  GB-PVR Slow and Resource Hog?
Posted by: MikalCarbine - 2007-07-09, 10:34 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

I just installed GB-PVR 1.0.8 and finally got it working correctly (EPG, remote, etc) but I have a couple questions, please forgive my newbness, I have had my PVR-250 for a while but never dove too far into 'HTPCing'

First off, here are my hardware specs:

AMD 3800+ X2 at 2.8GHz
2G Mushkin XP4000 3-3-2-8 at ~260mhz
Powercolor X1900XTX
74G WD Raptor and 320G Seagate (for storage)
Audigy 2 ZS Soundcard
WinTV PVR-250

I no doubt have the necessary hardware to run this program nicely. I did some searching prior to this but couldn't really find any answers

My first question/concern is the pause time in between changing channels. After changing a channel I usually wait a good 5-10 seconds for it to load and it'll stutter another second then be fine after that. I was wondering if this is because I am using software encoding? I know that the PVR-250 is capable of hardware encoding but I cannot enable it in the GB options (only a PVR-350, why is that?)

I would also like to know if GB-PVR is a resource hog for others, I have seen the main executable using over 100mb of memory (not that it matters with 2G). I was unsure if that may be a problem or not

Thanks!

pvrx2 - no osd, esc not working
Posted by: bigC - 2007-07-09, 10:05 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (19)

Just installed the new 1.0.8. Great work but I have 2 issues with the new pvrx2 exe...

1.The esc key no longer takes me to the main menu. The program just flickers a bit when I push it.

2. The osd doesn't appear onmouseover in live tv or recorded shows. Keyboard shortcuts don't seem to work here either. The only way out is to close gbpvr. I tried overlay manager mode but it didn't help.

Logs attached.

Win XP sp2
MSI ATI Theater 550 Pro

PVRX2 OSD skin.xml vs. Popups xml files
Posted by: Graham - 2007-07-09, 09:46 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (1)

I am syntax adverse. I can't get my head around anything that is even a little bit complicated. The skin xml files in previous releases were beyond me.

I like the xml files in the Popups folder. One xml for each popup gets my vote.

It would be more consistent and easier for dummies like me (there must be one or two!) if the skin.xml file in the OSD folder was broken up into seperate xml files in the Popups folder.

I've noticed that changes to the OSD skin.xml only take effect when PVRX2 is restarted. Changes to the Popups xml files take effect the next time that the popup pops up, no restart is required. Being able to test xml changes without having to restart PVRX2 is a good thing.

Thanks

  Weird Error when updating EPG
Posted by: MikalCarbine - 2007-07-09, 09:42 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hey Forum!

I'm excited to get this software going as WinTV sucks. I went through the setup guide at wiki and I'm running into a problem when I set up my EPG. I live in the US so I made a Zap2it account, put in all my settings and tried to update the EPG but I receive this error:

I'm not sure what's going on. I selected the right zip code and cable provider on Zap2it's page and I rechecked my password under GB-PVR config but nothing helped. I might want to add that I am behind a WRT-54G firewall, do I need to port forward at all?

Thanks a lot!

  V0.99.12 - CTRL-Z goes to Standby
Posted by: serafis - 2007-07-09, 09:37 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Hi, still using V0.99.12 until I can find some free time to upgrade.

In GBPVR, when I press Vol- on the remote, or Ctrl-Z from the keyboard, the PC displays the "Windows is entering standby mode" screen. This displays until I press OK on the remote, then the PC goes into standby mode.

I'm have a PVR-150MCE under WINXP/SP2 with HIP for controlling the remote. GBPVR is using VMR9 Custom rendering via the NVidia Purevideo codec for video, and FFDShow for audio, with 5.1 output via SPDIF.

Since the volume controls don't do anything in SPDIF mode, I've disbled the Vol - key in HIP but I wondered if anyone knows why this is happening. It only happens in GBPVR, not from the desktop or any other application.

  three problems
Posted by: tso617 - 2007-07-09, 09:31 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

OK, now that I've had a play, I notice 3 possible problems:

1. On my Video Library I have over 250 movies, I think there maybe a problem with the page numbering, i.e. when it gets over 100/100 it shifts the last digit of the number to a new line and aligns it chopping off the top third of the numbers - screen print attached.

2. After viewing a list of films/music, say I'm on the last page, I have to keep paging up lots of times to get back to the top of the list. On the old version I used to just exit and go back in at the top of the list.

3. Finally, updating the plugins does not remove, "exit". I am also missing "Net Radio" and "You Tube", plus my custom "Address Book".

On the plus side, the MVP seems a lot more responsive, though I still get a delay (caching problem) when using continuous remote commands for scrolling through my library - though I suspect this is a MVP hardware issue.

Kind regards,

tso617

  V0.99.12 - Recorded TV Subtitles
Posted by: serafis - 2007-07-09, 09:28 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Hi, still using V0.99.12 until I can find some free time to upgrade.

Somehow over the weekend I've manged to turn subtitle display on for recorded TV shows (some I recorded several weeks ago, so it must have been capturing SRT all the time, even though I don't recall ever configuring this!) and now I can't find out how to turn them off.

I've tried the obvious settings on the Config / Misc screen - no change - and the Yellow button doesn't do it either.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

DVD: This movie cannot be played due to parental controls"
Posted by: bresky - 2007-07-09, 09:22 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I get this message with ONE particular movie. I am using WINDVD (free version), no parental controls are set anywhere. I went into WINDVD and even set the parental controls to allow everything, but still no go. Anyone else experience this? Is there a fix? This is for a movie that my son bought (Dunstans something...cant remember the name)

Problem installing GBPBR - cannot register PsiParser.ax
Posted by: pirlouwi - 2007-07-09, 08:37 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hello,
I just discovered GBPVR, and run into trouble installing it on my VIA epia EN15000 mother board.
I got this error during GBPVR installation process:
PsiParser.ax failed to register HRESULT -2147010895

It occurs each time I try to do it manually (regsvr32) or by executing the script for re-registering all filters.

Consequently, If I run gbpvr or config, I got a .net error window, and if I choose to continue, the config interface appears but without data in the fields. My issue is related to a problem with the database or something like this.

I am a bit lost  because I installed .net 2.0 as it is mentioned in the system requirements, as well as mdac2.6 (although it is not strictly required for XP).

Any idea will be welcome.

Regards,
Pirlouwi

Hauppauge 250BTV to TV using Angeltrax CATV2400?
Posted by: Bwangster12 - 2007-07-09, 08:14 PM - Forum: General Discussion - No Replies

I have the Hauppauge 250BTV (Roslyn card) and it has the audio/video jacks on the back.
http://registration.hauppauge.com/websto...rd_big.gif

I want to watch stuff I tape with GBPVR on other TVs in my house.

I have the Angeltrax CATV2400 Wireless Cable TV system.
http://reviews.cnet.com/specialized-elec...52060.html

My gf was using it to stream cable tv to a room that didn't have coax jacks.

I now want to connect it to my computer and stream to a tv. My TV tuner card has the red/white/yellow jacks and the S-video jack. I also have the Nvidia GeForce 6200 video card which has an S-video jack.
http://usuarios.lycos.es/drimages/Placa%...eo%202.jpg

The receiver for the wireless transmitter only has red/white/yellow jacks.

If I connect the transmitter to my tv card nothing seems to happen.
