I spent a lot of time trying to figure out why my MVP would crash every time i tried to start video on it, and finally found the logs and noticed this:
2007-09-12 18:44:48.671 ERROR [7] Media stream thread caught exception: System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException: Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Temp\MVP000DFE225D9C2.mpg'
From what I understand a temporary .mpg file is created in Temp for the MVP to stream from. I didn't have a C:\Temp folder so since the software couldn't create a file there, my MVP would just crash and reboot. I created a Temp folder on the root of my drive and now the device works perfectly.
Do you think you could put a check into future versions to make sure that users have a C:\Temp folder when running GBPVR? This was just a really frustrating issue to diagnose and it would be a good idea to prevent other users from having this same issue.
I had a lot of confusion concerning the differences between the 3 terms "Channel Number", "Channel Name", and especially "Channel Source". I'm still not sure of the name's definition, but these 3 really need to be checked for accuracy and added to the WIKI. Particularly this and this page.
Channel Name: ??? Non-Editible field. You get what you've got, I guess. Channel Source: The channel number that is read from your tuner. Channel Number: Assign a channel to a number. This also changes it's Number and Sort Order within the TV Guide.
Thank You
ADDED: Additional Example for "Channel Mapping"
me Wrote:If the EPG shows channel 33 as ESPN, the you need to figure out which channel ESPN is being broadcasted on then change its "channel source" value to that. This moves the broadcast to the EPG's channel.
I am using PVRX2 now and my remote buttons are not working like they did in GBPVR. I have a Remote Wonder Plus and I was using a special plugin to get it to work. Does anyone know if there is a plugin or anyway to make all of the buttons work for PVRX2.
As it stands right now, the only buttons that seem to do anything are the numbers ot change the channel and the arrows and ok.- No pause, recorde, guide, show info, etc...
I just upgraded my GBPVR to 1.016 and I am having problems running PVRX2. The regular old GBPVR still works fine, but the new PVRX2 is not running well at all. The video is extremely choppy and skips all over the place. Even the beginning menu is choppy, scrolling from option to option. It doesn't seem to make any difference which video renderer I choose either. When I choose the different renderers, it changes the way that GBPVR displays, but not any change to PVRX2. Any idea what is happening? I really want to use PVRX2 as it looks nice... I just don't know what else to do.
I think my system is still fast enough that this shouldn't be aproblem, but I guess I don't know for sure how much has changed.
I have:
Athlon XP 2600
768 MB ram
ATI 9600xt
ATI TV Wonder Elite (THEATER 550)
I've been very happy with my Hauppauge 150's and will probably still use them for analog signals, but I'm not set on Hauppauge. Are there better DVB-T cards out there?
And while I'm at it, what are Aussies doing for EPG besides ICETV ?
I first installed the Hauppage software, played a little, then installed GB-PVR and told it to optimize the remote.
1. Am I supposed to still be able to use WinTV functions as-is without GB-PVR disrupting it's functionality, or are there known problems?
2. Whenever I try to watch Hauppage's WinTV Live, I see it on my PC monitor - but I get a GB-PVR menu display on the TV Out that overlays and obscures the WinTV output - even though GB-PVR isn't running in the foreground on my PC, or even in the systray. How do I get GB-PVR to stop doing this? I looked for a process to kill in Windows, but didn't see anything that looked like GB-PVR.
3. Can GB-PVR output simultaneously to the PC monitor AND TV Out, like WinTV? If so, how do you do that? Whenever I try to run Live TV video out from GB-PVR I get a black screen on my PC that says it's outputting to TV, hit Home to end and bring video back to PC.
4. Can I schedule recordings with either Titan TV (using Hauppage WinTV), or use GB-PVR manual schedule recording functions - or must I now just use GB-PVR? As both are installed, they seem to be runing in the background/sleep, and try to pop out to do the job. I had a failure on WinTV where the recording was scheduled using TitanTV, but the manual GB-PVR recording schedule ran successfully.
5. I later had a failure with a GB-PVR scheduled recording, but thought maybe I had set quality and bitrate too high (select high then modified it to max all parameters). Will this cause a recording to fail, and how do you troubleshoot failed recordings?
6. How do you kill a GB-PVR recording in progress?
I notice that the news reader is no longer to be found in the 1.0.16 version of this fantastic piece of software. I just upgraded from 0.99 to the newest version. Tried to install the RSS plugin, but it doesnt function.
Its a pitty, I just love to lie down on the sofa and zap through the latest news when I come home from work.
Does anybody know of a solution to this?? Otherwise I'll downgrade again.
GB-PVR Newbie here, hoping someone can point me in the right direction on this...
Watching live TV in PVRX2 the audio is fine but there is no picture - same thing if I record some live tv and try to play back. There is a quality and signal strength indicator on live tv for the first few seconds and that suggests both are ok or good (two thirds to full bar) but there is a message on the screen saying no signal detected. This contrasts with PVRConfig - both audio and picture working fine in the preview mode when mapping channels.
Running GB-PVR 1.0.16 and also downloaded new PVRX2 executable (no change). Other info: P4 2Ghz, 1GB RAM, Nova-T-500 dual tuner card, XP w SP2, Installed Direct X9.0b, .net 2.0, recent Windows Media before installing GB-PVR, also have registered the ati & Cyberlink muxes - tried both, no difference.
Logs attached in a zip and also included a screen shot gif of the live tv view.
Last point - I noticed this error in the pvrx2.exe log:
2007-09-12 22:48:20.468 VERBOSE m_pD3DDev->Present() failed
Error code : 80004005
E_FAIL
An undetermined error occurred
Just bought a new HD tv and the colour using mvp on rgb scart is really green - the standard blue skin is completely green. Is there a config setting I can adjust?
