Hey all...looking to build my first HTPC and gbpvr looks like a great pgm to build it around. My initial goal is to rip my DVD library (either iso or structured with the _TS folders) and have a means of playback. I have Cyberlink PowerDVD Ultra Deluxe 7 installed with its decoders set for software mpeg2 playback as well as dvd playback. Problem is I'm not seeing any menu highlights for navigation. If I launch the DVD file direct with Cyberlink it functions normally. Are there any tips anyone can offer me to properly configure gbpvr? Any other info I should offer to help troubleshoot this?
I'm pretty excited about setting this up...once I have it working on my current PC I hope to build the HTPC
after using the search without success I wuold like to ask for support / comments on the following problem:
I would like to use the Stanby of my pc in the future and tried to set up everything properly but it only suspends to Standby when GBPVR is not running.
Checking in the taskmanager I see that GBPVR will use around 20% CPU every 3 to 4 seconds before falling bak to 0%. I suspect this keeps XP from suspending.
Any idea why GBPVR does this? I already tried switching off all plugins without success. As soon as GBPVR is switched of, 5 minutes later (as set up in the Power-Managment of XP) the PC suspends just fine.
Manually suspending to standby also works with GBPVR running...
It seems I can see avi files, but not mpg files. The MVP is bought in the States, and I'm using it here in Sweden. Could I have an NTSC/PAL problem?
In my test, I could watch the avi aladdin fine at 2008-01-12 13:11:03.031, but none of my mpg tries works. See for example "FÃ¥ret Shaun" at 2008-01-12 13:09:04.109 (which is a recording) or the "live tv" "Midwives" at 2008-01-12 13:12:20.078
I was just wondering whether the following could be done:
- after adding a few movies via the 'Add Content' tab, I find it a bit tedious to locate the added movies via the 'Manage Content' tab, especially when dealing with a few hundred entries. I'd like to see another tab, like 'New Content' or something, to facilitate adding content.
- I usually don't keep a recording as is but rather cut out ads and stuff before encoding as h.264. Drawback is, while the description of the recording is still there (I think it's in gbpvr.db3), Movie Wizard doesn't find it. Could MV be configured to look into gbpvr's database as well ?
When I want to search my EPG I get to do that only with english characters, but my EPG is in hebrew. Is there anything I can config to be able to search the epg with hebrew letters?
Last December, I was able to resolve the hibernation (s4) and stand-by (s3) issues my GB-PVR HTPC/server had. Currently, my server wakes up every day to update the EPG and/or record TV and then puts itself back into stand-by mode after done. I can also turn the HTPC on with my MS MCE remote when I want to watch TV in the living room.
I was living a dream . But the dream became a nightmare when my GBPVR client-addicted teenage daughters realized they could not watch live TV or their recordings from their PCs if the server went into stand-by mode.
I was not willing to let go the stand-by mode. So I did a little research (thanks God for Google ). To make a long story short, I replaced the GB-PVR shortcuts on their clients' Desktops with a shortcut to a custom batch file that does the following:
It checks if the server is awake.
If the server is awake, it starts the GB-PVR application right away.
If the server is sleeping, it sends a Wake-on-LAN (WoL) magic packet to the server to wake it up.
It gives the server 5 seconds to wake up. (The server wakes up in less than 3 seconds).
Starts the GB-PVR application.
The batch file relies on the Depicus' "WolCmd.exe" utility to send WoL magic packets. "WolCmd.exe" is a clean freeware command-line utility and can be downloaded from here.
The attached HTTP.txt is the batch file that the clients should call instead of GB-PVR. (Rename it to HTTP.bat after downloading it) You must edit the file (with notepad) and add the IP and MAC numbers of your server. The MAC number can be obtained by running Windows' command prompt (Windows-R keys, type in "cmd", then press enter) and entering "ipconfig /all". The MAC number is listed as "Physical Address". Don't include the dashes (-) in the batch file.
If your GB-PVR is not installed in the folder "C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr", then you must also update that path in the HTPC.bat batch file.
Once you get HTPC.bat and WolCmd.exe, store them in the same folder. I stored mine in "C:\Program Files\WoL". You could put the files in different folders; just remember to change the batch file accordingly.
Then, create a Desktop shortcut to the HTPC.bat file. Optionally, you could assign the GB-PVR icon (red TV set) to the HTPC shortcut.
Note that for WoL to work, you must make sure that WoL is allowed in your server's BIOS and the server's Ethernet adapter driver is configured to accept magic packets. I decided not to discuss how to do this because I know it has been discussed ad nauseam in this forum.
Whenever I try to add Eugene's DVD Player (I'm using a Netstream 2000TV) as a custom task I get the following error when pressing OK to save my settings.
SQlite error
unrecognized token: "\".
I tried overwriting gbpvr.db3 with empty.db3, but that didn't seem to help. I do
not get the same error when adding any other .exe as a custom task, only the Eugene DVD Player.
Thanks for the great program, and thanks in advance for any help.
Dunno wtf happened, for some reason my dual tuner setup wasn't working (only recording 1 show instead of 2), so I ran a re-install and picked repair, now GB-PVR has lost my entire recorded programs list. I have a 941MB gbpvr.mdb file but I guess it's not "seeing" it for some reason? Any help on getting it back is appreciated, logs of what I have are attached.
I just threw an AMD 3800+ Dual core into my machine hoping to see a slight improvement over the single core 3000+.
Unfortunately it was just the opposite. SD shows begin stuttering both video and sound about 10 seconds into either a recorded show or Live TV. Forget HD, sound and video sucks from the moment it starts.
I tried a variety of codecs and muxes, no luck.
I check the config and set ForceSingleProcessorAffinity to true, no luck.
I finally manually set processor affinity via Task Manager and... Viola!! Both SD and HD run smooth as silk.
It seems that ForceSingleProcessorAffinity does not do anything for me. Is this setting broke in 1.1.5?
Is there anyway to make the processor affinity stick between runs of the program?
Should I also set affinity for the Recording task?
