I have been using GBPVR for the past month or so and have been generally pleased. I have a MVP connected via s-video to a 16x9 TV and it seems that every file except my personal widescreen DVD rips play in zoomed mode.
How can I get the videos to play without cropping the sides?
I have installed the Hauppauge software and set the resolution on the MVP to 16x9 and of couse set the aspect ratio to 16x9 in the GBPVR config. I have tried making changes in the config.xml but with no successful. When I play the movies in PVRX2 on my PC, the screen is formated properly. For instance a video with a resolution of 640x272 should have black bars on the top and bottom not cropped on the ends as it is on my tv.
I thought that Zprocess2 might correct this issue but have not been able to get this work. The unit reboots on the first attempt and then returns to video menu on each successive attempt but I will wait for a response before I create a separate thread for this.
What version of windows media player should I install before installing gbpvr? I searched the forums and didn't see an answer (I didn't look too hard :O) .
I have searched through the forums but i couldnt seem to find a definative answer, but how can i convert my GB-PVR recordings too another format such as divx or xvid?
I have looked everywhere but either im being an idiot or this functionality isnt there!
Has anyone tried this or any thoughts on implementations?
I know there are services such as http://www.aql.com/site/howitworks4.php which act as SMS to Email gateways, so I guess the issue is having a pluging which can check a POP3 inbox and scan a message.
Say "Channel No","Start Time","Stop Time","Date". So to record BBC1 for an hour from 8PM on 25th January is:
01,2000,2100,25-01-08
Ah, just a random thought. Came about after I discovered my OperaMini client on my phone lets me view the EWA but can't seem to set any recordings.
Sling Media has cooked up a device that can fling high-definition content from a cable set-top box to a personal computer over a home network -- and potentially even over the Internet.
The Slingbox PRO-HD, which the company plans to demonstrate at the Consumer Electronics Show next week, will be able to stream up to 1080i HD content (which has 1920-by-1080 screen resolution) to PCs over a user's home network.
According to Sling, the device can also deliver HDTV over the Internet to a remote location if the broadband connections on both ends are fast enough. In some cases, the company said, as little as 1.5 megabits per second has proved to be sufficient to provide HD streaming over the Internet.
Moreover, the PRO-HD may be used to deliver high-definition video to another HDTV set via the company's forthcoming SlingCatcher.
The Slingbox PRO-HD includes multiple inputs and outputs, including digital audio and a digital ATSC/QAM tuner. The box has a $399.99 suggested retail price and is slated to be available in the third quarter.
The company released a lower-end HD-capable device with a suggested retail price of $179.99, the Slingbox Solo, in September.
Also at CES, Sling will demonstrate its SlingPlayer Mobile software working on Research In Motion's BlackBerry Pearl 8120, which allows Slingbox owners to watch their home TV programming. The BlackBerry version of the software will be available later this year for $29.99.
Sling Media is a wholly owned subsidiary of EchoStar Holding Corp. EchoStar acquired Sling last fall in a deal valued at $380 million.
I know it's been asked for before but it would be really useful to be able to do a search by genre. I know there's a plugin to do this but it would be great if it was built in to GBPVR.
How about the facility to change the "Exit" option on the main menu for a choice from "Standby" or "Hibernate" or "Shutdown" (perhaps configured in config.xml). It's possible to exit GBPVR from the system menu should the need arise.
2. Free space remaining indicator
I'd be interested to see this with "Recordings" space and "Other Used Space" in a different colour. This would give a 3 segment pie-chart showing space taken up by recordings, other stuff (OS / music, etc) and free space.
3. Audio Mixer
I've recently hit a shortage of inputs on my home theater amplifier and got thinking that instead of mechanical Phono switch boxes, why not use the Line-Inputs of the soundcard to switch audio.
If GBPVR could have an option to select between sources on the soundcard, it would give me a software phono switch. My soundcard has 1x 3.5mm line-in and 3x CD-ROM style line-ins, so I would need an option to configure and name them in an XML somewhere (i.e. Line-In = "VCR", CD-ROM = "Sky", AUX = "Portable Music Player" etc).
4. Channel updater / sorter from System menu
I'm fairly sure sub said he's working on this, but a facility to add new channels and organise favourites from the system menu would be nice.
5. Background music
Maybe this already exists, but what about background music in the menus like Sky have? Perhaps a folder /bgmusic that, if there is music in it plays the music, otherwise not.
6. VNC Friendly mode
I don't know if this is even possible, but if there is an API allowing GBPVR to detect VNC is currently serving a client that GBPVR will stop doing the nice swish animations and instead only show the final result from keystrokes. VNC gets confused by the animations and doesn't update the screen correctly (although to be fair, VNC gets confused very easily).
The idea is as an alternative to EnhancedWebAdmin; that there be an idiot-proof "remote control" interface for GBPVR.
Well, that should open some debate. I wouldn't class any of these things as system critical, just nice additional options to have.
When setting a series recording is there any filtering on repeats?
For example some of our channels show the same programs 2 or 3 times in the coarse of a day and I only want to record 1 of each episode rather than 3. Is that possible ? or maybe it does it already?
Please help if you can. I am running PVRX2 under windows 2000 SP4. I think that I shouldn't have updated my .net service to the latest (2.0 security update). Now GBPVR and PVRX2 and config.exe all crash when I try to start them up. I would attach a log file, but don't know which one to upload or at least attach to this forum post. Please advise.
