  Streaming Failed - transcoder exited
Posted by: yagilh - 2021-06-02, 10:02 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (75)

Hi,
Today I installed NextPVR (Version: 5.1.2.210601) on a Windows 10 machine (Lenovo IdeaPad 5).

I have a Hauppauge tuner (WinTV-USB2).

(This setup works with Windows Media Center.)

When I try to "watch now" on the web app, I get the message: Streaming Failed - transcoder exited

When I try to "watch now" on the desktop app, I get a black screen.

Please help,

  Kodi Settings
Posted by: guarddog13 - 2021-06-02, 08:22 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (2)

I struggle with Kodi quite a bit lol. I always have. I just am not a huge fan of the setup. However, I really really like the NextPVR integration within Kodi so I'm giving it a try. I have a Shield TV 2019 Pro and thought that it would be able to handle the Hardware Acceleration. For some reason if this is turned on the NextPVR feed becomes almost unusable. I would think the Shield could handle HW better than SW or am I wrong. What are ultimately the best settings, within Kodi, to have to get the best possible stream from NextPVR, which is loaded on a Rasp. Pi4, btw.

Streaming Failed (transcoder exited) -2 The connection timed out.
Posted by: mmortal03 - 2021-06-02, 07:42 PM - Forum: Roku - Replies (20)

I'm testing on a Roku Streaming Stick 3600X
Roku Software version 10.0.0 build 4195-24
NextPVR UI Version 1.11 build 10

I already know that this Roku model cannot decode AC3. I don't know about its video format support situation, but I was able to play a NextPVR TV recording (without audio, of course, as I'm not hooked up to a digital audio decoding receiver).

However, when I go to Live TV, I get:

Starting Device. Please Wait...
Receiving Data ([various increasing numbers])
Streaming Failed (transcoder exited)
-2 The connection timed out.

I know the problem isn't my NextPVR server, as NextPVR Live TV playback is working just fine on my Fire TV Stick 4K within the NextPVR Kodi add-on.

I have been trying with no luck to get nextpvr to be able to access a usb hardrive to store recordings on.
I am a complete noob when it comes to linux.
Hoping someone could tell me exactly how i do this?
Just to note it is debian on a raspberry pi, and have tried some guides that get you to mount the drive, but just get told it is already mounted.

  Last update issue
Posted by: bohosh - 2021-06-01, 07:45 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (10)

Hi, I just updated 5.1.1.210601 and found a problem.
I use nextpvr with emby and when I try to watch live TV every 5 to 10 minutes, it stops.
I have to go back and start the channel again, but it happened again and again ...
Maybe I'm missing something ...
I had no problem with the previous version at all.

PS: Can I downgrade to nextpvr to an older version?

  Pluto TV with VOD
Posted by: mvallevand - 2021-06-01, 05:35 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (1)

I have updated the Pluto TV Extra with VOD support for NextPVR 5.1.2.  The new VOD feature in NextPVR 5.12. allows you to watch VOD live in the web app but you can also download VOD as recording for later viewing in other NextPVR clients.

For what is available on Pluto TV check this link https://pluto.tv/on-demand

Information on installing the Extra is at https://github.com/sub3/NextPVR/wiki/Extra-PlutoTV

Support for the Extra is here https://forums.nextpvr.com/forumdisplay.php?fid=64

Good watching.

Martin

Cannot watch a Channel from an HdPvr Capture Source if the channel is recording
Posted by: PRBUK - 2021-05-31, 03:45 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (17)

Issue: - Cannot start live streaming a channel on an HdPvr Source if the HdPvr channel is being recorded
            - Concurrent Live Streams from an HdPvr Source work OK if the channel is not being recorded
The issue does not happen on a Dvb-S or Dvb-T source

Scenario 1:
a) Start to view a channel on the HdPvr Source -> Live Stream works OK
b) Start to record the channel -> The recording starts (and records OK) and the Live stream continues
c) Stop the Live Stream -> The channel continues to record
d) Start to view the channel live again -> Fails
e) Stop the recording -> OK
f) Start to view the channel live again -> Live Stream works OK

Scenario 2:
a) Start to record a channel on the HdPvr source -> Recording starts
b) Start to view the channel live -> Fails
c) Stop the recording -> OK
d) Start to view the channel Live -> OK

Scenario 3:
a) Start to view a channel on the HdPvr source -> OK
b) Start to view the same channel from a different machine -> OK (NPVR Backend Status shows both clients active, so concurrent live streams work OK)
c) Start to record the channel -> OK (Backend status shows 2 live feeds and the recording feed)
d) Stop either feed and attempt to restart the live channel -> fails

An HdPvr capture card requires a dedicated Set Top Box, so a scarce resource which cannot be easily increased.  This bug prevents viewing a channel if you also want to record it - unless you are able to start the live channel before the recording starts!  It is obviously possible to watch (on multiple feeds) whilst recording, provided the live channels are started before the recording starts....

The attached logs show an example of scenario 3.

The clients used were Kodi 19.1, but the same results are seen if using the Npvr Web interface (the logs get more noisy due to transcoding!).  Note that the test server is on the December NextPvr build, but the results are the same on the March build

Is there something I have missed in my config?
