I'm about to cry. Seriously, my soul has become full of demated hatrid and I dont really appreceate that. Sigh.... I think I have almost every problem there is regarding PVR channels.
Actually, this all revolves around one problem: My cable provider is not in the EPG (no surprise, since it's a private local provider who's redistributing DirectTV channels). Comcast's local service comes VERY-VERY close, but uses different channel numbers. I previously tried SageTV and needed only to re-number the channels (everything else adjusted to the change). I've learned the hard way that GBPVR is quite different...
The spillover effects...
Configuring my tuner with Comcast's cable EPG will skip about half of my local channels (weird, but true).
Because Comcast's channels do not match mine, I need to re-name each one to fix the EPG mismatch (channel mapping).
Additionally, I need review all my channels again to set them in the right order, matching my cable service (channel numbering).
Finally, I also need to fine-tune some channels that just don't look right in GBPVR.
(I get the middle two confused, since their corrective actions are almost identical!)
Although the WIKI's EPG-page did help me get this far, I am still completely lost and frustrated. Also, the "channel number" page holds nothing but the perfectly obvious.
With the two Comcast's EPGs: At best, some channels are missing and some look really statically. It's weird, since DScaler and SageTV didn't have this problem. If I knew difference between the methods GBPVR and the rest use to scan, I could look into this myself. Theres also the issue of all that manual configuring. As I understand it, I need to go through all the channels twice! Once to fix the EPG, then again to fix the number-order??? And that's assuming I can get all my channels.
But that was all yesterday. Today (all day, since 4:45am, I might add) I've been tackling the Semi-Manual method (I'd call it the completely manual but semi-reg method) from this page in the WIKI. After a couple of HOURS of work, I see that everything is in the registry as it should be. After restarting "explorer", I re-load the PVR and all my frequencies are somehow wrong! Wekk, I get a few channels but they don't match the program guide, are quite staticy, and don't appear to be the correct channels for those stations.
I'm still franticly working at this and I'll be watching this thread like a hawk! Tell me precisely what I need to do to, and I'll apply it word-for-word! Please, before I pull out the rest of my hair!

So once upon at time I was on this forum and asked about entering channel frequencies directly into the config utility but I cannot find it now. It detailed in the channel setup area where you could enter the frequencies directly not a registry edit. Does anyone know where that thread is or how to do it again? I uninstalled GBPVR but backed up the directories before uninstalling. So is it possible that this info is stored some where in there.
@Sub is the manual entry of these frequencies stored in the DB maybe somewhere that I could get it out of there? Or if I just replace the directory and upgrade to 1.0.16 will it pick these frequencies backup? So I dont have to set these all over? I have no shows to be watched should I just start GBPVR with a clean install and clean DB? after removing 99.05 it left lots of scheduled tasks and old show files around that I manually deleted. Thanks.
I've seen from reading the forums that the FF/RWD functionality is a known problem. Sub, you have said that FF/RW don't work well due to the way GB-PVR uses the DirectShow filters (or something like that).
Would it be possible to implement FF/RWD as continuous skipping instead? This is how most DVD players / commercial DVRs seem to work. The skip buttons still do a one-time skip, like GB-PVR does. But tapping the FF button once will make the video continuously "skip" forward at 2x the frame rate. Tapping FF again will put it at 4x, then 8x, then 16x, and then back to 1x. Rewind would work similarly, except in reverse.
Is this possible to implement within the GB-PVR framework? I would think it is possible since one-time skipping works great in both directions.
Just curious how many (if any) users have the Wireless MVP and actually have it working wireless, and if so, how well does it work? Personally, I have 4 wireless MP3 players in my house and I use all but one hardwired because the wireless isn't robust enough to even stream music (granted, they are all 802.11b).
Building a HTPC for a friend. It will run 24/7 and the most stressed it will get is a dual tuner DVB-T.
I was therefore thinking AMD sempron as they are cheap and have cool and quiet. I would also prefer onboard graphics. Howeber my mates LCD TV only has DVI input.
I followed instructions for adding a capture card from the wiki, but the example there is only for digital ones, and mine is analog.
How can i tell which parameters to add to the direct.ini file?
This card has a hardware MPEG2 encoder chip. http://www.avermedia.com/cgi-bin/products_odm_M785.asp
Looking for some info on what AGP cards some of you are running that give you decent performance and picture using PVRX2. My 9200 works flawlessy with GBPVR.exe but slows to a crawl on PVRX2.TIA
