  Losing sound in recordings every 10 days?
Posted by: csatech - 2007-03-15, 11:07 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Good evening All.

I have a unique problem. Approximately every 7 to 10 days, I need to restore my system from an Image (luckily, I always create an image when i finish building and perfecting a system). For an unknown reason, the sound stops or goes down to an inaudible level every 1.5 weeks on my scheduled recordings. The only solution is for me to copy the recordings dump file and restore my image and everything works fine again.

I can find no reason for this happening. It's not an automatic update, they're turned off. The system is dedicated and only used for GBPVR. I don't have any driver updates installed, nothing. Literally, it's only use is GBPVR. the last image restore was on 3/6 and then i had to restore it again this morning, 3/15.

Any thoughts as to what may be happening?

Specs: AMD64 3200+, 1GB RAM, 250GB HDD, Windows XP Pro, ATI Theator, PVR150.

I thought the beef was from Texas and the Lamb from NZ?? Big Grin

  Delayed shutdown did not shutdown system.
Posted by: FirstTeamOPS - 2007-03-15, 10:52 PM - Forum: Slimm GB-PVR and GBPVRcli - Replies (8)

Fairly simple... I enabled delayed shutdown while a program was recording last night (11P-12A) and got up this morning and the system was still running. No evidence any kind of shutdown took place, mainly because no tray icons were gone. I've never had my system hang during a shutdown and I can't think of any program that would reject an auto shutdown.

I don't normally use this feature but I know this happened with an earlier build too. I don't see anything in the log indicating it was even enabled, but I know the tray icon was flashing the red "turn off" icon when I wet to bed. I can post the logs if needed, but I really don't see anything about the shutdown in them.

Any thoughts?

  MUX collection
Posted by: wannabepvr - 2007-03-15, 10:49 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

Finding a mux that works well can be a little tricky. There are not only different 'brands' but also many different versions.

I felt it might aid the community to create a catalogue of muxes for download.

I believe it needs to be outside the GBPVR site so there are no 'complications'.

Please e-mail me your muxes at mux@aanet.com.au. I will yell when I get enough and post a list so we can minimise double ups.

You can use Sub's mux checker, graphedit or direct show filter manager to locate your muxs, zip and mail the file.

  Nero Time Error
Posted by: kslee - 2007-03-15, 09:16 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

I've been having a problem when trying to burn my recorded tv shows to DVD using Nero.

I record a show, and using my postprocessing.bat, I use comskip and comclean to remove the commercials. When I open the file in WMP everything works great. ex)a 60 min show will now be 45 min long with the commercials removed.

However, when I open the file with Nero, it states the file is still 60 min long and when I burn the file to DVD, I can watch the show and the commercials are removed, however, after 45 min I get 15 min of a black nothing. In essence, I still get a show with no commercials, but then I have all this wasted space on my DVD.

I'm still an amateur with Gb-pvr, and I'm hoping it's a simple problem. Is this a nero issue, a time issue, or a comskip/comclean issue...etc...? Any advice is appreciated.

  xDVD Help Please
Posted by: lajams - 2007-03-15, 08:55 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (6)

Team,
I am looking to play VOBs on my MVP. I've installed VLC, and the xDVD plugin. I edited the xml and all looks good. However, when I cruise to a VOB in GBPVR and click on one, nothing happens. I also tried an .ifo file, and same thing. I have the fixed DLL that was posted in another thread installed and I'm not getting errors. Can someone help an xDVD n00b? Here's my XML.

<settings>
<TempFile>c:\temp\dvd.mpg</TempFile>
<PlayMode mode="SIZE" value="150"/>
<DVDDrive>d</DVDDrive>
<BaseFileDirectory>e:\media\video\dvds</BaseFileDirectory>
<MountDVDDrive>d</MountDVDDrive>
<ForceMvpMode>true</ForceMvpMode>
</settings>

Thanks much.

  GBPVR kills HDHR in MCE
Posted by: grittree - 2007-03-15, 08:19 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I got my HDHR tuner0 (antenna) working in MCE, along with a VBox.

Then I installed GB-PVR to control tuner1 (QAM). But it made tuner0 stop working in MCE. Uninstalled GB-PVR and it's back working. v99.12 + whurlston app

Is it incompatible to have two programs accessing the HDHR at the same time?

  Weird Transcoder Issue
Posted by: andrew_macaluso - 2007-03-15, 06:52 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I have it set to transcode to DivX and it does that just fine, but GBPVR refuses to play a file that it transcoded. However, If I go into Config and deselect the transcoder option it will start to play the already transcoded files just fine. Should I post the logs? Any ideas?

  Live TV vs. Scheduled Recording - Different Color Settings
Posted by: Gozar - 2007-03-15, 06:30 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Quick background p4 2.4ghz, 768mb RAM, FX5200, PVR-150

This is probably a dumb question, but I need to ask it because I've noticed a difference in the colour quality of mpegs when watching something which was pre-set to record, vs an unpaused livetv feed.

Are there different settings for these recording options? I am just setting up GBPVR, and was using the pause feature of Live tv to configure how I wanted the colour settings. I got it exactly the way I wanted it with livetv. To be absolutely explicit, I'd pause a show for a minute, and then resume it to see the quality of what was recorded during "pause" mode. If I didn't like a colour or brightness aspect, I'd adjust the settings and try again. As I said, I had it exactly the way I wanted it.

I preset some shows to record later that night, and when viewing them the next day, the colours on them were terrible. The picture was too bright, the colours washed out etc...

So here's my question: Are there different configurations for the video settings for these two recording options? Is there an option to configure the picture quality for livetv, or does it default to a particular setting?

Thanks!

-Chris
