  WinTV-HVR 1600
Posted by: Dpsxl - 2007-07-10, 04:42 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

Does anyone know the differences between WinTV-HVR 1600 MCE Bundle and Win TV-HVR-1600 PCI Hybrid Video Recorder. Which one is better?

Thanks in advance

  Heavy CPU usage
Posted by: Binky - 2007-07-10, 03:32 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Unfortunately after all of the good reports on the update I am going to have to submit a bad one. While GBPVR still sits at a pleasant 5% cpu average while watching live TV, the new PVRX2 consumes a horrendous 55% average cpu with spikes over 60%. A small increase in cpu usage I can deal with, but at an 11x increase, all I can say is yikes!

I haven't been able change anything in the config that clearly lowers the cpu usage much less get it close to the GBPVR usage levels. Are others experiencing this? Is it my config? Is it just the way that PVRX2 is always going to be? Can I think of another question just so I can use the question mark key again? :p

Anyhow, I would appreciate insight into this. If my config, logs, and machine specs are needed just let me know where to post them and in what format. Thanks for any response. I really hope this is just a fluke.

  1.0.8 minor scheduling bug
Posted by: cginzel - 2007-07-10, 02:50 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

sub,

first let me say the new interface is very sexy! i just wish i could enjoy those smooth animations on my MVP!!!

I have discovered a minor bug. if i pick a program from the tv guide and then quick record it, then cancel that recording and try to re-record it for the season, that show won't get picked up but future shows will. i think it might be keeping the zap2it duplicate check from the quick record and not clearing it when i cancel the quick record.

anyway... great work sub. love the changes. looking forward to the other plug-ins returning. and a 1.0.8 weather plug-in... jeff?! Big Grin

Two Problems - In Progress Rec's / Channel Changes
Posted by: j3flight - 2007-07-10, 02:42 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (11)

Hey there,

First off, I love the new interface - it's made GBPVR into a very professional looking PVR application. I've had very few problems, but here are a couple you might want to know about:

1. I can't playback recordings that are 'in progress' anymore. This problem occurs when using GBPVR.exe or PVRX2.exe. This used to work fine, recording path is the same, decoders are unchanged... Log is attached.

2. Whenever I "type in" a channel number when watching live TV, the channel will change successfully, but it's like the interface tries to re-tune the same channel a bunch of times in a row. Specifically, if I type, 2-3 (for channel 23), channel 23 will flash EXACTLY 10 times over the span of about 5 seconds before finally settling down and staying on that channel. If I change channels with the up/down keys, it does not do this. This happens ONLY with PVRX2.exe. Log is attached.

Thanks for any help!!

I-xmltv updated for YahooXMLTv (adds a new show marker and more)
Posted by: Jim_ - 2007-07-10, 01:28 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (78)

Updated to a slightly more generic version that will work with the YahooXMLTv epg utiltiy and any other grabber that outputs the needed xmltv fields.
Verify YahooXMLTv (or your supported grabber) is giving you a proper lineup and GBPVR is preforming automatic updates before installing this utiltiy. One thing at a time is the best way to isolate problems. Wink

The enhanced output file is called "I-xmltv.xml" with the new generic version.

Adds a New Show marker "*" to the title of new shows.
Adds "New" to the genre list of new shows. (unless you exclude their genre in I-xmltv.ini)
Adds Original-Air-Date (if one exists) to the description.
Adds Release Date (1959) and Rating {PG} to movie titles.
Adds Cast & crew to movie descriptions.

Extract to the folder where you download your listings, and read the included “Readme I-xmltv.txt” for setup instructions.

Update 8/13/07
I-xmltv (build 8-13-07)
contains the latest generic version, and the original xmltv wiki version. It also has example xml files and notes for developers who wish to make their epg.xml files compatible with I-xmltv.

  Zap2it listing availability

FWIW, I have just been able to download my listings thru friday from the config UI.

It might be worth giving it a try, but let's not all hammer their servers into submission...

  1.0.8 Questions (Pending, and Screensaver)
Posted by: Carlito - 2007-07-09, 11:51 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

sub, just a couple questions/comments on 1.0.8
1. Is the gbpvr screensaver still supposed to come on? I have not seen it come on yet.

and
2. When viewing Pending recordings with the mode set to show the icon beside the show, there is no icon present? Can you check to see if there is an icon for the pending show and if so, display it?

Thanks again for all the great work sub.

  No tray icon in 1.08
Posted by: pointlisse - 2007-07-09, 11:23 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (14)

Hi,

Although the GBPVRRecordingService.exe and GBPVRTray.exe are running, I no longer see the tray icon. All else (upgrade) seems to be working. I've attempted to restart the recording service and reset the config, but no icon.

Any ideas? Vista Ultimate, HVR-1600, ATI x800

PS. GREAT RELEASE. This is an awesome application and it is greatly appreciated!

Andrew
