  remote control delays, mvp crashes
Posted by: jantony_pdx - 2007-03-10, 01:54 AM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (50)

I'm having trouble with remote control delays. From the TV guide, if I start scrolling down through channels, after about the 5th channel the display pauses for 2-3 seconds. I usually stop scrolling and just wait for the channel guide to catch back up. I repeat this process several times until I get to the channel I want. It's usually not a big deal, but just more of an annoyance. Occasionally, though, the MVP reboots. (This scroll-pause behavior isn't limited to just the TV guide. It's just easy to see there).

I had high hopes with this thread that setting the NIC to half-duplex would fix it, but no luck so far:
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...mote+delay

I'm running 99.12. I've also disabled all plugins to make sure it wasn't some conflict there.

I just pushed the issue by repeatedly scrolling up-and-down until I got the MVP to reboot a couple times. Attached is a zip file of the logs. If somebody could take a look at them, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

  Playing Recordings on Vista Laptop
Posted by: kchinth2727 - 2007-03-09, 11:29 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I got a new laptop that has Vista installed. When I play recordings from GBPVR, the video does not play smoothly. When I play it on my XP desktop, they play fine. I have tried playing them in GBPVR, Windows Media Player, Windows Media Center, etc., and they all play the same. I can watch DVD's and other mpg files fine, but my recordings do not play well. The sound is fine, but the video is terrible.

Any ideas?

Problem with subtitles in programme descriptions
Posted by: MattG - 2007-03-09, 10:08 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I'm having a trouble with the popup descriptions as shown in the screenshots below. If it doesn't have a sub-title such as seen in the top picture it's all fine but if the is a sub-title such as "Episode 4 of 6" as seen in the bottom picture then it gets jumbled. Is there any way to get around this?

Update EPG - Pending recordings lost
Posted by: bgowland - 2007-03-09, 09:58 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (12)

I just noticed that I had 'ghost' pending recordings set for tomorrow morning - i.e., they rescheduled some programmes by 5-10 minutes and both the wrong time and right time still exist in the EPG and are set to record. I still see this occasionally despite having the 'Completely empty EPG' option set.

Anyway...my usual way of dealing with this is to open Command Prompt and run gbpvr -onlyemptyepg. I then start the GB-PVR main app. and go to System and use UpdateEPG.

The last time I did this (maybe a couple of months ago) I'm pretty certain that all my Pending recordings were still there after the update (and the ghosts had gone).

This time around, the Pending recordings section is empty.

The strange thing is, the first time I did this (about 15 minutes ago), one pending recording showed up - it was a one-off 'Quick Record' of a film tomorrow night that I'd just set to record - all the others which would have been Season recordings were missing.

Cheers,
Brian

  Pvr 500
Posted by: argo - 2007-03-09, 09:08 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (7)

Hi - Getting close to buying compenents for a new PVR.

Can anyone confirm that the later version 500's (Samsung tuners) work ok with GBPVR? I'm in NZ if that makes any difference to the PVR 500's available

Cheers

  Delayed Live TV timeline issue
Posted by: pastro - 2007-03-09, 08:23 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

When I am delaying live TV by playing a pending recording while it is still recording, if I get within two minutes or so of the end of the timeline, FF and skip do not work correctly. They both freeze the picture. Pressing REW unfreezes the picture immediately. Waiting 10 seconds or so also allows the picture to continue - at least when I press FF.

When this happens if I switch the TV over to the live broadcast, I am caught up and not 2 minutes or so behind like the timeline says.

On finished recordings, this doesn't happen and the recordings allow FF and skip to the end (actually within one FF or Skip time from the end) and it never freezes.

Anyone else see this behavior?

  Can't get GBPVR to work
Posted by: soobookivi - 2007-03-09, 07:45 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

I'm having a problem with getting GB-PVR to work.
My TV card is a Terratec Cinergy 2400i DT, and it works ok with other HTPC software. I have installed the BDA driver, and I'm (trying) to run version v0.99.12. The program have found the available DVB-T channels, and I've got the EPG to too. When trying to run Live-TV, all I get is a black screen. Nothing happens when trying to change channel, or selecting a program from the EPG window.

I can't find more things to try to setup, so I really would like some help from anyone. I have attached the log files, hope they are helpful.

Thank you
Thomas - Denmark

  New here Dvico cards supported?
Posted by: bleeds - 2007-03-09, 07:34 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (3)

Hello there,
I have been TRYING to use MP to get my HTPC to work, and I am at my wits end. I have heard that gbpvr is way better. Let me ask, does gbpvr support any DVICO cards? What about scanning channels from USA, with locality intact? What about the epg, does it actually work..sorry I seem bitter, but I have spent quite a bit of time trying to get my Dvico FusionHDTV 5 RT Gold to work with MP, and I dont want to use the fusion software, which works fine for tv, but I, like many others, want a total solution. Well hopefully this one will help find the light at the end of the tunnel!! thanks

  Keeping GB-PVR in focus
Posted by: liteswap - 2007-03-09, 07:32 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (6)

I've just developed my first AutoIt script for GB-PVR.

It starts GB-PVR, maximises it using keystrokes to eliminate a white border (this may be just my problem), and watches for it to lose focus. If it does, it waits 20 seconds for the user to finish doing stuff, the returns focus to GB-PVR so that it's ready for use.

I'e done this for my machine that sits in the living room where issues such as lack of focus (symptom=not responding) and crashed software or off-screen error messages (I use a twin-display setup) are not tolerated by the rest of the household.

It may be useful to someone else, or as a starting point for another development. Or maybe it's just an amateurish waste of space...

Oops - just noticed there's still bits of debug code in there. Oh well...

  Difference in recording size
Posted by: elbryyan - 2007-03-09, 03:28 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

Not really a problem but I thought this was interesting. I recorded two different shows, each an hour long. One on abc13 in houston and one on channel 11. The show on 13(Lost) took up approx 8 GB while the one from 11(Survivor) was 5GB. Both were OTA HD.
