I have gotten the mvpmc dongle loaded and have manually setup a share for the config file and verfied that I can mount and see the config file. However I cannot seem to load this dongle anymore it seems to be reverting to the hauppauge one. GBPVR is still set to the mvpmc dongle according to the config settings. I have uninstalled the hauppage MVP software from my PVR server.
Also what is the difference between pressing the power button on the MVP remote and turning of the power to it? It seems like the only difference is that with physical power off, the MVP will search for the boot server before trying to load the dongle.
I go into TV Guide, find Shockwave on History Channel on Friday at 9pm, hit OK on remote, go to Record button, hit OK, then choose "this weekly timeslot and channel". It creates a recurring recording on HISTP from 9pm to 9pm in the mini display, but when I select that recurring item it says the show goes from 9pm to 10pm. In Pending, it doesn't show the 1/11 or 1/18 show.
