Hello all! I'm brand new to this forum, and I'm working on building my first GB-PVR box. I have just a couple hardware related questions.
First, how important is the sound card in the PC in regards to the audio quality of live TV and recordings? The PC I have only has two PCI slots and on-board audio. My tuner card is in one slot and I have to use the other for video right now until I can afford a video card for the PCI-Express slot. Am I going to be missing out on anything as far as sound by using the on-board audio?
Secondly, how important is the video card? Like I said above, I'm just using a PCI video card now for the S-Video out. The rest of the PC is pretty good with a 3.4 GHz P4 processor and 2 GB of memory.
I am playing with GB-PVR again after a year without it. I see the new feature for Transcoding, but I don't see where it will allow me to convert to MPEG2? I have lots of AVIs, and WMVs that my wife would like to be able to burn to DVD, so having the ability to transcode to MPEG2 (DVD Compliant) is a big feature that I need to have so I can switch from SageTV to GB-PVR. If this is already possible, or there is a plugin with this feature please let me know. I noticed that Showburner only adds the tags, but the it seems to already have to be a MPEG2 DVD compliant video for it to work.
First off, I got a ATI card the other day and it came with Catalyst media center...and it worked so bad. After some research and looking at the negative reviews on newegg.com, someone said they use your program (gdpvr) instead. I am very happy they posted that, it is very good.
Ok, now for the problem. When I burn with showburner, my DVD will only play for about 30seconds (opening credits) then it just goes back to the menu. Im thinking my crappy DVD player is sensing the upcoming commercial as the program being over...but im not sure.
So any fixes for that? Can I disable the auto commercial sensing?
When I try to update my EPG(zap2it) I receive a lot of errors that say my EPG is not configured correctly.
I replaced my old gbpvrbackendcommon.dll file with the new patch i saw in one thread but it still doesn't work...if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated...thanks
I have an avi file with one xvid video and two mp3 audio tracks. I want to convert it to mpeg, so that I can burn it to dvd. I can get ffmpeg to convert the video and one of the audio tracks to an mpeg, but I can't figure out how to get the other audio track. Does anyone know how to do this?
My onscreen menus and such are missing their edges when viewed via my MVP on a normal 4x3 television. When viewing the TV Guide, for example, the last line of the show description will not be viewable because it is off the bottom of the screen. And the current time will be half cut-off on the top of the screen.
Is there a keystroke or shortcut to close GBPVR? I'm configuring my HIP setup with my MCE remote so now the "Green Button" opens GBPVR and I want to get the "PC Button" (AKA the shutdown button) to close GBPVR.
Okay, I've read like 10 different posts on the subject, but I'm still not clear on this.
Can the MVP playback 16:9 MPEG and/or AVI files in widescreen on a 16:9 tv without cropping the sides? I've not gotten this work, so I don't have high hopes, but at least I'll know once and for all!
