  Problem with DvbToXmltv
Posted by: tieke - 2007-11-19, 10:54 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

sub Wrote:There is a utility for the current version of GB-PVR that can be used to extra the sky tv listings from a DVB-S device to an xmltv file, which can then be used with analog or digital capture sources.

Hi sub, just tried this and it seems to work well - do you routinely use these listings yourself? (I seem to recall you previously saying something about the quality of the descriptions being lacking and multiple programs being put into one listing, but it seems fine to me).

One thing though (and it may not be specific to this source) - if I specify the tvguide.xml for both my dvb and pvr150 sources, when I go to the TVGuide, on channels which both sources can handle, there are two listings for every timeslot (ie 8.30-9.30 will list program A, but not highlight it on the guide, pressing right will list program A again for the same timeslot, this time highlighted, then right again for the next program etc). I might try deleting and reinstalling the sources to fix this, or maybe the dvb source should be set to using the direct dvb epg rather than the dvb xml file?

sub Wrote:...There is a few channels missing from the list ... this is a pretty simple matter of adding adding another channel definition for each to DvbToXMLTV.xml.
As far as additional definitions go, how difficult would it be to add the movie channels? (ie sky movies1, movie greats, MGM and TCM?). I assume the Discovery Travel and Adventure channel isn't available as it's a TelstraClear channel rather than Sky.

thanks again for this utility - fulfils one of the main reasons I bought my DVB-S card a year or two ago!

cheers,
tieke

  D3DERR_DEVICELOST errors
Posted by: tieke - 2007-11-19, 08:57 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

[EDIT] - After uninstalling/stopping several non-gbpvr programs and services and changing the render modes a few times, I don't seem to get this very often now, so ignore the following for the moment.

Quote:Just completed a new install on a new machine, and am having issues with PVRX2 hanging if I try to access it after leaving it for a while. I suspect the cause lies with the multiple "device lost...m_pD3DDev->Present() failed..Error code : 88760868 D3DERR_DEVICELOST" error messages I see in the pvrx2.exe native logs (attached). I'll give EVR a try, but is there something obvious I have to do to fix this directdraw error?

cheers,

tieke

  Display correct aspact ratio
Posted by: Dave_M - 2007-11-19, 03:45 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (2)

I have a 16:10 display and there is only 4:3 or 16:9 as an option for telivision shape. So I have to watch it stretched which is pretty annoying. Anyone else watching TV on their computer with a widescreen monitor?

  EVR and Comskip
Posted by: ceandra - 2007-11-19, 02:06 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Does Comskip work with the EVR recording type? I am running XP, so have to stretch to enable EVR, and it would not be worth it if no Comskip.

Sound way off on recorded show
Posted by: ceandra - 2007-11-19, 01:44 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

I am using the Cyberlink v5.0.1307 mux. In most cases, it seems to be fine. However, I have found that "live action" like football, baseball, and NASCAR, the sound is delayed. These shows are typically 3-4 hours. At the beginning, there is a slight delay, perhaps a second at most. By the end, the sound is delayed by 5-6 seconds.

I am running an Aver m780 card, and recording 1080i clear qam channels for these shows. Much of my other recordings are on CBS, which does not have clear qam HD, so it is in SD (480p I think), and these are fine for 1-hour shows.

I have the latest gbpvr (downloaded yesterday, plus all the patches form the survival guide. However, this was happening on the prior version as well.

I found in the past that using the dvr-ms mux eliminated the problem. However, I never got Comskip to work live (works just fine post-processing), so I went back to Cyberlink. Had same delayed speech issue with "native" mux.

I don't know if it is all 1080i programs or just live action, but I believe it is just the live action shows.

I don't know which is worse, delayed voice or no Comskip. I'll play with dvr-ms tonight on another football game. Initially I do not see comskip starting to run. Either fixing the delay or getting Comskip to go live would do me.

Thanks
Chuck

  Before I waste money...
Posted by: Howry - 2007-11-19, 01:35 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (4)

Right now I have a 3000+ Socket 939 Processor, a 9600se video card(AGP) to go along with 512 megs of memory sitting out in my garage. My current system (built for gaming) really strains when im watching tv and trying to game at the same time. TV Picture goes into slow motion and gets choppy. Anyhow would the above along with a Haupage 1600 allow me to watch HDTV or would I not have enough oomph.

Im trying to decide on the most cost effective way for me to be able to watch HD through a 2nd computer so I can get the Tuner card out of this one.

Or would I be better off Just building a cheap new system?

Thanks for your opinions. Im new to all this still.

Looking through the AGP Card to use thread I notice the 9550 card seems to run it ok so I would assume the 9600se is a step above that?

  CTTV patch not effective
Posted by: jackk - 2007-11-19, 01:15 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I just upgraded to the newest version and configured CT TV for the TV Guide. Only got one days listings and then found the patch GBPVRbackendcommon. after running it, I still only get one days listings. Restarted the computer to no avail. Do I have to wait for the automatic listings or what? The file is in the GBPVR folder

Thanks

  software for vacation rental
Posted by: Ulala - 2007-11-19, 12:07 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Hello,

I'm building a media center PC for my dad's vacation rental and I'm looking for the right software. I've given GB-PVR a spin and I think it works great. However, as it is a vacation rental with many different tenants going through, I'm concerned what can happen (especially with options like "delete" in the menu!). Is there any way to change the interface options to make it more secure? Also, is there a way to lock the interface so people wouldn't be able to exit back to Windows without a password?

If GB-PVR isn't capable of these things yet, I totally understand! It's a home theater enthusiast's program (not a vacation rental owner's) and does a great job doing what it does. I intend to start using it at home with my own PC. I would appreciate any help in pointing me in the right direction of finding a more secure software for something like a vacation rental media center PC. Thanks much for your insight!

  Freecom Usb stick
Posted by: the moog - 2007-11-18, 11:41 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (12)

I've just purchased a new Freecom stick to replace a damaged one.
The hardware configuration says its a REALTEC 2831U and thus does not work GBPVR.
I've tried altering with the BDA.ini file with no luck.
Here is the filtercheck file.
