I have my GB-PVR machine all set up in my living room now and the wife acceptance factor is slowing increasing. I am seeking some advice as when I was playing around with the software on our office computer I was able to scan channels with better accuracy than with the connection that is dropped to our living room. Example, I live in houston and we have a local station channel 49 which also has 3 sub channels 49.2 49.3 and 49.4. In the office I can watch those channels with no problems but they show up as too weak of a signal in the living room. It is using the same anteana that I have installed in the attic split to each room in the hosue and using the same USB ATSC tuner. I was studying some articles and read that there are higher quality cabling the will reduce the signal lose either by interferance or distance. I am debating on what to try in order to preserve the signals, either run some higher quality quad shielded RG6 cable from the attic to the living room or buy an amplifier to see if it will resolve the issue as I do live about 33-38 miles from the broadcasting stations according to antenneaweb.org. Any advice?
I got a Nova T-500 dual tuner and I'm trying create a Media Center PC using GBPVR but it doesnt recognise the tuner! It works fine on Vista Media Center, XP Media Center and MediaPortal but I would rather use GBPVR as it looks awesome!
During setup when i select the option to only show tuners installed on this pc it says there is no tuner installed!!
Any ideas on how i can get it to recognise my card?
I'm able to set the MVP Server back to GBPVR.exe and have no problems at all, but if I use PVRX2.exe I'm largely unable to connect. It just sits at "Connecting to Server" endlessly. I am able to power cycle the MVP and it loads the dongle (via PVRX2.exe) just fine and I've done the network config thing to make sure the system was selected with preference 0.
I was able to get it to connect once, but when I played a movie it just went black.
I've attached my logs. The logs2 directory has logs that include the one time I got PVRX2.exe to bring up my MVP and then fail to play a movie.
I was previously running .99 w/ Video Archive. To upgrade I ran the new GVPVR installer (after installing the runtime libs) followed by running the new Video Archiver installer. I'm running on a solid system (AMD x86 1.8GHz w/ 1GB RAM). The MVP is behind a 801.11a bridge which works flawlessly (no interference thanks to using A and gets a great data rate).
but before i start - LOVE the new version - was waiting for it to come since seeing something in the wiki and i knew that version 1 was coming - its gotta put GBPVR as one of if not the best PVR apps out there now... well done sub
i was almost tempted with the flashy graphics of vista and its media center but shit me days when i installed this version - im so impressed !!!
my small issue is something to do with directx - because if i use overlay in the old version the problem is not there however if i use DX custom, DX full screen or standard DX i get a small flicker - this seems to happen more with movement and sometimes disappears if i fast forward or rewind. ive tried the DX 9.0b fix but that didnt resolve it so im just wondering if anyone else has come across this - ive tried different video decoders but no change there either - im running an HP Evo D530 SFF with a P4 2.8ghz processor - 1gb ram - and a ATI Radeon 9550 Low Profile video card....
anyone got any ideas on how to fix this ??
thanks in advance - and again congrats sub
edit - ive just gone back and done some testing - it appears that this happens with overlay selected aswell - so the new version has done something to "break" this - no biggie i guess we just have to pause or skip back and forth for a while...
I can't seem to find a toggle force-foreground option in 1.0.8. It is available in GBPVR 99.12 but the new PVRX2 does not seem to have this option (at least that I can find).
Is this option available? This is a necessity for the wife.
Note that if you have manually copied an earlier version of the weather plug-in DLL into a subdirectory under your GBPVR\plugins directory you will need to manually remove it in order to use this plug-in since the install program will not do so automatically.
I sort most of the menu items into two submenus, and it just so happens that what is supported by 1.0.8's new interface is in a submenu. This means that I only have 3 items in my main menu. The new interface does not like this.
If I try to move to a different item than what appears first, the interface crashes. Having 4 or more items in the menu solves the issue. I've attached a screenshot of the error that appears; more detail can be provided if required, but this one seems to me like it should be fairly obvious.
Something similar occurs if one of the submenus has less than 4 items, although the interface locks up instead of providing an error message.
- I get really choppy video response. Under the old version, the video and audio were smooth. AMD Athlon 1800+, GEForce 128MB, 1 GB RAM
- I can seem to change the channels using the numbers on they keyboard. The only way I can get the channels to change is pgup and pgdown
