Time off by 1 hour, DST issue?
Posted by: scott99 - 2007-03-12, 05:10 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (48)

The TV listings are off by 1 hour. Located in Canada which just had the new, 3 week earlier, "Daylight Savings Time" come into effect. The computers clock managed to adjust automatically but not GBPVR.

Solution:
Update http://support.microsoft.com/gp/cp_dst and empty the EPG in the GBPVR config utility. MS supports Win2000 to Vista. A reboot is not required.
Workarounds include hacking your timezone or waiting 3 weeks.
The issue may arise again should the USA decide the new DST is useless. Personally, I hate the changes.

  Recordings - Ready/Whats New
Posted by: cdhuitt - 2007-03-12, 05:06 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (19)

Quick question. I have a clean install of 99.12. Recording is working without a problem. However, when I go to the Recordings menu, the Ready and Whats New are blank. They say "No new recordings..."

Why is this blank if I just recorded a program last night? ANything I can do to make it show the recordings? The recording-dump.xml file has the information in it.

My install of GB is on the C: drive, but my documents and recordings are in a folder on D:.

Thanks in advance,
Dale

  Emulation mode testing Round II
Posted by: mvallevand - 2007-03-12, 04:08 PM - Forum: MVPMC dongle - Replies (38)

With the recent threads on the main MVP board I see many users are experiencing problems with 99.12 that I am not seeing with emulation mode, but I am still reluctant to have them try mvpmc until I know that some users are actually using it as their primary dongle with GBPVR and I don't think that applies yet but I want to make it happen. Let me know if and when some of you decided to adopt it.

On Saturday I updated the mvpmc source base with the changes that you have identified too date and I really have appreciated the feedback so far. I will update the alpha tonight to fix a few things that I broke, and I also hope to clean up the slight delay on startup, (not the 20 second problem which I can't duplicate) and I still want to tackle the biggest problems.

If you are sending in trouble reports, I would like to know a few more details to help me out. I'd like to alway get your gbpvr logs (and mvpmc logs if you can, but this is optional for now) and I'd really like to know more about the file that you are trying to play if there is remote key malfunction, the file type being mp3, mpeg-1 or 2, YouTube, Live TV, transcoded video source (ie xvid, divx, avi, h264) and whether the file is mpeg-ts (if you know). I will assume you have a fast > 2400 Mhz server, if not also let me know.

I am also going to make the alpha dongle more gbpvr specific, by eliminating the mythtv and replay tv defaults, to eliminate as many variables as possible. Later this week I will make the mpvmc debug logs available in the browser interface to help those having the understandable difficulties with telnet and file shares.

Thanks again for all your help

Martin

Problems with time offset on some tv listings
Posted by: dinki - 2007-03-12, 02:55 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (10)

Not sure if this is daylight saving time related or not, but yesterday I noticed that some of my recordings were off by an hour (starting an hour too early) but not all. I emptied my EPG and then repopulated the EPG. I'm seeing scheduled recordings that are out of whack.

For example:

American Idol
Tuesday, March 13, 2007
6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
but should be
7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

and even stranger I have:

The Amazing Race: All-Stars
Sunday, March 18, 2007
6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

AND

The Amazing Race: All-Stars
Sunday, March 18, 2007
7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

This shows an extra earlier showing of the same broadcast (same description) at 6:00PM when in reality '60 minutes' plays in this timeslot.

I checked the 'regular' zap2it web listings for all of the above problem listings and they all appear in the right time slots.

Any ideas? BTW, my computer clock did advance one hour for DST.

device#1 has the FM tuner, device#2 doesn't. I have only 4 analog stations so upto now i've not assigned any TV channels to device#1 and just use that for FM radio. Lo and behold, SHMBO wanted to record two of the four channels at the same time so i tried to get it that the two devices have the same four TV channels assigned, but i want it so that it will always use device#2 as its first choice, if its not being used, so that the FM radio will still be able to use device#1.

Can this be done?

How do you remove the Weather plugin
Posted by: divinehammer - 2007-03-12, 01:37 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I am running 99.05 I installed the Weather plugin but now I am trying to uninstall it. I think that it may be causing my machine to lock up. I went to add remove programs and it was there so I hit remove that did nothing in GBPVR remove it from add/remove list though. The plugin still shows in config but I dont have a check in its box and the remove button never lights up. Looking at the logs it seems that it is still getting the info for weather even though it is disabled. So I guess now I need manual instructions on how to remove it, I see two DLLs but what other parts do i need to remove and do i need to manually change the config.xml? Thanks.

  New secondary monitor problem
Posted by: gregsmith - 2007-03-12, 11:23 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (17)

I've been happily using gbpvr in my secondary monitor on the right for a while now.

I bought a new desk which now makes sense to have the gbpvr monitor on the left of the primary. Now whatever I do gbpvr won't start on the right monitor. If I have start in secondary monitor ticked it starts on my primary monitor. If I don't have it ticked it also starts on my primary monitor.

Any ideas why it will work on the right but not on the left?

  Showburner for PAL
Posted by: McBainUK - 2007-03-12, 10:20 AM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (11)

Quote:Other limitations: NTSC only.
This plugin seems ideal for quickly burning recorded shows to give to friends/family but noticed this on the wiki page Sad

What's the reason for this and is there anything there can be done to use nova-t generated pal MPEG files as I'm in the UK?
