Graph and TVPI Recorder Plug-in Release
Posted by: carpeVideo - 2007-03-23, 07:05 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (114)

This plug in is similar (and based on) the external recorder and software recorder plug-ins with extended functionality.

It allows you to :

a) use any graph that you have created in graphedt (Microsoft DirectX SDK) for live preview or timeshifting/recording (graph must use GBPVR writer and create a file) - this allows gbpvr to work with nearly any kind of capture card, software or hardware. I use it for firewire capture, and for capturing S-video from my fusion card.
) kick off external events for recording as the external recorder does

Read the README - one quirk: you must first add the plug-in then work your way back out of config program to get it started in the database. Then re-start config and you can alter the settings.

  Rolling back to XP
Posted by: weisguy - 2007-03-23, 06:54 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (9)

Well,

I've given it a week. After living with Vista for 7 days, I've got to say I'm going back to XP and spending tomorrow undoing what I did *last* Saturday. Aero is pretty, but I'm longing for the crisp, fast responsiveness of XP. I am reminded of the expression: "You can't polish a turd."

Vista is just plain dog slow. Applications are often relatively sluggish to launch. I have 2GB of RAM, a dual-core 2.2 Ghz machine, and SATA hard drives but no matter what I do it just isn't as fast as XP.

Peerguardian and SafePeer do not work yet for Vista

I'm getting audio/video unsynchronized when I watch live TV on GBPVR. In no way am I slagging GBPVR. I've got to say except for that, GB-PVR has been one of the MOST reliable things I've seen working on Vista. I just don't want to take the time to figure it all out. Could it be the Vista-native hauppauge driver? My codec? Argh. My old GBPVR setup wasn't broken but I tried to fix it anyway. Stoopid me.

Unbelievably invasive "are you really sure you want to do this" mentality laced through the OS. Most of it I've been able to turn off, however the overhead is still there. If you know what you are doing with respect to system administration, Vista's security "enhancements" are pure annoyance.

Lack of a decent ATI Radeon driver.

UltraVNC server cannot yet be used as a process.

Horrible, horrible sleep support. (Microsoft has even ack'd this one.)

How is everyone else doing...?

Until SP1,
Brian

I was wondering if anybody here was using this card and if they are how do you think it performs? I've read that it was having some problems with Windows MCE reception. Does it work well with GB-PVR?

  Recording going out of sync
Posted by: top_cat - 2007-03-23, 03:10 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Does anyone have any suggestions about how I can stop my recording from going out of sync when they are encoded to Xvid?

The .avi files start off in sync but gradually they start to loose sync and by the end of the a show its a couple of seconds out. The actual MPEG file seems to be OK and does not seem to go out of sync.

What can I do to fix this?

  Theater 550 Pro + Crashes = HELP!!
Posted by: wolly6973 - 2007-03-23, 03:08 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (7)

I have the Theater 550 Pro tuner card. I have had some limited success in using this. I have been able to get as far as watching a few minutes of video. I have all the latest drivers and BIOS. I have even done a fresh install of XP MCE. I think that I have narrowed the problem down to my decoder. First trying to use the Nvidia PureVideo decoder did nothing. I would only get a second of video in LiveTV before getting a BSOD(Stop 0xF4). After installing Cyberlink, I can now get a few good minutes before the BSOD. I have tried installing the ATI MMC, and PowerCinema, neither of which helped at all. The FM tuner on the card works perfectly through all of those and GBPVR. I would appreciate any help at all that I could get.

My Machine:
Biostar GeForce 6100 M9 Motherboard
Athlon 64 3000+
1.5 GB RAM
250GB WD Sata II HDD
Visiontek Radeon X300SE Graphics Card
WIndows XP MCE

  Removing commercials from recordings
Posted by: mt_100 - 2007-03-23, 03:06 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (14)

Forgive me for being a newbie at this but I love GB-PVR.

I want to make it so my TV recordings don't have commercials in them. I tried Comskip and that makes my media player act up but I know it doesn't actually remove them.

Is there an easy way to make it so the finished video file doesn't have the commercials in it? If so how do I go about setting it up or where can I find documentation of how to get it running?

Thanks!

Changing the order of recurring recordings
Posted by: htewam - 2007-03-23, 02:20 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

I thought that, as of 99.12, there was some kind of change to the order for recurring recordings and priority for conflict resolution. Now I can't seem to find the information I was looking for on either the Wiki or the Forum -- can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Are the 99.12 release notes posted somewhere on the Wiki. I normally read them off the forum when Sub announces a new release but now the announcement for 99.12 has been taken down.

  Email Insanity
Posted by: JonnyCam - 2007-03-23, 11:43 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (10)

Hello,

So I recently changed ISP's - but get to keep my old email (which is good, as it's used for a lot of important sutff)

I can connect and download emails, but when I try to send, I get an error that I am not sending a correct FQDN or IPv6 literal.

It seems that outlook 2003 doesn't send anything as the FQDN.
(I am guessing here, as the error says: "must contain a FQDN or IPv6 literal in []."

When I try thunderbird, it says "invalid HELO/EHLO of [192.168.1.3]" which is the internal IP address of this PC.

Can anyone tell me how to make either Thunderbird / Outlook 2003 send a valid FQDN?

If I telnet into the mail server, and do a HELO command of "www.google.co.nz" it authenticates! - I dont mind using my actual IP address etc, I just want to be able to send emails through my client again.

Any ideas?
Thanks

  newbie questions
Posted by: Smoker - 2007-03-23, 11:33 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (5)

Greetings Folks

I'm posting from work so forgive my possibly stupid questions.

I am wondering what the popular solutions are for connecting their pc's to their tv's. I am guessing it could be a mvp but most likely it is a graphics card with tv-out. Are there one or two most popular (low cost) graphics cards that people recommend ?

Secondly, as for remotes, I can understand that there is not need to have multiple remotes but how does one go about deciding which cards to get if wanting multiple pvr cards ? For example, one card with remote and one without cause there is no need for a second remote ? or can one have two pvr cards with remote capability ? If so I take it there is a method for controlling both with a single remote ? or does GBPVR allow you to control both via one card's remote ?

Appologies if these are very basic questions but I'm at the stage of buying the hardware yet not sure which ones to go about getting.

Thanks for your patience

Smoker
