I'm thinking of building a core2duo machine for my gbpvr computer.
Is this sufficient or overkill?:
Gigabyte mb: GA-965P-DS3
video card: Nvidia 7600 GT ?? or?
power supply: Corsair CMPSU-620HX
dvd sata drive: Liteon SH-16A7S
Hard Drive: Hitachi 500 GB SATA
Tuner Capture Card: Hauppauge PVR 1600
Memory DDR2: 2GB
Case:
CPU: E6600
I'd like to use my AMD 4200+ machine but I am not thrilled with the idea of doing various computer activities on the same computer as the one recording. I have songs, documents, programs etc. on my current drive and it's only 120GB. I will want to watch videos, dvds, web search, listen to music etc. but I don't want anything effecting the recording. I'm not sure how much will be HD recording but I suspect it would make a difference what I'd be doing on the computer if I use HD signals.
I apologize if this has been answered before but I couldn't find it even after a search.
I'm wondering if you can have options for live tv and recording. Can you have it continuously record and can you shut that option off and turn it on whenever you want?
I am new at this and could use some help. I have gbpvr up and running on my PC, but I can't seem to play XviD avi files. After reading here and trying some things, I'm not sure how to proceed. I checked some of my avi files with GSpot, and "Codec(s) are Installed" per GSpot. I can play the files with VLC, but I cannot play them with either WMP or gbpvr. With both WMP and gbpvr I can hear the audio, but I have no video.
If the codec is already installed, how do I get gbpvr and WMP to use it? In gbpvr I have only three choices - Cyberlink Video SP Decoder, the Hauppauge decoder, and default. I'm using the default (which is Cyberlink) in gbpvr and it works fine for playback of recordings.
How do I proceed? Do I need to install another codec? If so, can someone advise me on which one is best and how to proceed? Or if I already have a codec installed (as per GSpot), how do I get gbpvr to see it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm very impressed with gbpvr and if I can get this to work, I'll be set. Thanks.
My problem is apparently quite similar to [URL="http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=25538"]BigLarry's Freecom issue

I just installed the Terratec card. It's recognised when configuring it as a capture source, but alas - when trying to scan for channels, it crashes the recording service.
Logs zipped and attached, but the apparent key issue is highlighted below:
Hi. I am a new GBPVR user. I am using the PVR-350 for capture and playback. I want to do the following:
1. capture shows and have them transcoded into divx
2. play the divx with on-the-fly transcode back through the PVR-350 out as mpeg.
I am able to do #1 jus fine and have a few .avi's that play with the VLC player. They show up in my video folder when I browse for video. When I go to play them, the screen looks like it is going to play (ie. time line with show details at the bottom). However, the show time line is about 12s and no video ends up playing.
I have tried to futz around with ffmpeg and zprocess, but am totally lost. Does anybody have any suggestions? I would really appreciate some help. Thank you.
How do you tell on a recurring recording how it was set up? In other words, was it all recordings on this channel, or all recordings this timeslot, etc.
Hi, Just felt that I had to drop in a note congratulating the developers on a job well done! GB-PVR works perfectly and I got it configured and running in a matter of a couple of hours. Its well put together, clean and runs without any lag.
I can contrast this with other PVR software because I spent nearly a few weeks on Media Portal to try to do the same thing but still couldn't get scheduled recordings to work! I am sure it was my fault, but still getting basic functionality working shouldn't be that hard.
I am writing a Pluggin that is using a System.Timers and it fires every x seconds and when it does fire I need to refresh the screen as the background has changed. It works great on the main PC but not thru the MVP. I am just adding a handler in the activate event for the timer.Elapsed event... then in the handler I do the follwoing:
PluginHelperFactory.getPluginHelper.SetImage(x)
and I have even tried
PluginHelperFactory.getPluginHelper.ForceRepaint()
I hate when i resize my GB-PVR on mistake, it tends to distort the image just barely and is almost impossible to eye line it back up perfectly to size.(everything there on has a slight fuz in text, image everything)
I wish for a way to snapback to default size. Maybe in config to tick it to snapback to default size each new opening.
And maybe a lock to prevent resize other then fullscreen.
I have a problem with recordings made on my PVR350. I origanally thought it was one of the tuners on my 500 but was getting confused with device IDs etc.
Basically I get 'super bright' recordings (see attached) and a shimmering across the screen. If you look at the lefthand side of the screenshot where the guy is bending forward you can see a small 'blip' and on the other side a corresponding indent shaped like a '<'. These shimmers happen constantly several times a second but the shot only captered one.
I 'think' this all ties in when I used the Hauppauge Tweak tool to adjust some PVR500 settings but it messed up my 350 instead (the picture went very dark with a strong red tinge). The problem is, I've used the tool again to restore defaults, tried an HCWCLEAR and full re-install of drivers, a full power-down and card removal (in case the card was holding the settings) but to no avail.
The alternative, of course, is the tweak tool thing is just a coincidence and a component or components on the 350 have 'broken down' but haven't yet totally failed.
